Sex and the City doesn't have the wide appeal that Prada has. Anybody can watch and enjoy Prada, but honestly, other than fans of the show, who wants to see the SatC movie?

Women. There's kind of a lot of them, you know. Mark my words: Sex and the City will be one of the biggest films of the year. It probably won't do big blockbuster numbers in it's first week, but it will have TREMENDOUS legs (pun sort of intended.)

sex and the city aint gonna bomb at all... it will be this year's devil wears prada big time

What surprising me is how badly some films are underperforming, Indy, Caspian, Speed Racer, the first two of which have received positive reviews overall and are family friendly yet at haven't been performing up to expectations at all

This even worries me more for the Incredible Hulk if anything... it seems most films will vastly underperform relative to predictions... what could be the reason for this? the relatively **** economy currently? People just not being interested in seeing movies??

I think the biggest reason most movie are underperforming according to the press is because they're being overpredicted, if a movie doesn't make at least $60-75 mil in it's opening weekend it's underperformed. That's crazy. Speed Racer bombed because the trailers weren't appealing to anyone. Caspien did fine, it's a movie that should've been released in the fall/winter though, that's a better time for fantasy movies. Plus I think the Narnia series is also too tame of a fantasy series, Harry Potter has gotten darker and benefitted from it, Narnia won't and I really think that'll hurt it. However, it's gonna do great oversees. Indy just opened, wait until the end of the weekend before saying it's underperformed, I think higher gas prices are gonna translate to a bigger opening weekend for Indy, people will take a five-ten minute drive to the theater rather than a trip this weekend. One of my friends was totally against seeing Indy, but last night was talking about it since it's gas is so high, he doesn't want to go out of town, but is fine going to the theater.

I only disagree with you on one thing, Narnias opening was disappointing.

I've heard that brought up before, but I can't see it. It's not like all women love Sex and the City outright. It has its core fans and all, but it hasn't gotten good advertising and I think it'll do about as well as X-Files 2, which has about the same thing going for it, hype-wise.

Dragonball, Street Fighter, The Spirit, Watchmen, The Love Guru and Meet Dave will all flop(I have respect for 'The Spirit' and 'Watchmen' but, like 'Sin City', they're all going to flop at the BO).

I think 'Wanted' is gonna flop . I bought this directors last two movies 'Day Watch and 'Night Watch' and i must say, i want my ****ing money back! :cmad:

I personally think it'll make around $125 million, maybe a little more. And, I agree with you, this film is gonna suck mega-balls, just the same as DragonballZ... I wish I could say that all BS movies will flop, but I can't. 'Wanted' is just one of the few.

i could see Speed Racer flopping a mile away. 2 miles away, actually! haha.

but the next big movie to flop will be Hell Boy 2. is that even considered a big movie?
no one's gonna see that **** except for the diehards.

Sadly, yes(for me at least). I liked the first one and saw it opening day, I came to thinking why there weren't so many people there. Anyhow, I certainly hope this one surpasses the first in both the box office and critical response, I personally feel both will be improved upon very much so.

I think Dragon Ball is going to make a hell of a lot of money, so it won't be a flop on a business note, but Since Fox is making it, i believe it will get horrible reviews and will be an overall crappy film...though i predict i will make over 300 million...that is if they make the trailers better looking than the film itself and brainwash people into seeing it.. :o

I completely, and utterly doubt that will ever happen. 'Dragonball' already looks like a steaming pile of goat S sprinkled with diharea-ass! The trailers will be ass, the film will be ass and the film is ass, end of story.

Dark knight. Has too much hype behind it. It'll do good at the BO. But will fail everyones expectations

I think Sex and the City should flop but it likely won't and The Happening be the up coming semi flops.

I said it before, I'll say it again, Hellboy 2 and X-Files 2 are practically indies this summer. They were made in mind to do little business. Hellboy will actually probably profit quite a bit this time around. The word is that this one is way better than the first too. And I for one know many people who are looking forward to it. Actually, that and Dark Knight are the last of the summer popcorn movies I'm looking forward to. :whatever:
