Predict the Worst Films of 2014

Godzilla and Robocop have alot working against them. Both have had such bad sequels that it seems quite hard to recapture the magic of the originals.

Captain America 2 looks like it has a good political action thriller thing going on, however like the rest of the Phase 2 movies it will most likely have that ruined by their insistance of shoehorning too much comedy in and at the wrong times.

I really do hope Cap 2 can avoid that fate but Marvels track record in this area speaks for itself. Winter Soldier may just turn out to be an imposter, just an "actor" played by Rob Scheinder.:cwink:

Hey, Guardians of the Galaxy comes out in 2014.

Hmmmm...
I think that one is gonna be good.

I don't like James Gunn and the Thor 2 post credits scene with Benicio Del Toro was so dumb it made me lose interest in Guardians of the Galaxy. I don't know whether it sucks or not but i don't think it's for me.

I, Frankenstein
300: Rise of an Empire (The first movie was good, but this one looks entirely unnecessary)
Jupiter Ascending
Pompeii
The Legend of Hercules
A Haunted House 2
Blended
Sex Tape
Step Up All In
The Expendables 3

I'll see you when the GOTG trailer comes out. :cwink:

I certainly hope GOTG will be good. But that footage at the end of Thor 2 was just... I don't know, weird. It might just have been because it felt so different from the rest of the movie, but it made me nervous about GOTG. Also, I really don't like the Nova Corps costumes from what I've seen of them. Still, if the GOTG trailer knocks my socks off, I'll be singing a different tune.

Even if the movie is good though, I still think it's a big risk for Marvel. I don't know if it's going to connect with people the way that the fans want it to. The last thing Marvel wants is a Green Lantern situation and I'm worried that GOTG could be that. I hope not though.

I will be stunned if I'm surprisingly disappointed in Godzilla, but I doubt I will because there has been so much good faith being built up so far that I don't think it'll suck.

Same here.

I posted the teaser on Facebook and a couple people I know said it looks just as bad as the last American film.........

It is almost impossible to get that from the teaser they released. I'm incredibly excited for the new Godzilla because I would like to own a second film in my movie collection. The only good one so far is the original Gojira. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy all the sequels and spinoffs but I wouldn't consider them good movies.

Bumping this thread since we're past the halfway point of 2014 and it's interesting to see how right we were. From my initial list, I have to say that I actually enjoyed Transformers 4, though I may be alone in that. Jack Ryan was better than I thought it would be, yet it still didn't quite work for me. Not terrible by any means though. 300: Rise of an Empire was awful, though. That was easily the worst movie I've seen in a theater this year. Haven't seen Dawn of the Planet of the Apes yet but from what I've heard, it's awesome, so I guess I was wrong on that one.

I liked AoE too. Despite the fact I was not a fan of the previous 2 movies

Yeah, I HATED ROTF and while DOTM was an improvement over that film, it was still terrible. But for whatever reason, I thoroughly enjoyed AoE. I think that the two previous films soured people's opinions on the franchise so much that they didn't give AoE a fair shot.

My worst films of 2014 so far are...

1. The Ganzfeld Haunting
2. Cross Bearer: The Hammer of God (though this was apparently a 2012 festival movie that just got released on DVD)
3. 666: Devilish Charm
4. Nurse 3D
5. Camp Dread

Probably Transformers 4 for me, or maybe need for speed.

Edit: after reviewing what movies came out earlier in the year, I'm changing mine to Transcendence. While Transformers and Need for Speed were beyond stupid, at least they knew about it. Transcendence labored under the delusion that it was the most brilliant f***ing thing since Socrates. Pretentious, sloppily made sh**.

It serves Wally Pfister right that Transcendence was such a failure after he trashed The Avengers.

Oh, I forgot...Psympatico is one of the worst movies of the year too.

Hey, I was right there with you with on GOTG. I was a bit cautious in the beginning. And Cap A blew me out of the water.

Yeah, Cap was great and GOTG was f***ing phenomenal. I think I'd say it was Marvel's best film yet, maybe even better than The Avengers and the first Iron Man. I've never been so happy to have been wrong about a movie in my life.

And regarding Transcendence... yeah, it was pretty bad. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be after all the bad reviews, but I still thought it was pretty much a waste of time. It dragged like hell and Johnny Depp's (literally) Skyped-in performance didn't help. It had an intriguing concept but it didn't know where to go with it. It dissolved into stupidity once the military guys showed up and just started shooting people and blowing **** up.

Robocop was the worst one I've seen this year. At least I had FUN with Transformers

Left Behind. Ridiculous premise + Sci-fi Channel TV movie vibe + Nicolas Cage + bunch of B actors who are B for a reason = Unintentional Hilarity

A Haunted House 2 by far.

Almost everyone's pick in this thread is f***in Citizen Kane compared to HH2.

Yeah, 300: ROAE was terrible. I still can't believe I paid almost $20 to see that piece of sh** in 3D (which only enhanced the awfulness of it). I didn't even want to see it, but I have this friend who is hell-bent on only seeing movies that feature female badasses (although 300: ROAE even managed to fail on this part by giving Eva Green little to do besides sit on a throne and look pissed).

Also, Noah was one of the worst movies I've seen this year. How did that sh** get good reviews? It deserved to be panned.
