Iron Man 2 Possible ARG/Viral Campaign

No one here as figured anything out yet either, huh? I'm with Anita, the "clue" wasn't much of anything and got a bunch of people thinking this ARG was finally kicking off. I hope it starts up soon...

if you look in Tony Stark's eyes you can see Venom

Some friends of mine were swearing up and down it was Edward Norton/Bruce Banner on the right and not Tony. It's amazing what people can see in an image. :wow:

its not a clue for IM2 its a clue for the Voltron movie..."It's a lion"

The anagram idea isn't working out... so I'm starting to lose hope. Though, I really don't see any other clues, what else could there be?

:(

Maybe I'll just wait for another "clue".

I think waiting is best right now

Found by ... hundreds of people ... yesterday!

In fact, here's a cropping of it:

I know I'm late to this, but excellent find!

This really isn't getting near the Dark Knight viral level of response.. Seems fishy..

If you ask me I'd say the misspellings stick out a lot as something to look more into.

OR

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the blurry image over his right shoulder. (Looks like it could be a picture of Hammer) ..(if that's already been brought up and shot down please spare me)

That's cause we were TOLD it's a clue and that's no fun compared to finding something ourselves.

Plus there's no obvious trailhead to be found here. :oldrazz:

it does kind of detract from the alternate reality aspect of the game when they come right out and tell you it's a clue :/

I'm convinced the clue / game has something to do with the misspelled words. I think the image was released in a high quality, so fans would be able to read the article and spot these key words and letters. I'm not sure what "Secret" being highlighted means however.

I also find it interesting that the N and U are missing from Trauma and Substantial. Since there are already 2 Ns and 1 U in the anagram below, I'm thinking that the final message doesn't have the need for the extra N and U, but rather an added D and E.

Anagram solver: http://wordsmith.org/anagram/advanced.html

S-U-B-S-T-A-T-I-A-L
T-R-A-M-A
K-I-D-D-E-N-A-P-P-I-N-G

Letters in the Anagram - Appearances in paranthesis.
A(5)-B(1)-D(2)-E(1)-G(1)-I(3)-K(1)-L(1)-M(1)-N(2)-P(2)-R(1)-S(2)-T(3)-U(1) - 27 letters total.

Letters NOT in the Anagram:
C-F-H-J-O-Q-V-W-X-Y-Z

The following Iron Man related words can be found in the above anagram.

INDUSTRIES
MANDARIN
STARK
STANE
TEN RINGS

In an attempt to draw some conclusions, the following words are just words that can be made from the above letters, in alphabetical order.

AND
AT
BEAR
BIKE (BIKING)
BURN
BUS
GAME
GLAD
IF
KIDNAP (KIDNAPPING)
KING
LAP
LEARN (LEARNING)
MAD
MAKE (MAKING)
MARS
MEN
NAP (NAPPING)
PAIN
PAPA
PUP
PEN
RENT (RENTING)
RING
SAD
SLAP (SLAPPING)
SUBSTANTIAL
TEAM
TEN
TRAUMA
TURN (TURNING)
UP

1) To me, the arrow means nothing. A lot of commenters stated that it means Green Arrow or Hawkeye, but I think it's just a simple design put in the article.

2) The picture to the left is obviously not Bruce Banner, so I'm not sure why people are still on this idea. The picture to the left is very similar to the one posted by me on the last page with Stark simply being in his lab, and not a bar.

3) The writer and photographer of the article have Iron Man crew names, so I don't think they hold any clues either.

4) The Iron Man image on the left is simply that, an Iron Man image as seen in the Ivan Vanko lab image, and not War Machine.

Of course, I could be completely going in the wrong direction, but why spell 3 words wrong in 1 sentence?

Do you think it would help to assume that we should be looking for a web address? I think that would be a logical place for this clue to lead

Where in the hell do you see a hammer? Is Venom holding it?

it does kind of detract from the alternate reality aspect of the game when they come right out and tell you it's a clue :/

Especially when the clue seems to be a non-clue. I thought for sure the next phase would kick-off in response to the applications submitted but guess not. We need a ninja up in here.

The word secret is highlighted and the arrow highlights no apparent trauma. Bringing his drinking issue and depression to the movie?

SUBSTATIAL, TRAMA, KIDDENAPPING.

Three misspelled words.

The missing/added letters are N, U, D, and E.

What if the clue is not some complicated anagram? What if the missing/added letters are all we're supposed to find?

My first thought is also the most simple: what if the missing/added letters are supposed to correspond to their numbers in the alphabet?

N=14
U=21
D=4
E=5

Anybody notice those numbers (in any order) floating around any where? Are those numbers a secret password for the next stage of the game?

It seems too easy, I know, but you never know. Maybe it's supposed to be easy, since it is only the first clue.
