Primetime Emmy Awards 2009

They'll have next year for that. Shaloub will win, no doubt for his final season.

I like Chuck but I don't think it deserves any emmy nomination. at least not yet. and...Mad Men deserved the award. has Lost already won? I think they have before.

I hope the Oscars people were watching, because Neil Patrick Harris would make a great Oscar host.

I could care less about Chuck...I find it derivative and borderline insulting

I would watch the Oscars coming up if NPH hosted, no doubt about it.

In regards to Chuck, I think Adam Baldwin definitely deserves a best supporting actor nomination as he is just top notch in it.

Beyond that, snubbing shows like Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Burn Notice, and Psych in their prime just shows how little credit the Emmys have

The problem with the Emmy's is that they nominate garbage that nobody watches on network TV so why not nominate garbage from cable TV that nobody watches?

And why is 2 And A Half Men still on, is that really a well written show?

Didn't there used to be an awards show for cable only programming I don't know why they have to be lumped into the network category?

CBS is the most watched network. The flyover states, meaning the rest of us, eat that channel up.

CBS has always had those shows that endure on their mediocrity...Raymond had that crown for a while...and now 2 and a half men does....it's not a horrid show, but its not that good either

Because 5 hours of that one show cost the same as 1-hour of scripted programming. In other words, there are A LOT fewer jobs at NBC now thanks to Jay Leno's show.
And we should all feel sorry for those actors/directors/writers that won't have a job unlike blue collar people getting laid off from schools, factories, hospitals.

not everyone that works in TV are well off....she's talking about PA's, lighting techs, all the nuts and bolts people that work for their money....my cousin is a lighting tech/grip for Universal/NBC and he's moonlighting for local TV just to keep some extra cash

Omg how shocking mad men won!!!! :whatever:

That show seriously has to be the most boring show I've ever watched, I really do not get the hype.

Here's some excitement and humour from last night's show.

As BlackLantern pointed out, the majority of them are the same as those blue collar workers, just trying to make a living. So no, I don't think we should "feel sorry" for one group over the other. It was just a sleazy move for the network to make, especially in such a crappy economic environment.

ETA: And Mad Men is awesome. I love Lost, but my vote still would've gone to Mad Men.

I didn't watch but I read the winners. One thing that really bothered me is Jon Cryer over Kevin Dillion. Really? The nominations this year were terrible as well. The failure to acknowledge the brilliance of the cast and crew of shows like Psych, Burn Notice, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Chuck is unforgivable when shows like Two and a Half Men House, and Monk (The latter two are so past their prime its not even funny while Two and a Half Men never had a prime) continue to receive nominations and even awards.

While I don't think Jon Cryer should've won, Kevin Dillon was really who you thought deserved the award? NPH should've won hands down, he totally elevates Mother to something much better than it would be without him. Kevin Dillon I feel actually drags Entourage down.

I watch Mad Men, but I really don't think it deserves the praise it gets, The Shield, Battlestar or Supernatural all had much better seasons, but of course weren't even nominated.

Which I find offensive. They got lucky with How I Met Your Mother, but all their other comedies are pure garbage. I thought (and by that, I mean hoped) laughtrack sitcoms were dead.... :csad:

Yeah but so has Mad Men. I think House should of won [BLACKOUT]or L O S T [/BLACKOUT]

Big Bang Theory is not crap. In fact, I like it better than How I Met Your Mother. Big Bang theory's season was just that much better, though when your two lead actresses are pregnant that does put you in a bind so I can't judge HIMYM's last season too much.

Hope the premieres for both shows are amazing tonight.

Okay, its not crap like Two and a Half Men, but I really dont think its all that funny either.

well as for The Shield, Chiklis did win his first season...he didn't even expect to win and IIRC wasn't even at the ceremony, he was at home with his wife and kids....I just got into HIMYM this year and its one of my favorite comedies...I can't stand Big Bang Theory for the same reasons I cant stand Chuck....I find them insulting

That's strange. I watch (and adore) Mad Men, but don't think it gets near enough praise. Haha.

Don't understand the hate that Two and a Half Men gets on the internet. It may not be the best comedy out there, but I still tend to tune in every week and it makes me laugh quite a bit. I wanted NPH to win because he easily was the most deserving in my mind, but it was nice to see Jon Cryer get some recognition.

I was so glad to see Michael Emerson win for LOST. Long overdue.

30 Rock won Best Comedy again. What a surprise. If you want to talk about underrated shows, any single episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is funnier than an entire season of "30 Rock".

Truth.
