Iron Man 2 Possible ARG/Viral Campaign

Thats fine...I just dont see the subplot of Starks dad making them as working. if the big secret is that old man stark made some robts and Hammer has taken cntrol of them, then count me as unimpressed.

In that particular subplot? or the entire plot of the movie?

The movie is already a bit of a mess. Lets face it, Thor takes place in another realm, captain America takes place in the past...so this movie has to set up Iron man 3, Avengers, Captain America and possibly Thor...heck, maybe even dealing with Hulk loose ends...and at the same time work War Machine into the action, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Whiplash, Pepper Potts, Justin Hammer...and some back story with Starks dad...and again, thats NOT including the Mandarin! The movie isnt 4 hours long...so you're already looking at a cramped film. If youre going to have a dark secret subplot with Starks dad, it better be a blockbuster or it just complicates an already complicated story.

yeah, who even said its a subplot it could be the whole plot of the movie.

I'm sure it is the plot, or heavily involved in the plot, but if it needlessly involves Starks dad then that just east up time that could be spent developing characters, especially considering that all of these characters will have to fight for time to be developed.

If the secret affects this movie, for instance, Stark made the robots Hammer uses, then it is a waste of time and they should have had Hammer invent them himself.

If old man Starks secret impacts Captain America and Avengers, then the time spent is worth it.

I heard it has to do with
Howard Stark working on the SSS and Captain America.

you getting too worried most likely they going to spent some time to develop the characters. plus i remember hearing that this movie might end with a cliffhanger im not sure if its true but that could be very interesting.

I mean I get that... if that is the purpose of the movie... I don't think it is suppose to set up Avengers, Captain America, Thor, or The next Hulk... It'll probably be something like...

-Government is trying to get him... Too bad... move onto next plot piece
-Shield is trying to get Tony's info... Too bad... Send in Black Widow... Fight sequence... they don't kill each other cuz she is hot... she says something about Tony's father... then she disappears for a hour...
- Somewhere in between those two, Whiplash is like (Your daddy killed my daddy, now I'm going to use your daddy's tech to kill you)
- Whiplash... I KILL YOUR RACE CAR... HERE COMES IRON MAN... oh ****... something is wrong... I barley beat you cuz my chest piece was ****ing up... dat how you got away
- Tony... oh ****... my chest piece is ****ing up... I'm dying...
- Tony... oh ****... my dad was a real hero... oh ****... gotta worry about dying... I'll save my response to my daddy issues until after the credits (Or and alt version of this is that Black Widow isn't with SHIELD yet and is actually with Hammer trying to get Starks tech... Tells Tony something horrible about his dad... plants to proof... Tony gets drunk and goes to hang out in a donut)
- While trying to figure out why he is dying Tony finds out his dad made robots and worked with some iteration of SHIELD back in the day...
- Rhodes is like... well... while Tony is busy... He might need to be replaced... enter Warmachine via Hammer... who gets the information he needs to activate the robo killers
- Awwww **** ya... Tony figures out his **** right in time to save the world from Robos...
- Some stuff that provides us closure happens
- Credits
- Enter Sam Jackson... Tony says... "I'll do it."
- The End

Well... Now that I write that all out... it does sounds a bit complicated...

Back in the 1940's, during Stark-Expo, a world fair held in New York city to help solve the World's energy problems, Howard Stark supposedly did something to Dr. Anton Vanko. Something capable of creating an revenge wish so strong it was carried out by Anton's son, Ivan. Tony wants to find out what Howard did, and, in the process, also uncovers the truth behind his father's envolvement with...

... Project Rebirth, the Supersoldier program.

Maybe we should get an organize plot hypothesizing thread going :)

What you typed sounds complicated, AND you gave one scene to develop each plot point. The movie is walking a tight rope between telling an involved story and telling an 80s action film style story with no character development.

Until proven wrong then I am convinced that Tonys dad, Whiplashs dad and Captain America all interacted in WW2. This tells me that Tonys dad was likely a bad guy...considering that the government deemed Captain America a failure and didnt care about saving him. This Legacy that is on Starks shoulders could lead him to join a team...could lead him to find captain America...could lead him to drink heavily due to guilt. It makes sense and can all fit together, where no other theory Ive heard does.

Okay, so back on topic...

Does anyone have any ideas where the 3 clues lead to?

-Yes we know it involves Tony's past, but I mean a website or something...

The Supersoldier program was considered a failure because...

. In the regular Universe, the man who created the Supersoldier Serum, Dr. Reinstein, was murdered by a Nazi spy. Since he kept all the secrets of the formula in his mind to protect it from spies, no one was able to perfectly mimic the formula.

. In the Ultimate Universe, every other test subject other than Steve Rogers died because their organisms wouldn't adapt to the Serum.

I find much easier to have one of these explanations than to make Tony's dad a villain.

Yes, but in the movies, the super soldier program is considered a failure BUT Captain America had already had adventures which will be shown in the movie.

So, how is it a failure if it worked and created the greatest hero of all?????

Simple. It worked...but Captain America wouldnt do what he was asked to do...so they turned on him and deemed the project a failure.

Or maybe it's because Captain America, the only succesful Supersoldier, "died" in the end of the war and every other try to reactivate the project ressulted in chaos (An unspecified character in Vietnam and Hulk today).

And they just left Cap in ice???

I cant imagine the Captain America movie ending with him losing...unless its to a villain they will have to take on later...which would be the United States military. the military are bad guy in Incredible Hulk, and they arent exactly good guys in iron man 2 since they are trying to force Tony to surrender the armor.

I'm thinking Captain America will win, but barely. He's wounded very badly and ends up in the ice. Everybody thinks he's dead. BOOM. There you have it.

This.

Plus, Captain America with his shield is an army on it's own.

Easy there, this is what I think happens.

Steve stops a bomb from reaching USA but falls into the ocean as a result of it. When he wakes up, everyone will be is enemy at the start, he's in the future, surrounded by people he doesn't know and new tech he will probably never understand. Steve will side with the military when he realizes what The Hulk is, raw rage. The military isn't the bad guy at all, they're just protecting innocent civilians from The Hulk, like in TIH, Ross says The Hulk killed countless civilians. And in Iron Man 2, they're not villains at all, Stark was a military poster-child for more than half his life. He made them amazing, new weapons. And they're just mad he won't share his/the worlds greatest weapon for military use on the battlefield. Which is what he was going completely against. If he gave over his suit to the military, he might as well blow himself and all his Iron Man suits up.

Didn't really work well... did it?
