Primetime Emmy Awards 2009

Jay Leno.

NBC supposedly taking the easy way out and instead of making a decent primetime show, they spend little cash and bring Leno back in with a re-hash of The Tonight Show.

Is it not working out for NBC? Isn't Leno's show getting better ratings than 30 Rock?

it just premiered this week...people will get bored of it...I don't see it lasting more than 2 or 3 seasons at best

the whole line was "thanks to NBC for keeping us on the air even though we cost much more money than a talk show" because NBCs whole marketing of Lenos show was having comedy at 10 pm

What Tina Fey said was a "zing" because NBC got a great deal of (valid, imo) criticism for going for the "easy out" with Leno. Instead of coming up with quality scripted programming and employing many talented creative people, they just put their go-to talk show host in a prime time hour. Because 5 hours of that one show cost the same as 1-hour of scripted programming. In other words, there are A LOT fewer jobs at NBC now thanks to Jay Leno's show.

Exactly.

Glad to see Michael Emerson won for Lost, he's awesome as Ben Linus.

The Jay Leno Show is a backup for me. If there's nothing to watch at 10 p.m., there's always that show.

If the ratings are there then I don't see NBC giving a damn.

They don't give a damn. That doesn't nullify the criticism, though. That would be like saying Michael Bay movies are above criticism just because they make money. Doesn't make 'em any classier. Just like the Leno ratings success doesn't make that move any classier.

Yes, but the people that are complaining care about quality, not quantity.

They used BSG score over the "Year in Drama" segment.

LOST lost to Mad Men. :csad:

I ****ing hate Mad Men.

Glad they noticed it enough to at least use it in their show, but I still can't believe Bear McCreary never got nominated for that. I mean, I love Giacchino, but I'd take BSG's score over Lost's anytime. BSG's music is actually better than most movie scores, imo.

I dont see any reason to choose between the two, since they're both better than half of the **** they nominate for music composition...

I have no idea who is getting paid what by who, but I am SO tired of Two and Half Men getting awards and recognition for complete and utter mediocrity. :cmad:

Other than that, I was very happy with the awards given. :yay:

disappointed aaron paul didn't win for best supporting actor in a drama or that breaking bad lost out to the very average mad men for best drama.

oh well, at least cranston won a much deserved second emmy.

genre shows like BSG still have to deal with the stigma of sci-fi/fantasy that some brilliant shows get saddled with and get ZERO recongnition

I don't think anyone could have predicted the winners tonight.

I didn't watch but I read the winners. One thing that really bothered me is Jon Cryer over Kevin Dillion. Really? The nominations this year were terrible as well. The failure to acknowledge the brilliance of the cast and crew of shows like Psych, Burn Notice, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Chuck is unforgivable when shows like Two and a Half Men House, and Monk (The latter two are so past their prime its not even funny while Two and a Half Men never had a prime) continue to receive nominations and even awards.

Monk is in its last season so they were throwing them their final bone
