Putting the DETECTIVE back into Batman

WHAT IF... Ben Affleck ,with either assistance or not, wrote a Batman film like no other we have ever seen before?

What if it put the emphasis back on the detective facet of Batman lore?

What if the story focused on ,not a super villain, but a serial killer instead?

It could be one from his rogues gallery that fits the story best or even a new original character.

Audience would be saying :confused::confused: and some then WTF. They weren't ready for a Begins tale without supervillains (and thus big action) in '05 and still wouldn't be now. Most would think it was a lot less entertaining and it would do less well financially, at least be expected to do so, while still being expensive enough that Warner would rightfully think it was a bad idea.

Trying to make a movie a mystery when the villain is revealed in the marketing would seeem pointless while if he was not exploited in the marketing and not played by an actor of any standing would seem pretty underwhelming.

Well, I think the mystery and ,not revealing who it is , is part of the lure of the film.
Not knowing.
And I never said it would be an emphasis on just the detective aspect only, and actionless.
When he does confront the killer, I can definietly see a few big scale style fight scenes.

Batfleck would be my choice, i can't see a younger batman or should i say actor - i think Btfleck has 2/3 movies worth i want to see.

welp, this didnt aged well

I think definitely, no doubt, if written & directed right, this idea could be a success.
Think of Batman allowing us to see his analytical detective mind & put it on display (ala Columbo) , tracking a serial killer with a degree of horror (ala Silence of the Lambs & seven) catching and losing him a few times in street fights across Gotham roof tops & alleys (John Wick style) .

Could be a huge surprise hit and original.
Something Batman needs now.

starting Batman again for audiences
Another 'start' start for Batman is going to be harder than they (WB) think.
They should continue on new characters who never saw time for films but attract audiences (ala...Aquaman & Shazam)
If they must go to the well again on Batsy....having him go the detective route is new, fresh & different. Its something we have never explored before in a Batman film.
And if done right, the film doesnt have to be boring, with him analyzing clues etc. Just think of him hunting down a killer, like Starling did in Silence of the Lambs, only the climax has him going toe to toe in a fight to the death at the end, with a John Wick type fight scene.

I was refering to Batfleck - he was in essence a new batman for us to enjoy, but he was at his end so to speak, you don't really want to start a franchise with him having done everything.

Reeves idea i totally dig and look forward to.

Oh yes , I understand now. And you're right. Having Batman at the end of his so called career isnt the direction to go, I agree. Although , I don't want to see him training again in the Himalyas. Been there done that.

Well, I am glad they are going the detective route.
And this is a better pic to reference him as Bruce Wayne , no?

You gotta say, though, it's not like the previous movies overlooked the detective angle. But I'm all for a "murder mystery" kind of story.
