Reasons for the disappointing numbers-Discussion

Me either. I point out a correction in this guys post, and am automatically labeled "Marvel Boy". :whatever:

Meanwhile; im willing to bet i was a Batman fan before he was even born, lol.

I'm still a Batman fan, and Superman fan. :woot:

"Begins"???

Maybe they followed the Spidey and X-Men type plan of hiring quality actors and directors, since that was done years before Batman Begins was even a gleam in Chris Nolan's eye. Ya think? :yay:
Thankyou:up: Rather people like it or not Dafoe, Maguire and yes even Dunst (rather you love or hate her) got plenty of acclaim before the Spider-Man movies, they were seen as quality actors from most critics and movie people.

Noy to mention McKellan and Stewart over in X-Men. :xmen:

hmm i thought the reason it dissapointed was because it nothing like the trailers suggested. the trailers made it look like a serious, big action packed movie, with the surfer doing alot more than he did.

edit

ha i just remembered when doom blew that guy up when he stole the board lol

Man, I call somebody "Marvel Boy" as a joke, then agree with him that Spidey and X-Men got the casting right first, then I supposedly got owned by King Bias himself, Carpy? Give me a break people..........

And Carpy, I'll take two quality films from two properties over 6 disappointing films from 6 properties all day long.......

I think this messageboard is kinda biased when it comes to comic book movies. One only needs to see the last 5 Marvel movies, that personally I feel weren't as good as they could have been, but graded here by posters as 9s or 10s.

However, biasness aside, you can see the concensus for most movies. Spider-Man 1, 2, Blade 1, 2, X-Men, X-2, Batman Begins for the most part are agreed not only by fans but as critics as well as being good to excellent by the posters here.

But then movies such as X-3, FF 1 & 2, Ghostrider and Blade Trinity get subpar critical reviews, yet some people on here are like pfft, whatever, I don't listen to critics. However, it's evident that a lot of posters thought these movies were bad.

If FF2, was just better and not just in comparison to the first one but just good, movie goers would go out and see it.

All the ass-slapping thing here for other reasons doesn't change what Erzengel said, does it? His point is still true, and it's his will, mine and I suppose of everyone here to get better superhero movies (be it from Marvel or DC). :hyper:

If Marvel had FF1 and 2, DC had the last two Batman movies of the old series; if DC had CINO, Marvel had Elektra. :woot:

But Erzengel consensus is right. If people try to escape from quality pretending this sillly "who cares" attitude, it is quite lame from them, isn't it? :whatever:

Carpys up to his old tricks eh?

^That is still dissapointing, especially when compaired to Spider-Man.

I will make a serious comment.I sort of think there wont be a sequel, especially with the fact that the FF films never break more than 200,there is no 300.

Its a shame the FF series is not as taken seriously as Spider-Man.What is odd,is that this movie was advertised nearly as well as Spider-Man..yet the film fell flat.
I don't think rotss was advertised NEARLY as well as Spider-Man. I didn't see ONE Billboard here for the movie, not to mention NOTHING on TV and I live in a well populated area, we have 48 Movie screen in my area aloan.

But then Ghost Rider was in one of the theaters up untill last month!

Well obviously the reason its done badly is because the first one wasnt great and no one really wanted a sequel. When that came out, it was just as bad and that sealed the deal.

I can agree with most of what you say, except myself, most reviews here, as well as a good majority of the reviewers said that it was an improvement. I think the problem there......there wasn't enough of an improvement.... to get people back for a 2nd and 3rd viewing.

1 and 2 felt pretty much the same even with Silver Surfer's inclusion. Marvel maybe making its dough but it hasnt had a decent flick since '04.

You're not alone with that opinion, there are a few around here....that believe the same....

Spider-Man 2 represents the peak of Marvel's movies, and even with Spider-Man 3, the last Marvel movies have lacked any kind of heart or passion. What is it now? 5 movies that have been subpar? Here's hoping to the Hulk and Iron Man to get it back on track.

I finally got around to seeing Spiderman 3, and I saw and felt 2 things....

1. They tried to do WAY TOO MUCH in one movie....
2. Little passion in the acting....

The action was good, I enjoyed that alot, but WAY TOO MUCH was put into this movie. I have to agree with many who said that it should have been 2 movies.

Iron Man, and Hulk have 1 MAJOR THING going for them. Neither are with Fox.

You can't make poor film after poor film, bad sequel, after bad sequel and actually expect everyone to continue to watch them all.

It brings warm feelings to my heart to know that Rise of the Surfer hasn't made more than a great film like The Departed. There is still some integrity in this world.

That's interesting, from what i can tell. Both movies made basically the same amount,so i can imagine after the first film..even though a second was not really wanted. They went ahead with it,hoping that it would change..and chopped the "Comming Of Galactus" storyline to pieces..and put the focus on the Silver Surfer. But fans were not fooled twice.

Finally I see some real good sense about FF in these threads! :woot:

Seeing Hulk ended one of more disappointing Marvel films, i can't put
them in good graces just yet. There has always been great promises
without bringing great deliverance.
i'll wait first to see what the 2nd Hulk turns out to be ......the real deal or dud ! :ninja:

Aside from the way VENOM was mishandled throughout the movie,
i didn't have a problem with Spiderman 3 at all. ...

the Action keep me well - entertained and i still thought it
maintained it's uniqueness ( something Story and FF has simply failed to do in two straight films)

i thought it was a major upgrade over Spidey 2 which just killed me with the way it draaaaaaaaaaaaged the Mary Jane/Peter relationship throughout the entire film. i would have strongly preferred a more balanced blend of action/romance in much the way the very first Spiderman was done ( Excellent blend !)

We are going to have to agree to disagree on the Spidey films. I thought the second film was the best of the three.....but thats my opinion.
