I recently bought a PS3 Slim and have been trying to connect it wirelessly to my home network. I have all the right passwords, keys, addresses, yadda yadda; but each time i try to set up the connection, the PS3 times out, saying it can't access the IP address, and sometimes it just merely says that there was a "connection" error.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks!

You might want to try setting your security to WEP. For some reason if you have it set to WPA, it freaks out and doesn't like it for some reason. I would try that first, and if that doesn't work, then we can go from there.

Mine works fine on WPA

Do you have anything else wireless in the house? how stable it that? laptops ect....

i just bought a new router from linksys since the old one i dunno wore out and had to be burried in the back yard...

anyway ever since the new router my playstation gets crappy internet speeds... like 1.5 mbps down and 2.6 up. besides the oddity of having more up than down i used to get like 5 times the down on the old router...

anyone else have a problem like this or something similar or a suggestion besides get an xbox or play single player?

I had a simular problem.

Routers work on frequency channels, and so does everything else, so if 2 wireless transmitters have the same frequency (other wireless you neighbours have or a cordless phone) they can knock each other out, you need to change the frequency channel to something else default maybe channel 1 so i moved mine to channel 13 so nothing could mess with it.

to change it you will need to go into the boxes settings 192.168.xxx.xxx Or simular (where the WEP/WPA key is set) and change it there, google the make of your box for more information if you cant see where to change it
