Predators 2

I think a problem with Predators was the budget, $40 isnt that much and not enough to make an epic sci-fi film. If a sequel is made surely the budget will go and we can get more ideas thrown in there.

It was a little too concerned with homaging the original though.

The budget definitely hendered it and I remember Rodriguez did say he had alot bigger and gradnier ideas but the studio wouldnt pay that much. I would be willing to give Rob another stab at a sequel with an actual budget and proper effects. I remember coming out of the theater and my friend was telling me he didnt like it because it seemed very safe and a retread of what we already knew. He was saying how even though it wa shot on location it still felt low budget and the story played like a very early concept.

^Yeah even though I liked the movie I can see your friends points, I think director may have been a problem as well, he wasnt that experience and it tended to show sometimes, I think if RR directs the next Predator movie, it will be better.

Whether he has the time though, that is another question.

As long as it is Rated R and keeps it's Sci Fi-Action Horror theme, we should be satisfied.

I remade the Prometheus trailers as a Predator film in my head while bored at work.

It starts with Gina Carano investigating paintings of Predators in caves with piles of human skulls.

Cut to;

Gina Carano and Tom Hardy in formal military uniforms, (Accolades and stuff pinned all over them) explaining the events of the prior films in a military briefing scene. Including a shot of a visibly shaken Arnold Schwarzenegger sitting in the audience.

CARANO: "NORAD have picked up those same light signatures landing in South America"

SCOTT ADKINS, (Boyka style shaved head, covered in tattoos) "It's a UFO?"

CARANO: "It's a challenge"

ADKINS: "From who?"

Title Card:

FROM DIRECTOR JOHN MCTIERNAN

DIRECTOR OF
DIE HARD

PREDATOR

Cut to:

Black Hawk helicopters landing in mountainous terrain.

MICHAEL JAI WHITE (V.O.): "OWLF have landed."

Cut to:

The grunts suiting up, rolling out.

SCHWARZENEGGER (V.O.): "How far, would you be willing to go, to get your answers?"

MONTAGE of the commando unit investigating the Predator spaceship.

SCHWARZENEGGER (V.O. cont) "What would you be willing to do?"

CARANO: "Command, are you seeing this?"

CUT TO:

MICHAEL JAI WHITE and RHONA MITRA at the command center.

JAI WHITE: "What the hell?"

MITRA: "They where right."

TITLE CARD:

THEY WENT SEARCHING

CUT TO:

Schwarzenegger shining a flashlight at a Predator trophy case.

TITLE CARD:

FOR THE ULTIMATE HUNT

FADE IN:

CARANO kneeling and praying.

MULTIPLE (V.O.): "What is that?" "We've got incoming three clicks west of your location." "Are these things moving?" *Jumbled radio transmission* "WHERE HAS IT GONE NOW?" "WE GOT A MAN DOWN HERE!" "COMMAND!" "GET TO DA CHOPPAH!" "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON DOWN THERE?!?!?!?!"

TITLE CARD:

TITLE CARD:

Montage of action beats.

JAI WHITE (V.O.) "Kill everything! Do you copy?"

CUT TO:

Hard close up of CARANO

CARANO: "If we don't make a stand, there wont be anyone left to get to the chopper!"

PREDETHEUS

In the thread for the first Predators movie (that is, the first one titled "Predators"), I had mentioned that a prequel would be the best way to go with this franchise. Predators in Feudal Japan; Predators in Medeival Europe; Predators in Ancient Rome; Predators in The Incan Empire; Predators in The Wild West; etc, etc, etc.

They could even use Predators to be the precursors of many of Earth's mythical beasts. For example . . .

A predator comes to Earth during The Dark Ages. It lands in Scandinavia during a very warm summer. It begins hunting the vikings. The viking king sends word across the land, seeking a champion to defeat this "monster". A band of vikings answers the call. Their captains name? Beowulf! The name the locals have given the predator? Grendal!

Or it could land in England and be called a troll. It could land in China or Japan and be called ogre-magi. It could land in North America and be called Wendigo or Sasquatch. The list goes on and on. A little research into mythological monsters and legends and you have a near endless supply of possible Predator stories.

Interesting idea, that would be more original than whatever they can come up to make it set in the present or the future.

Wow, some of you are unjustly harsh. This movie franchise isn't meant to have a deep, meaningful story or an impact. It's just a alien hunter using humans as sport. In that regard the story did fine. The attempt to squeeze more out of it just sours that and turns it into the kind of crap you say you think it is.

These movies were/are all about the action, blood, gore and impossibility of the situation. It's about survival, plain and simple. Survive becoming a trophy to some badass alien hunter.

Don't pretend to be a movie critic. I hate those guys (movie critics). Not everything must be important. Film is artistic and even if it lacks a story that emotionally or intellectually does something that doesn't make it bad.

Or you can ignore that aspect of filmmaking and keep trashing movies because they don't live up to an impractical standard.

A sequel would be nice but I don't think they'll do one any time soon. Certainly not one like some of you seem to think all movies should be.

"Blah, blah, blah. I'm defending this movie because I'm a fan."

A Predator story doesn't need to be 'deep', but it didn't need to be lackluster and shallow. The whole film felt like a subpar reboot, and didn't try hard enough to distinguish itself from the original Predator (the Hounds and Super-Predators were lazy attempts).

And you're attacking it because it failed to live up to some standard in your mind. What's the difference? That you'll dismiss anyone who says "don't take it so seriously." It's not great, it's not perfect nor original. It's a sequel to a franchise that was/is on the verge of death and compared to the previous movies it does a fine job of returning to its roots.

Fine job? Hardly.

I'm not attacking, I'm stating my opinion, and I have that right. Any fool can say it's a dig against the film but I believe it's fair criticism. The dialogue was bland, the characters weren't appealing or engaging, and the story was poorly written and constructed. So, like I said, Predators was a C+ movie that accomplished nothing.

The Noland 'subplot' and Edwin's 'twist' should have made it clear on how hollow the script was by the end of the film.

I really want to see a Predator movie set in the past. Either in the wild west, or the Viking days. Who wouldn't want to see Predators vs. Vikings?

He wasn't talking about you complaining about the movie, it was that you just didn't accept his opinion of the movie

I didn't because accept what he or she stated because the poster made it clear that everyone is a 'critic' nowadays.

Those would be cool. Wouldn't mind a Predator movie set during World War II either, with a Predator being caught in the middle of a battle between the Allies and Nazis, and he finds a lot of worthy prey among both sides.

Or between the Americans and the Japanese in the South Pacific, thus adding the requisite heat for the heat & conflict which attracts the Predators. At least I don't remember the Nazis being stationed in the South Pacific, but I'm not a total WWII buff so I could be wrong.

Bumped 'cause I just watched the movie again.

I still say a prequel set some time in Earth's history would be the best way to go.

Predators vs Spartans

Predators vs Apache Indians

Predators vs Vikings

Predators vs Samurai/Ninja

Predators vs Knights

The list of possibilities goes on and on.

A Predator film can be done, any place, anywhere. Colonial Marines anyone?

I'm down for a prequel taking place before the original movie.
