Throughout Sam's life, he always wondered why his mom and dad were so easy on him. Whether it was sports, school, career choices, or picking on his little brother Keith, Sam always got away with everything. Because of it, he decided to drop out of college and take a dead beat job, wasting most of his time playing video games and wishing he could ask his co-worker Andi out. However, everything changes in Sam's life once he turns 21 and finds out the reason his parents let him get over was because they sold his soul to the devil before he was born.

Satan explains to Sam that he must serve as his bounty hunter, tracking down souls that have escaped from Hell. Initially, Sam refuses to accept his fate but he realizes the grave consequences of breaking a deal with the devil. He is armed with various vessels to collect the escapees. Sam finds that the work is dangerous and frightening even with the goof ball help of his friends and fellow slackers Sock and Ben, and Sock's former girlfriend, Josie. As bizarre as his life becomes, Sam feels good about his newfound "missions", removing evil souls from the world and sending them back to where they belong. Along with his friends and his vessel of the week, Sam prepares to face his destiny as the "reaper".

Probably won't get picked up. And it be PG-13 due to it being on the CW.

1. CW is looking for new hit shows with a broad demographic. They ARE probably going to pick it up, it's been in development for a while already- they just sent it into production for the Pilot. Getting Kevin Smith attached as director.

2. So? This isn't a movie. There is no PG-13. Supernatural is a GREAT and AWESOME supernatural show. And 'Reaper' would make for the perfect companion show.

If this does get picked up, I can see a Reaper/Supernatural crossover in the future.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH YYYYES!!!!! YYYYYYYYYYYES!!!!! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YESYYESYESYYESYEYSYESYEYSYEYSYEYSYEYSYEYSYEYSYEYSYES!!!!:woot: :woot: :woot:

....*little dance*:D

This is just awesome! God, I hope this gets picked up. I've been dreaming of this project and Kevin Smith attatched makes it even better.

As for the Supernatural crossover someone commented about, I honestly always hoped to see Ghost Rider on that show since he'd fit perfectly on that show. I always think of Dan and Johnny when I think of Sam and Dean. That would make an awesome crossover.

Oh pleeeease CW don't f**k this up. You're not FOX.

EDIT: Okay, I didn't even ****in' read the article before that reaction. All I saw was Ghost Rider and The Punisher in one show with Kevin Smith at the helm and I blew my top. :(...I guess it sounds pretty good.

Um.... didn't mean to get anyone confused... but, the guy is ALOT like a mix of Ghost Rider and Spawn type hero through a great director/ writer behind it (Kevin Smith)... so if all things go well, this could be "like" a dark super hero series along the same lines.

Just checked the plot outline on 'Brimstone' and that sounds alot more like Spawn. Whereas, 'Reaper' is going for a more Ghost Rider faustian deal type situation.

Sounds pretty badass, though I'm surprised the network would put on another supernatural-themed show when they have THE Supernatural. ;)

Promising indeed.

umm sorry but this has been done already in Dead Like Me, now repeating on Scifi Channel on Tues. nights.

Dead Like Me was a dark comedy. This seems to be an action drama.

And it's got KEVIN SMITH attached! In my opinion, the man's a genius! I love his comic books... he's a really good writer and director.

Hopefully when this does well, his self esteem will build back up and he'll write a super hero film. That would be AWESOME. His Supes script was AMAZING, in my opinion.

I havn't found any threads dedicated to this new show, So i'm assuming this is the first.

This new show, with the first episode being directed by none other than Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy/Dogm/Clerk/etc) is about Sam Oliver, a 21-year-old slacker (ideal for Smith) who learns that at birth his parents sold his soul to the devil and now has to pay the debt by becoming the Satan's bounty hunter.

Casting wise I havn't found anything apart from IMDB reporting that Bret Harrison (Grounded For Life, That 70's Show) is playing an unknown role (assuming at this moment it is the lead).

It sounds like a pretty decent show, sort of a light hearted Ghost Rider with a teen dramedy edge.

Any news that I hear I will post asap, likewise if anyone hears anything about the show, just post in this thread

Has anyone see the pilot for this yet. I watched it last night and wasn't what to think.

At some points it had that kind of clever, stupid vibe that Dogma has that made it quite witty and watchable, but at other points it just seemed really unaccomplished, and rather than witty it came across as incredibly tacky.

If that's the case for the entire series I can see myself not watching.

Note- might not exactly flow because it's a copy and past from two larger posts I made on the CW forums and on the Supernatural.tv forums.

I just watched the PILOT episode and it was GREAT!!!! I highly suggest everyone here gives a chance, especially if you love the supernatural and a comical take on the supernatural such as Ghost Busters.

It combines the supernatural realm with a comical and satirical realm. It's a show not meant to be taken that seriously. It pokes fun at the supernatural realm... the 'Dirt Devil' and 'Fire starter Fire Man' are examples of this.

The Pilot itself definitely shows alot of promise, Kevin Smith really brought a lot to the table and it seemed like a classic Kevin Smith comedy mixed with a classic Keven Smith comic book.

I personally related to Sam, alot, and he is the true underdog to root for. The characters also have a great chemistry that seems to click. And their Devil is great!

Relating to Sam is also key, there are very few shows on CW that could get a male viewership and in my opinion you need both to succeed in the long run. Two of CW's current successful shows has this: Smallville and Supernatural. These shows not only attain viewerships from the girls, but also us guys as well due to the content and the relatibility of the character. We can see a bit of ourselves in these heroes and for me personally, that's what always draws me in.

If you're looking for action, supernatural, comedy and a show that doesn't take itself so seriously... give 'Reaper' a shot, I can almost guarantee you'll have a hell of a time.

10/10

I have been hearing a ton of good stuff about this lately and the preview I was was really funny, but with that cool sci-fi edge. Plus anything with Kevin Smith involved is worth giving a chance in my eyes. i always thought brett harrison was funny on grounded for life and he looks to continue that streak with this one. really looking forward to this premiere.

This and Bionic Woman are really the only two new shows I'm really interested in this year. Reaper looks like it'll be a fun, buddy/sci-fi type comedy, which should be a nice change of pace from all the dark sci-fi shows out there.

I'm looking foreward to this, because its like the opposite side of the coin from Supernatural. This will be like Ghostbusters to Supernatural's Poltergeist.

good point, it looks to be fun, lighter fare -- with the cool supernatural plot elements going on, but with a not taking itself too seriously type of humor.

they have some cool widgets on the site's official page: http://cwtv.com/shows/reaper

i added a reaper countdown to my facebook profile.

it should be fun..i'm waiting for this

Having seen the PILOT that's what it is. This is Ghostbusters. :cwink::woot:

It also reminds me a bit of Mallrats, so Mallrats + Ghostbusters = Reaper.
