I just got back from a long weekend in Los Angeles where my brother, a military technical advisor, was training Ray in the usage of various high-powered firearms for the upcoming Punisher Sequel. Even while being a HUGE (we're talking HUGGGEEE) fan of Ray in Rome as Titus Pullo, I wasn't going to let that cloud my judgement when assessing him as the new Frank Castle. And let me just say, after watching take after take of rehearsal action sequences (though they were only using air-soft weaponry at this point, the live stuff won't be until they start filming in Montreal), I'm prepared to say that Ray Stevenson IS Frank Castle. He's even bigger in person than on Rome, and looked as though he has more sinewy muscle to him. By no means is he any less impressive in stature, but he has a leaner, hungrier look to him that looks intense and world-weary. Plus, he has a fantastic personality. He was funny and engaging, and every bit the brawler in attitude that Titus Pullo will be remembered as. His accent is spot on as well (his American one, that is), and he even quipped a few one-liners from the film and I got chills!! I liked Tom Jane too in the first film, but Ray will just burst off of the screen. He's gritty, tough, and has a steely intelligence to him that I compare (as others have done) to Christian Bale's new interpretation of Batman.

That's good to hear. As long as he cares about the character and works hard I could care less who plays Frank. Jane was good, but that's over. If Lions Gate wanted Jane back they would've tried to contact him. I'll miss him, but dammit Ray is Frank now, and from reading this I couldn't be happier. Great post Spider-Man!

lol damn im angryi always was a steadfast supporter of jane and was one of the few who likes the punisher movie, and i was hoping stevenson and this movie wouldbe less than stellar for some odd reason but everything i heard is good so far im angry and happy at the same time

I have every confidence in Ray to pull off this role, its just the rest of the movie i worry about. I didnt think much of Green Street.

Ray's gonna rock as Castle. Long as he's working on the mental side, he wont need to overly train for the role. He just needs to be freaking nuts but very tactical. That's kinda verging on a complex character...

You must. Season 2 is fantastic. Where Season 1 had some great episodes and some OK ones, Season 2 just keeps on getting better and better.

Season 1 is great. Season 2 is phenomenal.

What happened to Niobe was really really shocking, that show gets better and better right up until the end. There's some stuff early on in season two that had me screaming.

^Watched Jane's Punisher for the first time in a while today, and Jane REALLY did rock in the role, RS has a big challenge on his hands to make us forget him IMO.
