The Dark Knight Prologue from Christopher Nolan

All I have to say is one thing.

If the film makers decide to dedicate the film to Heath, there needs to be another name below his on the dedicated to list.

And that is of the stunt driver that passed away while MAKING the movie.

It would be out of good taste to equate one person's life as more important than anothers. Idc what their role is.

Thats all I have to say about that.

Well said. Very well said. The thing I always ask myself in dealing with the death of anyone is what would THEY have wanted, and Heath was no 'diva' to quote someone else in another thread. Troubled, sure, but who isn't on some level? He was a man just as important as any other and should be remembered with equal consideration. God bless the both of them.

He would want the most modest and discreet memorial possible, methinks. Like the way he lived his life.

His WORK is its own memorial, in a lot of ways.

think thats what I said, no matter.

Anything put at the beginning of the film regarding the Heath's and/or the stuntman's death would just be distracting and create a feeling of melancholy throughout the whole film, thus preventing the audience from enjoying the movie. That's the last thing they want to do. Although I'll be very disappointed if I don't see a dedication at the end of the film.

Maybe a (short) documentary on the DVD release would also be nice. Just showing his career, behind the scenes footage from TDK and the praise he will probably get for his portrayal of the Joker.

just before the main credits roll, just put 'For Heath' that's all they need :)

Well, i would like to applause the first appareance of Ledger in the prologue (the shot of him waiting), or maybe when he says: [SIZE=-1]"I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger", but they maybe think that i´m crazy...

A classier statement would be 'For Heath,' before the movie starts.

Further information should be on the dvd, a la 'The Crow.'

Just an opinion.

"In Memory of Heath Ledger and [stunt persons name]" at the start of the end credits is what i think is needed.
More material on remembering Heath and his work should be on the DVD.

I agree, if they are going to add a tribute message, it should be at the end. A simple message like "In memory of Heath Ledger" or something would be great. It worked for The Crow, it'll work for TDK.

My opinion is that a prologue from Nolan wouldn't be that great for a theatrical release, it might *just* work for a special edition release in the future (Think the special DVD release of Gladiator, it has Ridley Scott giving a short message before you play the movie) but that said, it probably won't happen.

agreed.
Just a line at the end. After all theis is suppose to be entertainment. You don't want to depress people before the moive.

Christopher Nolan should give a short prologue to the film in which he himself calmly and kindly tells the audience to enjoy the show, and not to keep their minds on the subject of Ledger's passing, as this isnt what Ledger would want.

Something like Hitchcock.

At the very least there should be a written notice at th begining, ala Dogma. It'd be a nice touch.

'Cause that'll really get people's minds off it.

Sorry to be sarcastic. But don't you think that that'll just get everyone thinking about Heath's death right before the movie, even those who had forgotten/didn't know about it? Bad idea. A simple dedication at the end of the movie is enough.

Firstly to the OP, that's a terrible idea.

Secondly, they should at the most just have a simply line prior to the end credits. Don't put anything before the film starts, it's completely inappropriate to the escapist mood blockbusters aim to create.

just a title card that states "The following film is dedicated to the memory of Heath Ledger" or something to that effect.

"Dedicated to Heath Ledger" is enough.

To speak directly to the audience is just to kill the illusion. People should be allowed to feel the way they want about the film (or any film) or Ledger. And, in fact, they will, in spite of any kind of prologue anyway.

I don't want this to sound disrespectful, but does anyone feel a little sorry for that poor stunt driver who was killed... whose dedication is likely to be shafted in favour of Ledger's now? Or will they both get one.

SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE opened with a dedication to Geoffrey Unsworth, the film's cinematographer.

STAR TREK IV opened with a dedication to Gene Roddenberry(which caused thunderous applause in the theater when I saw it).

I think a dedication before the opening logos would be very classy.

Something small at the beginning or the end would be great, for both Heath and the stunt man.

No, nothing at the beginning, only the end if at all.

No, they should just let it go.
