PlayStation 4 rumors

What did the one guy from EA say in an interview at IGN? I remember reading it a while back and he said something along the lines of "Jumping to the next PS3 (or even 360) would be pointless right now" I believe he said that Nintendo could get away with it but still, their graphics would only be able to match the PS3's best looking games right now because the tech simply isn't there to look much better.

All in all he said he didn't think that companies would be able to get away with new systems, at least not for the next few years because they wouldn't stand out.

I forget when I read it, but I know I did.

yeah, i know what you are talking about. that's why a new X-Box and PS system would be pointless and just a waste of money

even though i am sure that a new 360 and PS3 will come out just with a bigger hard drive and probable backwards compatibility as "new" features

i wouldn't even bother with that though. i'd rather just pay around $70-$100 for a bigger hard drive and install it myself

all they need is new Cell (higher clock speed, more SPUs, latest PPC) a DX11 featured graphics chips (for tessellation and displacement maps on everything giving basically as much geometry as ram allows.), more ram and a higher speed more layer reading bluray drive.

when they launch is just based on how much that costs. how much they are willing to lose on launch to get more of the market earlier.

we are getting to a point where the only realistic improvements after will be in resolution. because a significantly better lighting model would require far more power for only a little gain. animation, texture detail and model detail wont really be able to improved because they'll be as good as they need to be.

Video games are getting to the point of being almost scary here pretty soon...enhance motion tracking/recognition technology (kinect/move/wii+) with enhanced HD 3D and maybe in 2015 Kids in 7/11 really will actually be saying Having to use your hands in Wild Gunman is like a baby's toy!

that's like matrix verses holodeck. and i think the future of games is both because sometimes you want to test your physicality and sometimes you want to do things you couldn't physically do.
