The cast is pretty crazy, with Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem. Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom will also return, as just officially announced!
Is Bardem news, or have I just not been paying this any attention so far?
I'll be honest, just like Underworld and Resident Evil, I'm thinking to myself 'Does anyone actually care about this old franchises?"
Of course, Pirates is more high profile than the other two but I can't help it but to think it's a product of its time..
I just see it as a relic, or it's getting there.
Sounds like they were going nuts for him at the convention and as long the movies keep making a billion dollars worldwide they'll keep making them. I love the first three but wasn't too crazy about the land locked fourth one (except the mermaids). If this one goes back to the sea the beaches I'll be fine with it.
12:02 a.m. Bailey says the new Pirates will feature a “formidable” new foe for Jack Sparrow, Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, and promises another faceoff between Sparrow and his “frenemy” Captain Barbossa. “There’s another character in this tale, in this franchise, that we think the audience particularly cares to see Jack Sparrow interact with,” Bailey says. It’s official — Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner is back!
12:06 a.m. “Dick van Dyke was there yesterday,” Sparrow slurs. “Susan Lucci, George Lucas, a few people I couldn’t pronounce their names – they were here.” Sean Bailey begins with Depp’s outro when the star exclaims: “I came to sing you a song!” Bailey tries again, prompting a visibly crestfallen Capt. Jack to say: “I don’t want to sing.”
I completely disagree, a lot of people do care and have fond memories of the franchise, it simply doesn't have a fan following online like stuff such as Marvel or Star Wars. Not to mention that there aren't any other films dealing with naval battles or piracy around, while Underworld and Resident Evil are just run-of-the-mill and never realy had as much entertainment value.
