PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN
Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield Obvious. Only part i like Tobey's Parker more he was more "friendly good guy" Andrew looked like a jerk little bit. But generally Andrew Garfield by far.

GWEN STACY
Bryce Dallas Howard vs. Emma Stone Obvious. I even forgot other series had Gwen Stacy. Can't Blame Bryce Dallas Howard though.

DR. CONNORS
Dylan Baker vs. Rhys Ifans Not much contest. Other guy didn't have much role.

AUNT MAY
Rosemary Harris vs. Sally Field. I liked her traditional aunt role.

UNCLE BEN
Cliff Robertson vs. Martin Sheen. Both were good but Robertson had that rugged, tired from years of responsibility attitude. He seemed like he was expecting more from Peter but waiting him to be the man. Martin Sheen was very sweet hilarious oldman but not the "responsiblity" guy for me.

FLASH THOMPSON
Joe Manganiello vs. Chris Zylka Zylka was better bully and did other parts as well.I didn't even know Joe Manganiello was Flash. Isn't he the idiot wants to be Batman in next reboot?

Tobey Maguire / Andrew Garfield

Andrew was just brilliant. For me, he really got his teeth in to the role. Also, when it got emotional, you really felt for him. Everything just came off as more natural.

Cliff Robertson / Martin Sheen

I enjoyed both actors. Both really convey a warmth that you can't help but feel. However, I liked Sheens Ben more. This was down to how the character was written. Just the way he and Pete interacted and when he was arguing with Pete, trying to be the voice of reason due to being worried with the way he acts (I too have been on the receiving end of these) just really connected with me. So Sheens ben for the win (but both where great).

Rosemary Harris / Sally Field

This may be a bit controversial for some, but I liked Sally Field more. Yes, Rosemary looked more like the old school aunt may, but parts of her annoyed the hell out of me. One aspect where those bloody speeches she kept giving. Who talks like that? Never once have I got advice like that. Also, that bit when the goblin attacks her... terrible acting IMO 'Those horrible yellow eyes... oooohhhh'. I liked Sally just because she came across as a worried aunt who tried to talk to peter like a normal worried person would.

The others I think are unfair to bring in. Due to, in the Raimi films, not being used properly or just being thrown in as a wink to the fans and nothing more.

So it would always be:

Rhys Ifans
Emma Stone
Chris Zylka

That and:

"What can I tell you about Aunt May? Well... she's Peter's Aunt. And she's named May. She's married to Uncle Ben."

I must have missed it. Can you give a time code?

^lol. Man, she is... what's the word... bubbly lol.

Still preferred her though :)

I liked her as May, so I wasn't saying I didn't agree.

^ Never said you meant that lol

But man, she is a bit 'Huuuuuuuuuh' isn't she :)

And that's funny because they still kept him for 3 movies and he has a huge fanbase just because he played Spider-Man. Hell, some people feel as though he was the true Spider-Man.

:woot:

well they cant spot horrible acting when its right in front of their eyes then.sorry but Gomer "no acting talent" Tobey ALWAYS acts the same way he does in all his movies.:woot: the guy sounds like he is on drugs all the time, same flat monotone voice everytime.thats laughable that they would even think for a second he even comes close to being the true spidey.:woot: Garfiled is a hundred times better and at least CAN act.:woot: you really need to listen to that 2002 trailer of spiderman back then and hear him talk, thats how he sounded in the ENTIRE movie.he cant act worth a crap.Just like he does in that trailer,in all three of those films like in all his movies,he sounds like he is on drugs.:woot:

oh and for those people you allegedly say he was the true spider-man.they are very much in the minority.the proof is in the pudding right here on this thread.:woot: see for yourself.Looks to me like most agree with me by the poll Tobey just cant act.lol.

Yes, because a poll on this forum represents the world's opinion.

Andrew is a better Spider-Man/Peter Parker for me too, but it seems that Tobey wasn't supposed to be a contemporary version of the character like Andrew's (Andrew's version reminds me of USM more than anything). It's clear that people prefer Andrew's performance, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate Tobey's for what it was.

I wonder if there are any fangirls making tobey/andrew slash like they do for almost everything else.

*shudder*

Why did I even think that?

What a horrible, horrible thought. Andrew can do sooooo much better than flabby Tobey.

Yea, Pete (andrew)/flash slash is more likely.

..actually, I've already seen that on fanfiction.net, just one-sided (from Flash's perspective, lol).

i hate that too.. one day i was looking for a picture from Assassin´s Creed where Ezio is talking to Leonardo and i didn´t noticed the safe search was deactivated...........never again *crying in fetal position*

Don't worry -- the fangirls are actually more gaga over the Andrew-Emma romance than anything else :cwink:

PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN
Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield
Pretty even maybe?
For the roles each was given I will choose Garfield

GWEN STACY
Bryce Dallas Howard vs. Emma Stone
Emma's Gwen was written better

DR. CONNORS
Dylan Baker vs. Rhys Ifans
They're both pretty awesome, cast and role given to them

AUNT MAY
Rosemary Harris vs. Sally Field
For this one movie I cannot favor Sally, so Rosemary for me, she was better as May from what we were given by both teams

UNCLE BEN
Cliff Robertson vs. Martin Sheen
I will lean more toward Cliff, I feel he was a better Ben, even if the delivery of the most iconic Spider-Man line by him felt somewhat forced

FLASH THOMPSON
Joe Manganiello vs. Chris Zylka
In Zylka we were shown Flash, with Manganiello we were given a stereotype, even if he has a cameo in SM3 in Harry's funeral

It's hard for me to compare Dylan Baker and Rhys Ifans considering how different they are. There was never any reason to really care for Baker's Dr. Connors since he never transformed into the Lizard or had a real big role other than being Peter's teacher.

PETER PARKER/SPIDER-MAN
Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield

GWEN STACY
Bryce Dallas Howard vs. Emma Stone

DR. CONNORS
Dylan Baker vs. Rhys Ifans (this is unfair though because Ifans had more time to get it right)

AUNT MAY
Rosemary Harris vs. Sally Field (She suited the character although I liked Sally as Aunt May. They needed to give her something to do though)

UNCLE BEN
Cliff Robertson vs. Martin Sheen (At least he got to say the damn line!)

FLASH THOMPSON
Joe Manganiello vs. Chris Zylka

Overall the cast of ASM was better but the original Spidey had a better story.

I dislike Sally as Aunt May a lot, in the end when she hugged Peter she seemed like she was readig her lines from a paper. There was some good parts at first when she seemed like she was very worried about Peter, but she never really asked him again how he was so injured and they took the easy way by there not being consequences to Peter coming home all bloody

random question
Is the line "With great power comes great responsibility" even in the comics? I can't remember.

Well she figured out he is Spider-Man, that'd be why.

Considering how different these movies are, I think each cast was great for what each director was going for.

That being said, just looking at it from a character standpoint, movie contrasts and scripts aside, I prefer everyone from TASM over Raimi's movies. Garfield is better from a comedic standpoint, as well as the dramatic than MacGuire, Emma Stone is better at EVERYTHING than Kirsten Dunst (aside from letting her nipples show in the movie), Martin Sheen brings more passion and legitimacy to Ben Parker than Cliff Robertson, same goes for Sally Field vs Rosemary Harris, and Joe Manganiello was just useless and terrible IMO.

It's unfair to compare Dylan Baker to Rhys Ifans, because Baker didn't get to show his talents. He is actually a pretty good actor. However, if you want to compare the idea of Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn vs Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors, Dafoe wins because he's much more intimidating and startling as a villain. Though Ifans wasn't without his charm.
