You guys actually think that Marvel is just going to reboot all these franchises as soon as they get them back just like the Hulk? Its a pretty silly wish if you ask me.... Marvel is under contract to release only two films a year for the next ten years almost... check with Advanced Dark but its something like that... I doubt they are just going to make another FF movie along with an X-Men/Daredevil/whoever reboot just for the sake of rebooting... they have tons of other propery to explore before revisiting those other franchises... they only rebooted the Hulk because he was an Avengers character... if Fox ditches the sequel we won't be seeing FF for another ten to fifteen years.

Agreed! For the film to be good they should put a little bit more money to the film. FF2 was had a bigger budget than the first film, that's why to most people it was better. If they had a bigger budget for the third film then FF would probably be a great film and have better reviews. But I doubt they will reboot this series without showing the viewers that it can be better. The third film should be better than the second, as the second was better than the first.

I didn't mean that, I realize that they'll be tied up with Avengers till 2011, and after that I assume they be in the process of making sequels to Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, then another Avengers, and since people feel a franchise needs at least a trilogy, another Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and a final Avengers....

Actually, I don't even see how they can do this...

This trilogy thing is overrated.

It works when the first one worked, and the second one provides the momentum.

FF momentum is just downhill effect.

The cast was a blatant mistake, apart from Chiklis. Disgraceful director, awful cinematography, the writer seems to be in his teens, etc.

Damn it! Reboot!

The ball is in Fox's court. Fox made remarkable money on BOTH films. Since FF2 made less money then the original, they have decided to go with a Silver Surfer spin-off. Like with X-Men, Fox won't let the rights lapse unless something more profitable comes along. Marvel cut them to good of a deal. An SS spin-off would be cheaper, fresher to promote and would extend the FF rights. If it makes money, you'll probably see FF3 at that point. If Fox doesn't generate any profitable franchises on their own, they stay with a winning formula. Flops like "Jumper" means Fox's sweetheart deal with Marvel will keep X-Men and FF in their hands for many more years. Deal with it.

Is that so? Fox bought the FF and Surfer rights separately though, so if they carry on one, the other would revert back. It's an interesting question though, SS is easily the most popular spin-off of all time.

Do you have a source stating they were bought separately??? Because I haven't read that anywhere....

I can not sight a source, but I had always heard that Fox had owned the rights to Surfer for years, even before Coreman made his FF movie in the '90's!

Bernd Eichinger of Constantin Film purchased the rights to the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer from in 1986, with 20th Century Fox as the distributor. It was a twin deal, according to David Hughes's 'The Greatest Sci-Fi Movies Never Made'.

Yes Marvel rebooted the Hulk cuz they want him in the Avengers but if they did a continuation reboot of the first movie, I don't see how the Fantastic Four can't do that as well. We don't have to go over their origins, every knows who they are and we just get on to the next World saving story. I agree 90 minutes was terribly short! Come on, the FF have great stories to tell. I hope the Silver Surfer does great but I don't know how that will bring the FF back, they did a story with him and the FF together.

See, Fantastic Four is too big to totally disappear.

My crystal ball tells me Marvel will soon get the rights back and we all will watch the real thing, finally, a couple of years ahead.

In the meantime, there are lots of stuff coming out: Iron Man (this is gonna rock), Dark Knight, a possibly interesting Snyder take at the Watchmen (fingers crossed), etc.

AND Thor is coming, even rumours of an Avengers flick.

I hope Marvel will get the rights back and reboot FF. Even if it means we won't get to see FF3 for another 5-10 years, as long they do it justice (ie no Doom as a business man who was involved in a love triangle and has no power armor or intelligence), I won't mind one bit.
