Poison Ivy Casting Thread

Charlize Theron as Catwoman
Margo Robbie as Harley Quinn
Jessica Chastain as Poison Ivy

I'd like to expand on what I said earlier about Ivy appearing as most mature (and definitely older than Harley) and least sexualized of the three. I think that is a necessary trait for there to be an interesting dynamic between the characters.

Harley is young and erratic (and in DCEU more sexualized than the classic version of the character), Catwoman can be approached as either carefree or cynical, but she is usually a very lively character with strong sex appeal (that has always been a part of her), so I think that Ivy should be depicted as most level-headed and least of an "eye candy" of the three. They should tone down the seductress part and instead focus on her as eco-terrorist, with a mean streak and strong devotion to her cause.

At least, that's how I would approach it.

Perfect! I would totally be on board with this. Ivy is too often wasted as a seductress and while this is one aspect of her character, I think her love and devotion to the plant world (and connection to the Green) is much more interesting and plays for more powerful stories.

It really is the best way to go with Ivy, because reducing her to only being a seductress is a complete waste, especially when there's so much within her mythology to utilize to establish how strong of a character she is.

I'd very much love for Poison Ivy to be more mature, composed and concise to counter-balance Harley's erratic, unpredictable behavior.

To be honest, I'd be happy if they played down the seductress element for all three. But with Ayer involved...

Exactly... they often neglect what is the strongest and, to me personally, most interesting part of her character.

Glad to see you're on board with this.

Indeed.

I find some comfort in the fact that woman is writing the script, though.

To be honest I would them to correct some of mistakes made In b & R and keep the seductress but without the stupid dust.she should be able to seduce without that.obviously they should not forget her devotion to plants.

big question is will they hint at full range of harley & Ivy's relationship.

Yes. I'm hoping they can be written as having a lot of layers (as they actually do in the comics) and us getting more in-depth with their respective mindsets.

Would love to see them balance how their unique personalities bounce off of one another. They're all substantially different, which is what makes their interactions all the more interesting. If it's all just "sex, sex, sex" I'll be giving it a pass.

Hopefully they dont let Ayer be the stylist for this movie.

I pray to God Poison Ivy and Catwoman don't end up with tattoos. :o

I hope Ayer at least learnt that lesson.

We'll probably get something like Arkham Knight.

A future DC movie under a new director should have Tattooed Man animate all the tattoos covering the characters featured in Ayer's movies and make them run away.

Agreed.

Nope, Catwoman will have "Meow" tatted on her forehead..

I wonder how many of us already made this joke on our own... hopefully it will remain a joke and not much more.

If Tattooed Man ever appears in DCEU, Ayer probably won't forgive himself for passing on the opportunity to be the one to introduce the character.

By the way, what's this rumor about Eiza Gonzales? Hopefully, he's not crazy enough to cast her as Catwoman. I don't mind going for Latino actress, but at least go for someone of proper age and with some actual acting skills.

:funny:

Yep and like David H. said, Ivy gets "tree hugger" tattooed.

And since Harley has "property of the Joker" tattooed Selina gets "sometimes in possession of a bat" as a tramp stamp.

Ayer is so revolutionary!

I only sought out this thread because I read a very small news article somewhere that Poison Ivy is rumoured to be in an upcoming project & that Megan Fox is a name being connected to the role for whatever reason or origin, it's beside the point.

The article in question that I read seemed to indicate fans were up in arms about her potentially being cast. Meanwhile I'm sitting here thinking about Megan Fox as Poison Ivy like:

Yeah, the Gotham City Sirens movie is pretty big news, at least a hundred or more stories about it by now.
But you know how stories are on the internet. One source makes a claim and then dozens of others jump on it and either just quote the first article word for word or just add their own speculation to it.
The only basis for the Megan Fox rumor is supposedly she bought some comic books. So that means I should be up for the role of Supergirl, because I bought some Supergirl comic books.

I bought some Punisher comics the other day. So they totally must be recasting Jon Bernthal for me. ;)

Though I Agree with most that she would be terrible for the role i have to admit this is a great manip of Meg as PI.

I'd take her over Megan Fox any. Day. Of. The. Week.
