I can’t choose between the two.

On one hand the PSP is really calling my name. I look at its games and instantly see stuff that pulls me in like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, GTA, Prince of Persia, Socom, God of War, Final Fantasy, Rainbow Six, Syphon Filter, Breath of Fire III, etc… It has wi-fi internet and the ability to play music and movies.

On the other hand the DS sparked an unexpected curiosity after doing a little research. The games look cute and all but only Metroid, Resident Evil, Castlevania, & Mario Cart really appeal to me. I plan on using the internet a lot with whichever system I’d get, and the fact that the DS has a touch screen keyboard is what really put it on my radar. But the downside is that its internet has no Flash or javascript, and from what I hear is much slower then PSP’s.

The thing that really throws me for a loop is how much hate there seems to be out there for the PSP and how much love there is for the DS. With the exception of not having a keyboard, the PSP really seems like my ideal choice. But I would like to know why it’s been getting so much hate; I don’t want to buy a system only to be stuck with a lemon.

The DS is apparently the better one to get. The PSP isn't supposed to be bad either, but it probably depends on what you're looking for.

Read some game reviews on what you're interested in for each platform and then decide on it from there.

well....nintedo made the ds to do the same things as the psp. i have both and atm play my ds more. but psp it coming out with some good games later on, liek ff... but the DS has ff3...i duno lol

Get a DS. Everything is cheaper for it.

Get a DS and Resident Evil, you'll love knifing your screen lol !

Sony killed Sega.
Only for that, they deserve all the hate in the world. ;)

well this is the Nintendo forum. You probably should have asked in the general gaming section

I would go with the DS just for the Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda games. It has the better game selection. The PSP on the other hand only has three games worth buying Mega man Powered Up, Mega Man X maverick hunter, and Street Fighter Alpha 3. The only other thing the PSP is good for is homebrew. Make sure you downgrade it if you have one.

what? lol

What makes you think that?
First of all, the DS was released before the PSP.
Secondly. they are two different systems that are for completely different ways of gaming.

Just because Nintendo decided to go and make a web browser for the DS doesn't mean they copied, people wanted it, and they got it. Shame is was balls.

I've used both portable consoles many times, but never purchased either of them. From my experience with them, I'd say that you should go for the DS.

The PSP was too clunky and big for me. Sure, the video quality was great, and the graphics aren't bad...but I preferred something which was all about gaming. Plus, I wouldn't fancy being seen in public with one.

With the DS, I had immense fun. I remember playing some Wario game on that, and I don't hesitate to try any new game out in the shops when it's on the DS. The touch screen is unique, and you aren't restricted to a few games due to the stylus pen. It's a small design, which I also prefer. All in all, I wouldn't mind considering getting a cheap one if I did have the money.

DS, for sure. Not only is there more variation in game selection, but it has so many more possibilities. I've never enjoyed using a touch screen, for gaming or otherwise, but the DS controls are far superior to the PSP's sliding pseudo-analog stick.

Sony didn't kill Sega.

Sega killed Sega. They brought it upon themselves with the complete lack of third party support. S**tty Sonic games. And the failures of two consoles in a row.

^^

Your backing of the PSP has pursuaded me to go get one...

... Thanks, a bunch.

i have both, but as for games, usually use the DS more, but i listen to music, store and show off my art, and watch movies on my psp
