For instance, there’s the Police Academy reboot they’re producing. “We were brought on to take the creative lead with it,” Peele tells us. “We got two of our friends, Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen [both of The Mindy Project]—brilliant, funny men. They’re going to be penning the script.”

At this point, Key and Peele aren’t sure if they’ll be in it, though it is an option. “When we start working with the script and seeing it, we’ll make the decision,” Peele says. “Is Key and Peele a distraction from Police Academy? Steve Guttenberg Says New 'Police Academy' Movie is Coming

Maybe Officer Carey Mahoney is just pulling everyone's leg — or maybe another Police Academy film is happening.

Steve Guttenberg, star of the beloved 1980s franchise, tweeted on Monday that a new Police Academy was in the works.

Responding to a Twitter user who asked the star to please film another installment and do it in London, Guttenberg responded, "Adam , the next Police Academy is coming, no details yet, but it is in a gift bag being readied!"

So far there are seven films in the Police Academy franchise, the first released in 1984. Guttenberg starred as Officer Mahoney in a number of the films, but not all.

The first film was an adult comedy, rated R, but the rest of the films in the franchise were geared more towards teens and kids, rated PG-13 and PG.

To date, the last film released in the series was 1994's Police Academy: Mission to Moscow.

The film franchise helped spawn a cartoon series and toy line. It also made actors such as Michael Winslow and Bobcat Goldthwait household names.

Would Judd Apatow be good for those or the makers of Ant Man??

I know it would be a stretch but I think a Ryan Gosling type for the Mahoney would be really interesting and cool. To play that smart ass prankster type with bad luck and screwing with authorities.

No Mahoney shouldn’t be a really good looking alpha male. I would go with someone like Joel McHale but even he’s too buff these days.

Psh, you can't re-cast Guttenberg. Just do older versions of the original group, with a new young group too.

That never works because then the young group just get compares unfavorably to the original group.

If this were 10 years ago, I'd say just get the cast of 40-year-old Virgin to star in it.
