That isn't true at all. I ask for delivery and it's because the nearest Pizza Hut is pretty far away. And I don't know what you're smoking, because Pizza Hut is seriously the best delivered pizza I've ever eaten.

Yes, I think the delivery charges are crazy. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting ripped off when I tip. That's why I don't order pizza too often.

Don't tip the delivery guy

Actually, I gotta disagree with that. I put myself through college working at an Italian place (where I learned Italian btw) and you would be surprised how little the delivery guy makes. The lion's share of his salary is the tip so don't be a tightwad.

Pizza Hut and Domino's are great here in Greece and no one charges for delivery. We had a Papa John's restaurant here in Greece. It was actually very close to where I live. I ordered once and it sucked. They closed it a few months later .

We do have some great local pizza places, but I get Pizza Hut and Domino's a lot of times.

I'll avoid the franchise places because of the low quality of the pizza if I can get real pizza (i.e. I'm in New York or one of the few other places with actual pizza), if not, I'll go for Dominos, as they tend to be cheaper.

I used to work as a pizza delivery guy. If the house orders more than once, they know what to expect in terms of tips. So yeah, when they see your number\address on the delivery slip, you bet yer ass they are pissed from the start and will act accordingly.

where I worked, the drivers only got a portion of the delivery charge based on how far away the delivery was; anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of a 2 to 4 dollar charge. So yeah, pay the tip. If you where in their shoes, you'd want that tip too!

Does it bother anyone else that Pizza Hut (and perhaps other Pizza companies as well) charge $3-4 for delivery? And that's without counting the tip for the delivery person.

Unless you are from the Midwest, why are you buying pizza from there?

Papa Johns is awful! In college it was always the default place we got pizza from, since it was really the only place close by. Coming from someone born and raised in Chicago, I hated Papa Johns, Pizza Hut and Dominos, they all suck equally.

to me, it comes down to either a delivery charge or a tip. the higher the DC, the lower the tip. $3-4 is just ridiculous

I do the exact same thing. Papa Johns and the one mom and pop place down the street all charge to deliver. Seems like the delivery person is the one who gets the shaft on delivery charges.
