How can some of y'all seriously hope for a movie to fail? Honestly, do you hope for random people to lose jobs? Do you hope for people to get in car accidents? Drastic examples, I know, but it's all the same.

Some people are sick of formulaic generic movies that have no substance and are all style and cost ridiculous amounts of money. Whereas lesser projects with better prospects and more creative and meatier plots and ideas get left out in the cold by hollywood execs who know nothing of these aforementioned notions, only caring of their own finacial gain.

Meh,all movies are generic in one way or another IMO,there is no escaping it actually! And usually, most people who see movies that you say get left out in cold don't do good at the box office alot of the time. If it makes you feel better, know that Speed Racer costed 120$ million to make which bombed big time at the box office.

That's a pig headed point of view. How can you predict "forumlaic generic movies that have no substance and are all style and cost ridiculous amounts of money" from a teaser or theatrical trailer? It's impossible to. Anything else is prejudice. It seems like you are putting blame on some of the "bigger" movies because the movies that you happened to like (the "lesser projects") are overshadowed by them.

Actually, the bigger projects I'm left looking forward to this summer are Dark Knight and Indy. Other than that I guess Hellboy 2 and maybe I'll check out that weird horror movie, The Strangers. I enjoyed Iron Man thoroughly as well. I'm just stating the state of a large chunk of Hollywood these days, what with all the canabilizing going on. And that's sad to think that there's no such thing as an original movie anymore. Not all movies are generic, especially when it comes to foreign markets. And While No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood, two of my hollywood made faves of recent memory, are taken from books, the stories and ideas they present are shown in original ways. But sometimes popcorn movie goers don't care for such films, just the way it is I guess.

Wild Wild West? Never heard of it :o

...:csad:

It's cool. The only thing that really bugs me about Will Smith is that the man CAN act. But I guess I can't blame him for taking an easy meal ticket every so often, and they're usually massive payoffs for him.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. I hear you on that. I wish that the best films of the year were the highest grossing, but hey, that's how it works. I just try to go out, and enjoy any movie. Going to see new movies is like an addiction to me.

I wish Indy would flop. That way they don't even consider a fifth without Harrison as the lead. That quote from Lucas just has me so pissed.

What did Lucas say?

"I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

Speed Racer is such an obvious flop that it probably had 'flop' written on the script.

'SPEED RACER'
a flop written by Larry and Andy Wachowski

I'm not bragging because a lot of people predicted this. It seemed obvious straight away, I can't see why Warner Bros greenlighted it.

I knew it was a flop right from seeing the teaser. I still anticipated seeing it, and was disappointed, but everything about it had flop written all over it. It was obvious.

'Dragonball', I can easily sense that this film will be a cheap, cash-grab for all the fans of the cartoon/anime series. I'm personally not one of the fans but that's what this film looks to be and that's all I can see from this film.

I think Dragonball (Why did they spell it as one word?) will flop, as well. Even though I'm a fan, I have no faith for it.

I really wished it was one of those films that you can look at and take it seriously, but right now, I just can't and I bet it will stay that way until it's release.

I am hoping that the teaser will blow me away. And when I say blow me away, I mean, it better be some of the most groundbreaking material I've ever seen in order to have faith in this.

They need Nathan Fillion not Shia.

I think they are trying to make Shia's character Indiana Jones' successor, not recasting Harrison Ford. Push come to shove, a successor is a better option than a recast.

Yeah, a smal combination of great footage can really change you're mind, after I saw the three 'The Incredible Hulk' TV spots, they completely changed my mind about the movie and now I can't wait for it. If the same comes from 'Dragonball', so be it, I'll be excited for it's release.

Yes, that's true.

What would you like more? Films about Indy or films about Mutt Williams?
