PS3 Price Cut. Sony one ups MS yet again

Then forget what I was saying. I thought whatshisname was talking about the US since the price drop is only for Japan.

The 360 at launch, or the 360 now?
Since the PS3 doesn't come equipped with a time machine that allows it to launch alongside the 360, it's launch price in comparison to the PS3's is actually irrelevant, the only thing that matters is the current price. People should try to remember that most of the world isn't keeping a fanboy tally of things to bring up to win their internet arguments. As for the thread title....could it be any worse? PS3 price cut.....but only for Japan according to the Washington post, a more reliable source than "over eager games nerd on the internet", which brings the grand total of times Sony has one up'd MS so far to.....zero, which sort of invalidates the "again" portion of the title. This thread fails in 5 different ways.

Did someone whiz in your Cheerios this morning? Why so glum, chum?

Because the people on this board, this sub-forum in particuliar, are so incredibly dumb?

This thread is stupid. My thread is more manly plus people who post in it get laid all the time :o

I posted in Mentok's thread and was soon propositioned by several models

It's actually still more expensive than the 360.

The Playstation 3 has a blu-ray player and a bigger hard drive. The Xbox 360 has a normal DVD player and a 20GB hard drive. Of course it's going to be more expensive. Seriously, a $100 price drop was all that was really needed. I'm willing to spend $500 for the Playstation 3 (not $600)

NOT TO MENTION 'MS' HAS YET TO ANNOUNCE THEIR NEW PRICING FOR THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.....WHICH YOU CAN BET YOUR X-MAS BONUS WILL INCLUDE A PRICE DROP/RESTRUCTURE. WITH THE NEW ACCESSORIES, INCLUDING THE HD-DVD AND WEBCAM, YOU KNOW (REGARDLESS OF THE NUMEROUS DENIALS BY 'MS') THAT IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. I PREDICT SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

  • PRICE DROP FOR THE "CORE" TO $250.......OR PHASED OUT ALTOGETHER
  • IF CORE IS DROPPED, THE "PREMIUM" BECOMES THE NEW "CORE", WITH HDD STANDARD, AND THE $300 PRICETAG
  • THE NEW "PREMIUM" WILL COME IN POSSIBLY 2 FLAVORS, WITH DIFFERENT ACCESSORY BUNDLES. 1 WITH THE 20GB HDD, HEADSET, 'LIVE' SUBSCRIPTION, AND WEBCAM AND 1-2 GAMES FOR $500-$550 ; THE 2ND WITH 60GB HDD, AND HD-DVD ADD-ON, AND AN HD-DVD MOVIE, FOR $600-$650

if the price does drop in america (which i agree is doubtful, but still) then that's most, if not all of the complaints about the ps3 gone right there.

1- The lack of central service for the Online Network
2- Microtransactions, subscriptions and fees on almost everything that is called 'Content' on the Online service... Jesus there is even reports from TGS that SONY will be charging for game demos.
3- BR-DVD That I dont want.
4- No rumble function in the controlller.
5- They stuck with an outdated controller design.
6- Serious lack of games that look even half interesting.

7- Price is still to high even if the drop comes.

Nope... All my complaints about the PS3 are still there.

1 and 2 i can give you, but i don't play anything online, so that doesn't bother me, besides, the ps3's online service isn't out yet, so give it a chance.

3. you don't want blue ray, that's fine... but if they drop the price of the system, it hardly matters, since you're only paying $100 (what's that like, the price of 5 dvd's? 2 video games?) for a damn next gen dvd player. quit whining about it.

4. as far as i know, that's not confirmed, and i've heard rumors that they'll offer both versions of the controller. so, again, wait on it. plus, you don't need to pay extra to recharge your ps3 controller, it comes standard... that's a nice feature.

5. an outdated contoller design... that no one has had any complaints about.

6. as did the 360 upon launch. it had 2, maybe 3 games worth buying. it's getting tons of great games now, as will the ps3.

7. $500 for a next gen console and next gen dvd player is hardly 'to' high a price.

GT HD is ******ed, but how far is that really going to go? we don't know yet.

The lack of central servers isn't a problem, and it all comes down to how Sony manages their PNP system (no lame "lol I bet it will suck!" comments needed).

Ken said they were thinking about making demo units that were like arcade cabinets in that sense at select locations. Yet again, we'll see.

I'd rather have more avenues for control in my game then rumble, but it will be missed and it is a complaint imo.

Thier outdated controller design, by hands on reports, works much better then the PS2 pad, and a lot better then the PS2 pad for FPS games.

Serious lack of games, I'd disagree.

It's all personal opinion anyway.

En guarde, Mentok! :cmad: :p

I dont give a flying **** if its 'Only $100' I dont want the damn player... But thats too bad because sony says you have to have it.

Its confirmed... Why would they offer both versions?

I dont have to pay extra to charge my X360 controller either... Which brings up another problem with the PS3 controller. You are screwed if the Battery dies there is no replacement for that, you need to replace the whole unit.

5. an outdated contoller design... that no one has had any complaints about.

I cant believe you actually think that.

1- The analogue sticls are in the wrong place (well, one of them at least).
2- The stupid D-Pad design is now and has always been ******ed.
3- Tops of the sticks are poorly designed (size, grip/rubber surface and the convex shape)

6. as did the 360 upon launch. it had 2, maybe 3 games worth buying. it's getting tons of great games now, as will the ps3.

I said the PS3 has almost no games that I am interested in. I didnt say in the launch lineup. There is literally 2 games due for release in the next year and a half that have me even slightly interested.

7. $500 for a next gen console and next gen dvd player is hardly 'to' high a price.

Once again... I dont want a nex gen DVD player so that argument is pointless. The price (for what the ps3 is) is still too high.

The ******ed D-pad you speak of is the best out of any of the controllers, this gen and next!!11 The 360 D-Pad is a nightmare in comparison!!11 I can't really find a fault in the PS2/3 D-Pad, what problems with it do you have specifically?!!!1

Give it time... Its something that has been sitting just under the surface waiting to come and eat your children :cmad:

We will see... The best things I have heard about the new one are that the analogue sticks are more responsive and the L2 and R2 buttons are more like triggers. I like that.

Serious lack of games, I'd disagree.

They have plenty of games coming, just almost none that interest me (At the moment it stands at two... "MGS4" and "DMC4"... You could probably add the untitled NAUGHTY DOG game to that too, it seems interesting.)

It's all personal opinion anyway.

My opinion is FACT! :(

Boku no atama no ue ni usagi ga iru no

Ever tried playing Street Fighter with the PS2 D-Pad?

Yeah... I can do a Shoryuken with ease on the X360 D-Pad... Its near impossible to do it on the PS2 D-Pad so it wins by being slightly less crappy in that area.

They both suck though.

I can never hit the direction I mean to with the 360 pad since it feels like some bastard child analogue stick pretending to be a D-pad, it always veers off course of the intended direction with the act of pressing it down. :(

well whatev... according to everyone thats played with the ps3 controller, they liked it, so... i'll take their word over yours.
