Sin City, Thank you for Smoking, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are all great films IMO.

I'm going with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Got to go with BB. That movie was what lead to me joining the hype! :)

I was torn between Munich and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but went with Munich. Kilmer and Downey had some of the best comedic chemistry I've seen this decade. But I love Munich and Bana. It's epic yet raw and Bana's performance was really the standout of any film that year.

I voted for Serenity. Very tough with all of the terrific movies that came out that year, but I was utterly suprised by Serenity. A buddy and I went to see it at the midnight showing on a whim. Neither of us had seen or even heard of a show called Firefly. We both walked out amazed and talked about what we thought was the best science fiction film in years, for the entire hour long ride home. To this day it is among my favorite films.
I vary on Joss Whedon in general, but I love Firefly and Serenity.

Batman Begins leading the charge by a wide margin. Why am I not surprised?

Is that the only movie you guys saw in 2005 or what?

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was just too thouroughly enjoyable to NOT vote for it.

For me it's like I said above, sentimental value. I joined right when the BB hype was hitting the fan.

Went with Batman Begins. Loved it just as much as The Dark Knight and I think people have forgotten just how great the film really was just because the sequel was so good.

No love for The Proposition? :csad:

Sorry dude, hated that movie. I thought it had interesting ideas but it carried them out really poorly. In my humble opinion, it was a case of brilliant concept, terrible execution. I realize I'm in the minority, but I really wanted to like that movie and I ended up hating it.

In recent years it feels like westerns (even ones set in Australia) feel that the only way to differentiate from the old, John Wayne/Clint Eastwood-style films that marked the genre is to make them as long and drawn out as possible. I personally don't need to see a shoot-out every five minutes but I also will criticize a movie when it bores me to tears.

Fair enough. Just curious, how did you feel about the remake of 3:10 to Yuma?

I do agree with you on BB though, I think I like it more than TDK. After getting over the excitement of seeing Ledger's Joker and a better interpretation of Two Face, I realized after it came out on DVD that I liked BB a bit more. I didn't pick it on this poll because I knew the majority would.

I really liked 3:10 to Yuma, I think because it allowed itself to be exciting while still being a good character study with Bale's, Crowe's and Foster's characters. I've only seen a few scenes from the original though, so I'm not sure how it compares.

Yeah, there are many things I like better about BB than TDK. I loved the epic feel of BB... I understand why they moved away from that in the sequel but it still added something special to the film. I also felt like it delved a bit deeper into Bruce's character and had more heart to it.

Hmm, Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang I might go with. I just laughed my ass off the entire time. Brilliant comedy.

I haven't seen Munich yet. I loved Brokeback Mountain.

I will have to say Batman Begins as well. Just because it was an amazing movie. Though after TDK came out, looking back there were some flaws *Katie Holmes* in BB. But still an excellent film, TDK dethroned it, and improved on things in Begins, but still Begins was a phenomenal film, and all around one of my favorites.

Agreed. I mean this is superherohype after all, but I still do love BB. I sadly didn't see it in theaters but was blown away when I watched it on DVD. I was just so surprised how good it was. I had never seen such level of depth in a Batman film before. The performances, the dialogue, the direction, all surprised me. I loved it.

Though arguably, the first half is the best. At least for me anyway.

I've barely seen any of these movies. I'm was torn between Serenity and a History of violence. But there is one scene in HOV that really bothered me so I', going with the browncoats

I hate to pick the obvious comic book forum pick... but Batman Begins is simply the ****. :O

I didn't realize it was on there, but I gotta give props to Lords of Dogtown. Loved that movie.

Anyone else see a bit of Joker in Skip? His sorta twitchy mannerisms and even the way he said "Look at me" in one particular scene sounded pretty much exactly like Joker.

I really am torn between a couple of movies from 2005 ("Batman Begins", "King Kong", "Revenge of the Sith", and "Sin City"), but I ended up voting for "Batman Begins" because it's going to win anyway.

I'll give this an obligatory bump for last week of the month.

I love Batman begins, but Brokeback mountain was perffection in Drama, and my vote goes for him.

I also liked BB more than TDK. TDK's greatness, Ledger's Joker and proper treatment of Two Face didn't made me forget about BB since I always found Batman more interesting than the villains (even though I think Batman is a comic book character that has one of the best villains).
