From what ive been hearing, Theres a good chance that Heroes might not make it to a fifth season. is anyone disapointed by this as much as i am? I have so much faith in this show and it just keeps getting better but it seems as though no one will give it a chance anymore.

Source? Links? Other than that...you made a thread about a topic that has been discussed for a while now.

Do you mean 5th season or 5th volume ? This is only the third season, so it's way to far away to judge that.

Heroes is getting better ratings on NBC than any show not called ER at the moment. And ER is getting the big ratings because it is the final season and they are having return appearances from all the old doctors from the show, making it a novelty to see people like Clooney, Edwards, etc on the show again.

What sense would it make to cancel the highest non-gimmick ratings cow on the network?

Since when do network execs make sense?
Especially to people who don't understand that ratings != money.

That said, its too early to tell.

If you ask me, I say let it stay on. Cut the sfx budget, and the number of powered people, and increase the number of normals affected by all these crazy happenings. I'd much rather Heroes continue on a few seasons, limping along in tepid mediocrity, as a sort of punishment for wasting all the potential that S1 offered. In other words: Death is too good for Heroes, right now. Keep those cameras rolling.

Plug: This is why the gripes thread should stay on the front page.

Because their production budget is incredibly high. Other shows aren't as expensive to make. Heroes needs to pull in certain numbers to justify its production cost. Otherwise it is pointless to produce, even if it is the top rated show on NBC. Plus The Office and 30 Rock have higher ratings than Heroes.

I think this is more of a "I want Heroes canceled because it sucks," sort of deal spread by fans across the net instead of an actual source from NBC announcing it.

I think Chaseter is right.

But I would add that the sentiment is more a "Heroes isn't going exactly the way it does in my fantasy land so I want it cancelled" feeling.

I didn't even know there would be a fifth Volume. All I know is there's going to be a fourth Volume. But I did hear there cutting back, there's supposed to be five or six episodes but now there's only going to be 4 I heard some thing like that. Awe well, life.

Don't know what you mean by this. Volume four (the second half of this season) is still a twelve episode arc.

Now when season four rolls around, that's where we could see a reduction of episodes. The only reason we have 25 episodes this season is because NBC wanted to give them two extra episodes to make up for the hiatus from the strike.

Nailed it. Kind of sad this wasn't locked by one of the Mod's for the unverified, sourceless crock that it is.

I think you all need to read the art of civility thread before you continue with your veilled insults.

Everyone has read it. I just don't see the point in this thread when it was been talked about in other threads. I would agree that this thread would be beneficial if their was a source from NBC. I heard a rumor that they will deffinitely be shooting 4 seasons no matter what but I didn't make a thread???

If you don't see the point of it, just don't post in it and let the thread die a natural death.

Maybe. Maybe not. To take the articles written about Heroes and the massive drop in ratings together, it doesn't take a great deal of creativity to imagine that Heroes will be cancelled. It certainly doesn't seem like its going to make it to season 7 and 8 like other popular genre shows.

Also, the clinging to this idea of a dissatisfaction with Heroes coming from a point of preference in events, rather than a widely discerned drop in quality -- the notion is silly. How many well thought out, loving but firm articles do you need to catch on that the mass exodus from Heroes has nothing to do with 'things not going how I like.'

I doubt they will cancel it since it is still pulling in good ratings. If anything I just see them cutting the budget and some of the cast.

We may be getting Fuller back. It was just announced that Pushing Daisies has not been renewed.

From TVbytheNumbers.com:

Heroes fans: a.) I’m still watching. Begrudgingly perhaps, but still watching. b.) it’s not going to get cancelled at these levels, but it can’t keep going down either, and finally, and most of all, c.) all that DVR, internet viewing, iTunes, blah, blah, blah? Save it for someone who cares (perhaps Ben Silverman)!? There are two reasons it doesn’t matter:
It’s true these numbers don’t count all viewing, but it’s also true that it’s basically these broadcast viewing numbers (or a variant of them we don’t have access to) that pays the bills. And even factoring all of that other stuff in, the trend is definitely down. In the most recent live+7 viewing, Heroes didn’t crack 10 million viewers even with DVR baked in. While the method that NBC uses to report its internet streaming is BS and they haven’t really figured out how to make any money from it, even that trend is down.
I think the best NBC can really hope to do is stop the bleeding for Heroes here at these levels. It’s very hard for serialized shows to reclaim viewers once it has lost them. If you think that those viewers are now watching online, you’re wrong. Some of the lost viewing, sure, but make no mistake: Heroes has less viewing than it had in season one or season two, or even at the beginning of the current season. Those viewers didn’t find an alternate viewing mechanism, they bailed on the show completely. NBC knows this.

If only it wasn't so much to ask that Heroes now throws away all the episodes in volume four that they have finished... and just start over with Fuller smacking Kring and the other writers down.

Hey I'm fine it doesn't get a Volume 5/6/7 LOL As long as they finish Volume 4 and give it a good ending. They better not have Peter/Matt/Nathan/Noah/Tracey/Elle/Syler die I'd be fine if they kill Claire.

Just like in comic books!
Except they would just want to bring in new writers and artists.
Shame, Heroes does not suck this season as much as some fans are saying.
