Infinity War was the perfect payoff to the six long years of buildup Marvel has given to Thanos and the Infinity Stones. It was one of the few films where I was truly on the edge of my seat the whole ways through. The very first scene set the stakes and established Thanos' utter ruthlessness. From that point onward the pace never lets up, yet the transitions between various locations and groups of heroes were always smooth. Throughout the film, a feeling of dread was maintained. We knew awful things were going to happen and did they ever.

Before seeing the film I wondered whether the Russos would handle the cosmic scenes as well as James Gunn in the GOTG series, but I needn't have worried. The directors and writers juggled multiple locations on Earth and in space with ease. They also kept every character in the massive ensemble true to their personalities, which is no mean feat. Everyone spoke with their own voices if that makes sense. That was a relief for those of us who wanted our favorite heroes to be portrayed as they are in their own franchises.

The one thing I wished for after watching the film was more time for interactions between various heroes. There just wasn't time for long conversations even with a nearly 2-1/2 hour runtime. Perhaps the Russos filmed some scenes like that but had to cut them for time. We'll see when the BluRay is released.

Okay. I've only seen it once, but my first reaction is 10/10.

Its a triumph, a game changer and the MCU's Empire Strikes Back. This movie raises the bar, from Civil War, and is the greatest superhero team up film to date.

However I think people are underselling it because the de facto main character is the bad guy. I suppose we can say Thanos is the protagonist ( because the protagonist is the lead character).

What else can I say ? It has enormous ambition, fitting in such a huge cast - it never dragged, unlike Age of Ultron.

People were stunned at the end - and with good reason.

I could go on for ages about it - it's something special and I feel that it's not getting enough love from RT.

I guess people have gripes about certain fan favourites like Cap and Panther not getting a lot of screentime, but that's to be expected in a film of this magnitude - and both of those guys need to take a back seat and make way for other characters to shine.

Besides Cap will no doubt have a big role in the future.

I was very impressed at how seamlessly the Russos fit Thor, keeping the characterisation from Ragnarok, with the tone and banter of the Guardians of the Galaxy - it was perfect.

The Strange/Tony dynamic was also terrific - Cumberbatch really held his own with RDJ, and the clash of egos wax very entertaining.

I'm going see this again soon, and will amend my views if necessary.

I have to see it again to make a clear judgement. Right now I'm not sure that it surpassed The Avengers.

It will possibly increase with time depending on avengers 4. a lot of similarities to ESB.

That said, its not perfect.

I think this movie will be viewed better and better as time goes. I gave it a 9 the 1st time i saw it. I am giving in a 10 the second time. Not many directors could have pulled out what the russos did.

Definetly the empire strike back of MCU...... even the black dwarf (cull) had one of his hand culled

HOW CAN YOU LEAVE ME ON THAT?!? Seriously Marvel, you are cruel and you SUCK!!!!

But in all seriousness, this is what a movie event should be. This movie gets you from the very first moment it comes on, and it never lets up. Outside of Mad Max: Fury Road, I have never seen a movie just crank itself to 10 so quickly and stay there the whole movie!!!! I know I can never cover everybody in this review individually, so I am going to talk about the movie as a whole. It also helps that the movie cranked up to 10 is an amazing film.

Infinity War was designed to be the first part of something that would bring the MCU full circle, and the man who has been teased and we all have been waiting for since we first saw him in The Avengers was the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. For this film to work, Thanos had to be menacing and be a three-dimensional villain. I have never been as hard on the MCU "villain problem" as many people, but I do see what people mean: the villains tend to come secondary in MCU films, though recent history has changed that. Much to the credit of the Russos, Thanos I think not only is in the conversation for best MCU villain, I think he wins it. I don't think Thanos was as deep a character as Loki overall, but Thanos is a deep character with sympathetic motivations in his own right. But Loki was never a villain who struck fear into the audience, Thanos does. Every scene Thanos is in feels like something bad can happen to someone we love (and it often does in the film). Thanos is the complete package. He's smart, ruthless, powerfull, skilled,and interesting. This movie entirely hinges on him, and he delivers. Thanos has always been a top 3 favorite villain of mine, so this brings me joy. Bravo to Josh Brolin and the Russos for bringing the Mad Titan to life. Jim Starlin should be proud.

When it comes to the heroes, everyone gets a moment to shine in the movie. I am amazed at how evenly distributed the screen time is. The Russos said Thor had probably more than everyone else, but it felt more even to me than that. If they say it, it probably is true, but the fact I didn't feel it shows mission accomplished. Outside of Thanos, I do think Thor steals the show in regards to the heroes. His badassery in this knows no bounds. It's just a well done effort all around.

