Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

No different than what the actual media does today.

It is, actually, because people in the mainstream media are usually smart enough to make sure their bases are covered and that they're legally in the clear before they publish something potentially damaging. This was a rookie error from just about everyone who let this happen.

Does Fisher not have an Attorney?

I mean, most of the time in this type of situation with these type of allegations, its the lawyer doing all the talking, keeping the cards close to the vest, and certainly not blabbing to the press.

I guess there's no lawsuit , so he doesn't really need an attorney, but if he's gonna be in the movie business, and he's gonna get into rumbles with corporations, execs, filmmakers, etc, he should probably get an attorney to do all the talking and fighting instead of basically acting as his own council.

Bad mistake if he doesn't. Even if you're not looking to start actual legal proceedings yourself, that doesn't mean someone else won't. Far better to have professional advice from the start, than to have to bring it in later where they (and you) may have to just settle for damage limitation because of something you've already said or done.

He didn’t post it. He watched it. Just like thousands of other people. Vaguely unprofessional, but not in the same ballpark.

Yeah, unprofessional to say the least, and dou**y, but not illegal if he only commented on it.

He's said in the past that he has one but I doubt it. No Lawyer or Attorney is going to advise you to keep talking to the press and tweeting about a legal matter.

Ray should read this because this is exactly what he's doing

Why Do Attorneys Say Don't Talk About Your Case? Law Offices of Andrew Myers

He’s admitted that he doesn’t have a publicist. I would be shocked if he doesn’t have a lawyer. I’m also shocked that WME hasn’t dropped him as a client.

If I was his agency, I'd have cut him loose by now.

I dont think that would look good for them.
Fisher fights against a problem in hollywood that gets more and more exposed, he is seen as the underdog fighting big hollywood.
And of course he has the syndercult behind him.

Dropping him would result in a lot of bad press, and not many want that.
On the other hand, they also get a lot of their money from hollywood...so keeping the guy who causes trouble, might not look good for them either.

I dont think he is dumb enough to not having a Attorny, but i also think that his Attorny clenches his teeth over the way Fisher goes on about all this.

He’s lucky that he was only fired. Accusing people of racism without proof opens you up to a major lawsuit.
Forbes published the original article without issue so they're just trying to cover their own tracks here. They've shown just how much of amateur operation they are.

I can't imagine any lawyer would tell a client "Yeah, go lob explicit (and so far unproven) accusations of serious wrongdoing at your target in an interview with a major publication."

As much as some people here kept ragging on Ray for being vague with his accusations until recently, that was probably preferable to whatever ****storm is coming now that Whedon has responded and refuted the racism claim.

It really isn't that mysterious. I doubt Ray is lying but an article being edited to remove an unverified, second-hand accusation of serious racism after a probable legal threat is hardly shocking. Fisher talks a big game about having receipts but clearly he doesn't in this particular case.

What is the benefit of him continuing to publicly blast his enemies if he's apparently getting the investigation he wanted now? Is it just to make sure their reputations are stained no matter what?

So instead of saying anything about his debunked claim in the article, he is trying to turn attention elsewhere by once again playing the corporate-cover-up-card. I think he's getting really desperate here.

Sheraz Farooqi confirming his contract has been cut. Gettin messier...

Sheraz really should have been more careful, it’s a lesson he’s had to learn the hard way but someone more experienced would have done some vetting. Sheraz’s issue is he didn’t come at it from a neutral POV either.

I honestly think his ego is huge

Where was Forbes' fact checking before they published the article? Really is odious that they can hang this guy out to dry while not being held to account for their own amateur hour conduct.

Should they be doing his job for him though? We have no idea how they operate. Fact is he F’d up and got removed as a result.

Most outlets worth their salt would have some sort of process in place before publishing for proof reading content for anything that could cause an issue.

You can't just write a piece and have it published without it going through someone.

Again we don’t know Forbes processes, but still Sheraz F’d up so it’s on him

I've seen it reported that Forbes does not require contributors to submit work for editing, but the articles are checked after posting and can be edited or taken down if they are viewed as low quality or problematic.

At Forbes, contributors post directly to the live site. Yeah, no editing, no quality check–just click “post” and it goes live. Editors do check the articles after they’re published and make minor edits. Sometimes if a writer goes off topic the post is taken down, even after it’s published and people have shared it around social media. That happened to me at least twice. I still think it’s the best way to go. Being able to publish immediately is one of the main reasons I wrote so much for Forbes rather than submitting my work to other outlets.

This whole process sounds incredibly stupid to me.
