Reasons for the disappointing numbers-Discussion

Sure there was a point to Doom being in the film - he was the villain! Without him stealing the Surfer's powers, what would we have had for a third act? The FF free the Surfer and he flies up to confront Galactus, the end? That does not involve the FF much at all. With Doom in possession of the power cosmic, they are fighting the ticking clock, they have to defeat him and get the Surfer back to full strength before it's too late! I am not saying that they did a great job, but it did make sense to include that as part of the story.

In other words, you could have had any other masked creep to do this bit of idiotic and second rate baddy action.

No need for Doom. This is, as people put it right, DINO.

As Mercurious states Bubbadoom, ANY masked madman could have performed Doom's role in FF2, it was a poor role, simple as, and for me, he is the least interesting character in the movie.

You forgot the, I don't know, that FF had to be good in the first place to even make what TF did in it's first weekend.

FF: ROTSS was better than TRANSFORMERS. Sometimes garbage films make big money...and Transformers fits that bill.

FF: ROTSS was better than TRANSFORMERS. Sometimes garbage films make big money...and Transformers fits that bill.

Guess, what? The Rockets scored more than the Lakers last night and they won. So there.

Transformers, more people went to see it, and critics while the reviews were mixed, FF: ROTSS were much lower.

And my sports analogy was in regards to your "obvious" declaration. Stating one movie would make more than another if it just made more money is kinda obvious ain't it? Not to mention that FF really didn't have any of the appeal of TF.

And IMO, I've seen over a dozen films over this Summer. A lot of letdowns (Spider-Man 3, etc.) but FF was probably the worst movie I saw.

I wouldn't. I'd say: "guess what, folks: at least this time they didn't mess with Doom".

Doom got the worst villain adapt. from comics. He was THE villain there, and has become a derivative Bozo, mostly taking Osborn's superficial features of "mad/evil businessman".

Story has got a very prominent place at the Hall of Infamy.

Well, looks like our opinions are diametrically opposed and that's fine.

I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 immensely. I liked FF: ROTSS. For me, Transformers was the worst movie I saw during this summer.

I think the inclusion of Doom was a great conception . Also having Doom get surfer's board was an excellent idea. I just don't like this version of Doom and him wearing the mask seems pointless.

Wrong premise. FF being made into a comedy failed in the previous film why continue it again with the same exact cast and director? Story needs to be replaced and the franchise rebooted like Hulk.

The comics are meant to be serious with light humor, not primarily high comedy with the seriously toned down. If Story wants to direct a comedy Marvel property he can make a Squirrel Girl movie.

Be more faithful to the comics.

Spiderman, Hellboy, Batman Begins, X-men 1 and 2 all show respecting the comic source and giving them the proper quality work.

The was a rumor that Peyton Reed wanted to make FF into a retro movie which takes place in the 60's. That sounded cool. Another director who could do that idea well is Kerry Conrad, the guy who wrote and directed Sky Captain.

There is so much potential in this franchise. They could make several movies easy on each element of the mythos i.e. Skrulls, Galactus (the real one), Doom
(who isn't a Green Goblin clone), the Inhumans, the Negative Zone, Black Panther, Mole Man with Monster Island, Namor etc. Only we need a cast and crew who would do it justice, not turn it into a joke like Story has.

Does anyone know if the DVD out did or was equally that same in sales as the first movie?

I believe it did, at least in the first few weeks, the same as the first.....which was totally a surprise for me, but it did very well.

No talk on FF3, except from Alba, mentioning that it would be after the strike is over (which its over) before we heard anything.........and I'm sure we will hear something about it in Marvel or Fox's next press release on movies.
