At this point w/the last two sentai series' looking like utter crap (the train theme especially) I would urge Saban to look at other options down the road. I personally really liked the spy themed sentai w/ three rangers and i can see that being popular here in the states. But the newer dinosaur and the latest train themes are utter jokes. Knowing Saban, they wouldn't do this but it'd be cool to have them design their own power rangers series. It's not absolutely out of line as Saban has done this, the Titanium ranger if you remember was specifically designed for that series and looked so awesome. The budget would definitely be upped but say for example they ditched Kyoryuger, the new dinosaur themed sentai which looks awful. In favor of a return to the classic dinosaurs we grew up w/. Tsuyoshi Nonaka the artist/designer of MMPR and Samurai showed off concepts he's been toying around w/ for possible future usage not too long ago. I gotta say w/ a couple few tweaks here and there and a kick-ass story this could be epic. And by the time they get to it it could very well be 25th anniversary series?

Of course, Saban probably wouldn't wanna go this route as i don't believe they'd invest in such a series. But it sure is a awesome idea that i've been hearing lately. And if sentai doesn't get better. I mean come on, that new train series looks absolutely unusable it looks like something from the 80's. Then doing something different is probably the waay to go I'd say.

The Power Rangers series I want to happen has a Spirit/Warrior theme, so they would look totally boss. And their Zords would in the vein/style of the Shogun Megazords from MMPR.

Train Rangers? Not so much.

Here is something very rare specifically for the hardcore SENTAI / POWER RANGER fans: My behind-the-scenes of Gosei Sentai Dairanger home video - 2 hours worth to be exact. (Sorry for the poor quality)

When we started the original MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS my producers wanted me to duplicate the economical shooting methods used by the Japanese film makers back then for the fight scenes while still using standard Hollywood coverage for the acting scenes. That is precisely what I did by employing some of the techniques seen in this video - although with a better camera and a much smaller crew.

In this video you can see some of the Zord footage we used to splice into our show as it is being shot as well as the Japanese stunt team and actors at work. The voice is that of my producer explaining things as he videotapes.

This video is meant as a special 'thank you' from me to all Sentai and Power Ranger fans past and present who helped make the early shows such a huge success. Thank you all and I hope you get a kick out of it.

Looks like the theme for this are trains? The helmets visors are train tracks and the numbers on the uniforms are like station numbers maybe? All in all it looks like they did ran out of ideas and trying to save money?

I'm all for a season made from scratch. In fact, my Power Rangers idea is exactly that. It's also a slightly more mature version, it has a good message, but doesn't beat you over the head with it like Megaforce does about protecting the Earth.

Kids aren't stupid (at least I hope they're not), don't patronize them.

Aside from Dairanger which was deemed too violent(but parts of it were used) No season can be skipped. It's in Saban's contract. They legally cannot skip a season by contract.

Kyoryuger's design is actually pretty fantastic, but I agree with you that Tokkyuger look like crap. As for Saban designing their own suits, well they have done it in PR Samurai, with the power rangers changing their suits made by Saban when they entered the cockpit of the Megazord. But quite frankly, those suits are fugly and shown me that Saban doesn't know how to do it better than Toei.

There has never been a sentai based on train, so this is actually a new idea. On the other hand, Kyoryuger is the third dinosaur sentai so Toei is also guilty of rehashing old ideas, but the franchise is over 25 years so it's bound to happen anyway.

I just wish they would reboot the whole franchise. I've loved some of the shows they've done(In Space, Lost Galaxy,Time Force and SPD). I think bringing it back to the big screen would be something to think about it, especially with the way some movies are getting looked at like Transformers. You also look at the Iron Man approach with the suit and how the Rangers could use it. There's so much potential here for Power Rangers to be well known again.

I just wish they would reboot the whole franchise. I've loved some of the shows they've done(In Space, Lost Galaxy,Time Force and SPD). I think bringing it back to the big screen would be something to think about it, especially with the way some movies are getting looked at like Transformers. You also look at the Iron Man approach with the suit and how the Rangers could use it. There's so much potential here for Power Rangers to be well known again.

I don't think a reboot is necessary. After all why should we ignore the history set before us? All we need is a series that accepts what both Power Rangers is, and what the world is now.

You can still have the fun/goofiness of the series while delivering epic characters, storylines, villains, and making each battle feel epic and thrilling.

That can be done with the correct writer and theme of Power Rangers. Just get me in front of Saban and I'll make it happen.

I was with you up until this point.


Now I'll agree that the rangers themselves in OO aren't nearly as bad as people say (I found myself liking them all at seasons end, compared to when I hated them all at the start).

HOWEVER, horrible villains and a terrible plot (Don't even get me started on the "real boy" arc"), as well as a lackluster design, make that show one of the worst. And up until 'Samurai' and 'Megaforce', I'd be hard pressed to say it wasn't THE worst.


S.P.D. and DT still rank pretty damn high for me.

S.P.D., with all of its flaws, was still a damn good show, and STILL the best we've had (outside of RPM) since 2002.

And DT was very good as well (I'd put it in, at least, the top 8 shows). And I feel it worked incredibly well as a spiritual sequel to MMPR.

But yeah. OO, imo, ranks alongside MMPR S1, and Wild Force. At best.

S.P.D. has the worst pacing and story structure of any season in the entire franchise and a *****ebag Red Ranger who's as worthless as he is unlikable, and DT's strengths are canceled out by the fact that Tommy, the character it is built around, is so completely OOC that you could've made him a brand-new character and it actually would've been an improvement (and yes, I consider myself a Tommy fan).

The only reason MMPR S1 is viewed favorably is because of nostalgia. Looked at objectively, it is really not a good season.
