+ 1 billion box office and certified fresh consensus on Rotten Tomatoes
Agreed. I can't see any less being considered a success on those 2 measures.

Not necessarily the case considering Marvel just did that with Infinity War, and that's probably their most confident tentpole yet.
If WB was confident then JL2 would have continued to be part of their slate. We're still getting Avengers 4, it's just morphed into something else.
They're not mutually exclusive. A prominent example is Civil War was made as a direct response to the upcoming Batman v. Superman. That's another point. To me WB self-confidence is like "What is Marvel doing? We've gotta do something to knock them down" instead of "We need to make a good film for our audience."
Lets not forget just how much money has probably already been spent on Justice League. In normal circumstances the budget will be 400 million including promotion and marketing, but youve got to think with all the ongoing reshoots, the amount must be crawling to 500 million, if not over it.
So a success is what? Well over a billion at the box office? Its got to reach that to even be considered a minor financial success. And Im just not seeing a billion for the direct sequel to a poorly received, under performing movie with unlikeable characters.
I think a success for JL at the moment is break even, with at least a lukewarm critical and audience response. But that wont save JL2 at all, not with this iteration of the characters.

Chances are it will be but not like Wonder Woman or Man of Steel
