Predators 2

He was spotted by a human 5 minutes after his landing or Earth or maybe you are both talking about his look ?

That's only because he wasn't a cheater and didn't use his cloak 24/7, like the first Predator. :o Also, he was preoccupied with getting rid of evidence and didn't expect one lonely human to do another search round.

The first film was by far the best, and they've never managed to get the formula right since.

Parts of the first film were genuinely creepy, like the times they were staring into the jungle and could feel something watching them. I've never felt that chill with any subsequent films. I dunno what it was - the tone of the film, the jungle backdrop, whatever - but they can't seem to replicate it.

The only Predator film I want to see now is one with an aged (and traumatised) Dutch being contacted by the US army and brought back as a consultant of sorts because bodies are being discovered again - hung up and skinned.

Even if they can't make a Movie as good as the first one, I'm still puzzled by the fact they can't even recreate the life-like quality of the first Predator. Even with Predator 2 the quality of the face kinda went down a bit. I don't want them to just copy the first Predator, but nothing comes even close to looking as realistic as the first Predator did. They also can never get the skin between his mandibles right. They always look kinda flabby.

Yeah the first predator (skin, armor, eyes, hands) looked very real.

It pulls you in completely and makes you forget it's just an actor wearing rubber and plastic.

But much respect goes to Kevin Peter Hall. His movements were incredibly convincing and outer-worldly. RIP

I hope that 3D Bluray announcement wasnt what the poster/hype was for. If so then f*** that

Why not? Arnold is jumping back into practically every other franchise he's ever done (Terminator, Conan, TWINS)... seriously, why not bring him back to the Predator series? Seems like a win-win.

And have him throw a walker at the Predator? He was in his prime and still barely able to hold his own and that was nearly 30 years ago. It was a stretch when Danny Glover did it in Predator 2 let alone a man in his 60's doing it now.

I've been wanting to see that for years. I'd also add in Harrigan and Fiona from Part 2. Maybe cast a bunch of fresh young (or at least younger) action stars as a group of elite soldiers trained specifically to battle the Preds (the government knows about them now, you can bet they'll be prepared for them now). Of course, the latest Pred just mows through them all anyway.

Regardless, the basic point is that the 'earth like conditions' made it feel redundant, and it would've been better off in a more unique, otherwordly environment.

What kind of conditions should they be put in? "Let's hunt them in Mars like conditions . . . S**t, their heads just exploded. I know! Let's hunt them in Mercury type conditions . . . Dammit! They've incinerated. How about Moon type conditions? Great, now they've suffocated. Well those hunts are a wash. What do you say we use a planet with Earth type conditions next?"

About AvP:R - what good is the perfect Predator and all that action if you cant even make out what's going on in the night/sewer scenes?

I still don't understand how they messed that up. I watched it in theaters and could see everything clearly. But the image on the blu-ray/DVD release is completely darkened.

I saw it in the theater and it was dark then too. Yours must have lightened up the film more or else mine was too dim. Couldn't tell what was going on half the time.

I don't think it's that simple. When you lighten up a movie thats originally very dark, you notice that stuff. Like, shadows being too bright. AvP:R was dark, because naturally most of it took place at night, but you should have been able to make out pretty much everything. But the blu-ray/DVD release is dark dark. Many people pointed out that the image has been messed up compared to the theater release.

I remember being so excited for AVPR after hating AVP and I was so angry at how bad it was it ruined the whole following week for me.

As long as the tone and style of an AVP were in line with ALIENS/PREDATOR those films would have been great. Instead they were more in line with PREDATOR 2. And I enjoy P2. It was in and out of my vcr aloot as a kid. But it seemed like an unoriginal and chintzy version. Many scenes in AVP and almost all of AVP:R feel like cheap knockoffs.

A human that didn't make it far enough to tell anybody about it.

He also wiped out nearly an entire Alien army and hybrid single-handedly, that's what I was looking at.

But to be fair, some silly things did happen in the movie. Like Wolf getting jumped by two Aliens and not immediately getting shredded into pieces. Especially when he held them by the throat at arms length. Or when the Predalien managed to sneak up on him twice, and instead of impaling him, just knocks him around.

I dig Predator 2 because it expands the mythos in ways that feel organic and naturally progressive from what came before. Everything after Predator 2 seems like half-baked hackjobs by comparison.

I though Predators expanded the mythos in a great way, adding in the other Predators, the tribe war and the game reserve.

Looks like it's just a 3D conversion of the original movie.