Now I want to get into a minor nitpick. Previously mentioned, Thor sort of steals the movie. Thor is also one of the few characters in the movie who gets to have some character moments outside of preparing for the next battle. This movie has many characters, but few arcs. It is very spectacle driven. In the end, I think that is what the movie needed to be given the gigantic cast it had, but I am hoping Avengers 4 goes a little in the opposite direction to even things out.

I also want to get into everyone's favorite topic: the deaths. First off, I am going to say I told you that none of the big 4 are going to die! This movie largely picked the right deaths. Gamora's death scene hurt and I felt that scene's emotional impact. Very well done. Same thing I think can be said for both Vision's and Loki's deaths (though they were predictable). But the half of the universe they decided to erase for the time being is where I think it was a master stroke. These two films are supposed to be handing off the franchise to the next generations of heroes, but at its heart, it should be a story about The Avengers. By erasing all the new characters for the time being, I think it allows Avengers 4 to put a greater focus on the original Avengers, making it easier to wrap up all their plot lines and give them a proper send-off/conclusion (whatever those end up being). Master class writing, IMO. I know it is old hat to say this, but Marvel really understands the story they're telling and they show me this at every turn.

All in all, I cannot say this is the MCU's best movie. While this movie is sold as being a complete film and Avengers 4 will be its own thing, I ultimately don't think that is true. This film leaves you on a major cliffhanger and longing for the next part. It makes the ending hurt, and that is wonderful. But on the other hand, it doesn't feel like the story is complete to me. The Avengers was a complete movie that set-up future ones. The ending to this I feel is more equal to Voldemort finding the Elder Wand rather than it being the ending of The Empire Strikes Back. I would currently place this film at number 2 in my MCU rankings (dethroning Captain America: Civil War), but I think once Avengers 4 is out and we see the complete story, I think it is possible the combined Infinity War/Avengers 4 story potentially could dethrone The Avengers. If Avengers 4 fumbles, no doubt it will leave a bitter taste on future rewatches of Infinity War. But, if Avengers 4 nails the next part of this story like Infinity War nails part 1, then I think Marvel Studios will have a saga that rivals the great epics like The Lord of the Rings.

Overall Rating - 5/5, Without hesitation! I don't know how I am going to wait another year for Avengers 4! I have long said Infinity War didn't quite rival The Avengers in hype for me, but if it is amazing then Avengers 4 could. Well...Avengers 4 right about now IS rivaling it!

This is a CBM site, so I am listing CBMs in my sig, LOL! For my rating system it goes as follow:

1 - Awful
2 - Very Bad
3 - Okay/Mediocre
4 - Very Good
5 - Great

If something is a 2.5, it usually means I am debating between a 2 or a 3 and have not decided. On my scale, it doesn't need to be Schindler's List to get a 5. I'm not one of those people who only saves a 5 score for a perfect film. That said, I think IW along with Avengers 4 could be like a LOTR of our generation as long as Avengers 4 delivers. If they hit a home run again, these 2 films will be regarded as classics. That is my opinion.

There was total stunned silence when the end credits started when I saw it. And not a single person moved during the credits till the after credit scene played.

While I did love, I'm still just a little bit dead right now.

Funny thing is Cap was the only one that really got a reaction from everyone, actual applause when he first showed up. But he did have one of the best entrances, really.

I loved Thor and Rocket. I was a little annoyed that Valkyrie wasn't in the movie. The Red Skull reveal was awesome. I always suspected the Tesseract sent him someplace and he'd be back. Really liked Black Widow & Okoye fighting together. I do wish there had been a little bit more interaction between the various heroes, but I guess they were a little busy. I knew Bucky was also going to join the fight, but I still felt bad for him because T'challa just showed up with the arm like he didn't have a choice and it reminded me of Bucky telling Steve in TWS "it always ends in a fight".

I have more but I'm still processing.

On a 1 - 10 scale 10 being the best. The movie was amazing, but the first time I watched it I was stunned by what happened.

9.5/10 - I thought it was the last movie of the cycle so the end hit me with all the power, hehe. A very entertaining film.

I thought it was a complete triumph when I first saw it, and seeing it again in the theater and a couple of times more at home has only cemented my feeling that the movie fired on all cylinders and accomplished all it should.

The story being presented with Thanos as the protagonist is perfect for what's going on, and since Thanos was executed perfectly on all fronts all that potential is fulfilled. The story is also very well structured to lead to the normal, desperate, last minute defeat of the villain, only to subvert that in a way that felt natural and actually not disappointing.

With the heroes there are a ton of them so we don't see a huge amount of screen time for each, but the film really builds well on what has happened previously in the MCU so we still get all the emotional attachment and a lot of payoff for what's been going on before. There are also lots of great new pairings of characters, both expected and unexpected, that bring out great dynamics.

This felt like a huge event film and I have never felt the kind of atmosphere in a theater as I did when the credits started rolling. You could really tell that people were chocked and in awe of what had just taken place.

I can't really give this anything other than 10/10.
