Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

I don't know, maybe I just naturally see Fisher's point of view being a minority and his concerns but I can see what he is talking about. I don't get how he gets all the hate when he had a NDA in place while Gal Gadot and the entire cast of Buffy made similiar claims about him. His claims are very similar to theirs but for some reason he was easily dismissed from the jump despite having that NDA in place.

I’ve always believed the stuff about Whedon but Johns & Berg seems more to me like he’s just taking offence.

Throughout all of this I've believed that Whedon and co. Were d-bags but some things are blown out of proportion.

Boo-yah comment...its such a nothing to me. there was nothing weird about it.

Krypton not making El's diverse? Not a big thing to me but i do see Nadrias concerns w/Sm&L and think she was correct w/them making bigger black characters into the bad guys.

But WB and Hollywood in general need to ensure that cast and crew are treated decently.

Krypton had one of the most diverse casts in comic book TV show history. Just because one role they wanted a white actor doesn’t make it racist. Especially given who Kal El is and what he looks like. Nadria seems to just want to race change every character she can IMO.

"For their part, Warners sources contend that Fisher was being manipulated by Snyder, who hoped to reclaim control of the DC film universe."

LOL! I can't believe I missed that part! Of course they try to blame Zack! WB is so transparent! :funny::argh:

It doesn’t even make sense, let’s say his plan was to displace those that are there what’s to say new execs would immediately welcome Zack back into the fold? Jody’s Corner said the same and his reasoning was just as shoddy.

I COMPLETELY missed that part!! ZSJL is doing numbers for the HBO Max app, so much so that it's trending big time but yet some how the WB execs blames Zach............and people wonder why WB is blasted as one of the dumbest studios one can imagine. Their publicist must come from the monkey section of a zoo! The most mind numbingly dumb decisions I have ever seen!

Now I must admit, while reading it, aside from Joss, it seems like there is just a lot of miscommunications between the heads and the cast that just led to things seeming to be offensive. But then I read they tried to pin this on Snyder, and that pretty much tells me, nah, WB was just being a b****.

Another thing I thought was interesting is they refuse to have black ancestry in Superman's lineage, but now they want a black Superman? Seems like they're only using the race card to appease people or as a last resort and not really have a good story to tell.

This stood out to me the most.

The rebuttals from Geoff's people in that article were horrible, lol.

What did you expect him to say. We already knew about the "thin-veiled threat", the black actress' haircut on Krypton, the "Quasimodo" and the "angry black man" thing, or the supposed racial bias in cutting down the poc from the movie. If Geoff was ever going to say something, we always knew what it would be. He would shoot down any accusations of racial bias and bring up the studio mandated runtime and avoiding stereotypes, he would deny threatening Ray and claim to have told him to be less confrontational towards Whedon and not get a reputation of being "difficult" to work with in Hollywood, he would point to his past work in comics of making "traditional" properties more diverse, he would bring up his own Lebanese background and having been married to women of color and having a mixed-race kid as a reason for not being oblivious to the woes of underrepresented communities. We always knew exactly what he was going to say if he ever decided to defend himself publicly, so what else did you expect of him to say. What else was there for him to say.

This one really caught me off guard. Then again it says Warners "sources", so it's not like this was some official comment by WB. Still surprising to me because I thought after the SC there was no longer any bad blood between Snyder and WB and they simply were going their separate ways. "Manipulated"? Jeez.

One thing I'm grateful about this whole nightmare for the past year is the memes it has produced. Good stuff.

Who is that supposed to be and what does she report in that article that amounts to a career-ending offense.
Legendary entertainment reporter and the editor at large for the Hollywood Reporter. She took down Kevin Tsujihara slowly over the course of a few years. She’s gone after a ton of people and ended their careers.

And you think because of that Hamada and Johns will be fired? Especially Hamada, after all the public defending Warner Media has done for him? That would make them look worse than ever before if they did that.

In all honesty, I think this is one of the rare occasions where it would be better to make no comment at all than to make the comments he made, it would come off so much better for him. While I get your point, the 'I have a black friend' defense has been made fun of for probably well over a decade by now, so to literally use it to try and use his wife and kids as an argument is kind of crazy to me. And the part about trying to make sure they refer to him as Lebanese in the article just made me cringe.

Ah yes, when all else fails...try the pedophile angle.
It is getting super annoying with those baseless claims against Johns.

Either show proof or let it go.

If the guy is scum then expose him with facts etc, not constant accusations that have nothing behind it.
That doesnt change with this current "WB is so evil" angle everyone wants to go...i want more than accusations and excuses.

Well Whedon once again didn't say anything and I wouldn't say he comes off looking any better after the part about how he treated Gal. Johns finally responding isn't really surprising to me because I imagine anyone would reach their breaking point after being publicly called a racist every day for a year, while this article for the lack of a better phrase comes off as a "hit piece" partially accentuated on him. He "had" to say something this time, he(or his rep) should've probably just chosen their words more carefully, which is ironic because the worst responses he made were about a project that was entirely unrelated to what happened during the JL reshoots. It's no surprise that was the "excuse" that Ray chose to acknowledge. But otherwise, Johns clearly felt he was forced to say something this time, his "crisis team" could've just done a better job with it.
