Punisher 2 soundtrack

I hope they stay away from ALL metal or other bands in the movie. Nothing dates a movie quicker than featuring a song that has since gone out of style. I would love to see some traditional score here and there mixed with sythesized Bass stuff. Kind of like Requiem for a dream. That movie has a simple theme that stands out whenever you hear it, but the rest of the movie was just electronic atmosphere music that really compliments whats happening on screen.

I'm a fan of Slayer and all that good stuff (got every single Slayer cd), but I reckon sticking thrash metal over a scene where Frank is mowing down a gang of wise guys would just come off as being too forced and consequently hammy.

I want a Punisher movie that takes itself seriously and does not try and be all tough by having a metal soundtrack because it would just end up feeling tacky.

Punisher does not enjoy what he does.
It is not 'cool', and Punisher does not think it rocks.

I want Punisher:WZ to present Frank Castle against the cold sombre backdrop of a real city and dealing w/ real organized crime in the un considered and brutal way only he knows. Not Frank Castle wiping the crooks out in some spazzy MTV style metal video.

I think a score is way to go. No soundtrack please. It don’t have to be some orchestral snooze fest, it could be menacing up tempo electro stuff like The Terminator soundtrack. That was a great score.
great post. this also goes along with how Ray wants to play Frank

SCORE!!!

and maybe a few awesome ol skool rock songs. rage against the machine, alice in chains, stone temple pilots, something along those lines...

no metal. just because he's the punisher and it's dark material, doesn't mean it should be metal. i don't really wanna hear some fat dude screamin "RAHRAHRAHHH!!" in a punisher flick. yes, i'm well aware not all metal is like that... but most of it is.

Reasonable ideas

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
Iron Maiden - Journeyman
Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
Iron Maiden - For the Greater Good of God
The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black

And I doubt any of these songs will make any appearances in the film or soundtrack. I'm just naming songs that I would most likely use.

One of my favorite aspects of the last film was the score. It mixed a western sound with a gritty film noir feeling. I thought it captured (or contributed to) the over-all feeling of the movie.

Come on man!!!! this is the punisher movie!!
This is Not "spockets" with Mike myers from "SNL"

It should be metal at least 75%.
and I seen Some "Johnny cash" & the "WHO" they would be cool. for the other 25% like clasic rock and country with attitude.

I'm suprised know ones has said--------------------
The best song ever!!!!!!!!

Megedeath-punishment due!!
The true orignal song about the punisher!!!
also
Scorpions-rock you like a hurricane****
would be sweet in some see were he's blowing people away--left &right-- in the movie!!

PLEASE NO techno garbage!!!!!!!!!!

if you updated that song with

"DISTURBED" as the artist!
that would rock!!

Hmm...

I think Mogwai's 'Ratts of the Capital' would be a great song to use, possibly 'Hunted by a Freak' by the same band. Great instrumental pieces. Possibly some tracks by Montreal-based Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I wouldn't mind some Muse, maybe one track... if we're talking about a score, Jesper Kyd might do some cool work. His scores for Hitman, Kane & Lynch, and Assassin's Creed are fantastic. Or maybe Clint Mansell who scored Requiem for a Dream, Smokin' Aces, and The Fountain (I'm pretty sure he did these movies).

I got the first soundtrack (the rock album, not the score)..

anyway, who should be on the new soundtrack album? come up with 15 bands/songs..
If Drowning Pool hadn't already released a music soundtrack for The Punisher, I'd subjest using Drowning Pool - Enemy(amazing song, better than Step Up in my opinion).

Clint Mansell performing some kind of Punisher serenade would be quite interesting.

How about Banging on a Trash Can by Doug Funny and Skeeter Valentine.

See, what you're all forgetting is "Punishment" by Biohazard. It's on the Urban Discipline CD. The best part is, it has a clip of Dolph Lundgren as the Punisher at the beginning!

Remedy, by Seether. Great rock song. Click Click Boom, by Saliva. Some people think the song is old, but it's still cool. Maybe Survival of the Sickest, by Saliva too. I don't think these guys are considered Emo. Maybe Dirty Deeds by AC/DC, definitely not Emo.

Let me say too, I really loved the theme from the Punisher. As far as Marvel movies go, I place it right behind X2 and X3 as far as themes are concerned. So I'd like to see a theme, as well as rock music.

How about an actual score for once, Marvel?
Yeah, **** it. :o

Crowbar's cover of "Dream Weaver", I think it would cool to hear that as he's shooting a bunch of guys up in some **** hole bar.

I agree with you on that, I'd like this movie to have a timeless sort of appeal to it. For it to be a pure badass MAX Punisher movie, and not a spot to showcase specific bands. Even when its metal it feels trendy and forced, and years later it'll be tacky.

A score is definitely the way to go, it can have intense moments in it that reflect the tempo of the scene, or the tragedy of it, but a massacre shouldn't feel like a concert.

Save the metal and genre music for the CD, which as far as I know doesn't have to just feature music from the movie.

Thing is, if you riddle it with Evanescence or Metalica your bound to turn off some people, but a good score usually pleases all.

I'd love a score a great quality score by a passionate composer. It can juxtapose the art and style of each kill expressed with a terribly efficient rhythm.

And, I agree a good amount of Tool and Matallica can do much of that with a since of raw power at the same time. In short I want a clever open minded composer with a love for music only rivaled by his passion for film.

I agree that the movie first and foremost needs a score.

For certain certain sequences however, soundtrack may be in order, as long as it
1. Enhances the scene
2. Doesn't date the movie.

If I have to name any bands I want in there who I think might fit the above criteria:

Rammstein
NIN
L'ame Imortelle
