So is there another buzzfeed poll with 100+k votes ranking the DCEU films? I'm curious to see where JL ranks. Likely above BVS and MOS since those two were last in the other poll.

 

[Batmannerism]

Wonder Woman: far and away the best film of the lot. And a genuinely good film in any context. The rest aren't.

Man Of Steel: A meandering bore which has no conception of the character it's adapting.

Justice League: A terrible movie. But in the context of BvS, just seeing the characters done some justice and a more cheerful tone makes it a more bearable experience.

Batman V Superman: An unmitigated disaster. Utterly tone deaf. Thunderously misguided. Competely boring. Irrevocably damaging.

Suicide Squad: Objectively even worse than BvS. But manages to be more entertaining by its sheer wackiness. Ayer doesn't have Snyder's capacity to make every non-action scene bewilderingly uninvolving.

Okay, I disagree with you on Man of Steel, but everything else I think you're almost spot on - and I couldn't have described those films any better myself, that's some impressive wordsmithing there my friend !

Man of Steel, to me, got some things right, some things wrong but all in all I thought it a good film. The Smallville battle is better than anything in any other DCEU film, and that includes WW.

Amy Adams was the first likeable Lois IMO - although her character is terribly written in JL, as is Diane Lane's Martha Kent.

While I liked Henry Cavill as Superman- and boy does he look the part - the frist time I saw him in the suit....chills, it's like Superman walked out of the comics and onto the screen, I think the kids who played young Clark didn't get anywhere near enough credit.


Pa Kent's death I thought was the weakest part of the film, and the most nonsensical.

Many complain about Zod, but I quite liked him and found his motivations made sense (although the way he went about them was stupid).

I liked the whole terraforming bit - and the Kryptonians were a legitimate world-ending threat, so truly a job for Superman.

Alright so Man of Steel, for me a good film and very underrated - sure not as joyful as the Reeve movies.

But, with regards to JL, B v S and SS I agree - although I prefer B v S to SS in the way I prefer a punch in the head to a kick in the balls.

I found SS just about unwatchable, where as B v S was merely painful to watch.

Justice League - okay, I wouldn't say it's terrible.....but it's not very good, just tolerable because they start getting the heroes right.

Harley Quinn saved the movie for me. If you liked Wonder Woman you might like Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad as she was also kicking ass and taking names and didn't take any crap from anybody.
But yeah, other than that SS wasn't much of a movie to write home about.

WW - 5/10 (all in all a decent movie that would be a solid 7, but the horrible 3rd act brings it down to 5)

JL - 3.5/10 (salvagable, somehow. good bits here and there. they finally got Supes right, but that is not enough to be anywhere near a decent movie)

MoS - 3.5/10 (the script needed a couple of rewites and the director had clearly no idea who the characters were. it's lifeless, soulless, cynical. it's everything a movie about Superman should not be)

SS - 2/10 (at least it had colours)

BvS - 0.5/10 (Just bad. Not even in a funny way, except for the 'Martha' scene, but incompetently made on every level, withought thought and again soulless garbage)

Weird to think that Wonder Woman turned out to be the best movie by far. My favorite comic book movie since Batman Begins. More weird: choosing your "Top 3" out of the DECU seems... cynical.

Having digested my first viewing of Justice League and had a second viewing I now feel I can fairly judge where I am with the 4 films. Of course subsequent rewatches of any of the film's can change my feelings, that's just how it is with everything.
