I still say no untill we know where they want to go with superman. If they want to keep the cameo in like others have said and i said here or gl threads i forget which just have his empty desk.

If the Superman franchise is still MIA then I doubt it. If Wb actually has a plan and, most importantly, an actor for the next film before filming wraps on GL (and they are serious about tying the universe together for a jl film), then it makes sense to me. They'd have to move quickly on the project for that to happen, and right now I don't see it happening with-in that time frame.

He won't unless WB know exactly who is going to be playing Superman in their next film.

I think it's an opprotunity that WB would be stupid not to exploit in their current position. As someone said , it would be no problem to film it at such an angle that all you see is a chair level view of a guy sitting at his desk, typing. Someone off screen says "Kent, Chief needs you!" or something along those lines. The guy gets up and walks off, the camera turns slightly to the left and we see the name plate on the desk says "Clark Kent". Cut back to outside, where the ring is hovering, as if scanning to see if he'd be a good candidate. It decides he's already got plenty of his own brand of superpowered butt-kickery, so it flies off, continuing the search.

You wouldn't have to see his face, you wouldn't have to hear him, you'd just know exactly who it was and why he was passed over. And while it won't neccessarily bring in more viewers, everyone who does see it will squeal just as much as they did when the reporter said Superman was seen in Gotham in Superman Returns. And with the WB on theverge over getting taken to court if they don't get another Supes film going soon, and worried if Superman still interests people, not only is this a good way to gauge whether people are still excited by him and Returns just got it wrong (duh), but it will get people buzzing about him again. I garauntee people will come out of the theatre not only happily suprised that he was in it for that short time, but half of the crowd will be expecting a superman movie next in line, and then think think that the ground is being laid for a Justice League movie just like Marvel is doing with Avengers. It's a win win situation. If people don't bite at that little tease, then they know they really have a situation on their hands. But if they do (which, why wouldn't they), they know all hope is not lost.

It just puts WB in a situation of having to have a script to move on with Superman. But with Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison on board the film division now (2 men responsible for arguably the best Superman stories in a LONG time with the work Johns has been doing with Gary Frank in Superman and the Legion and Superman Brainiac and their upcoming Superman origin, and then Grant Morrison with All Star Superman), I'm positive that they can make something happen. At least I hope...

I don't care. I don't mind the little "cameo" for him that the GREEN LANTERN script had, but its hardly neccessary.

Marvel's approach to building their universe being "brilliant" is laying it on a little thick.

Perhaps......how would you qualify it?

That would be awesome beyond words...

I totally agree with this. It would be nice to have a little nod like you described, and not showing his face, cuz that would make things difficult for them if they decide to use Brandon's face and then not have him in the next Superman/JL movie.

Ill admit after watching Superman Returns again Brandon Rouths Clark was good and he was different then Reeves Clark, he was a toned down quiet version but i dont like how everyone else treated him. It was good seeing him go to the bar with Jimmy but Lois pretty much treated him as if he was a knowbody. That is probably down to a poorly written Lois rather then Clark though and maybe it's her who needs more work in the next movie.....

It takes a real man/woman to say this. :yay:

Please tell me, what didn't you like about Lois's characterization in SR?

That would be a good way to go about it. I know i said it before, others too it would be a good way for things to go if they havent settled the whole superman problem.

I disagree. If WB does hope to one day make a JL film why are we so against DC heroes cameoing in other DC heroes' films??? We all LOVED it when Tony Stark showed up at the end of Incredible Hulk and I bet people would love it if Thor showed up in Iron Man 2.... but it seems like just about every poster was against Clark Kent/Superman showing up in a GL film... why? I'm not.

Superman could show up in GL, then maybe GL could show up in the Flash film, and in Wonder Woman (whenever that happens!) could have cameos...

we gotta build up to a JL film somehow...

I personally hated the guts of it.

And I hope the don't bring Superman so down that he has to appear in one scene of another superhero movie.

His own movie or nothing.

from reading this thread, it seems like only man of tommorow and the guard have the right idea concerning clark

Everyone else is too obsessed with post crisis...which is ironic, because these same people will bash singer for being obsessed with one version of supes....

First off, I'd love to see some elements from the Golden Age Superman in the next film. A little Modern Age/Golden Age fusion, skipping over the Silver Age.

And the reason so many are obsessed with post crisis Superman is because we have never seen it done well on the big screen. It's bs. Why redo the whole Kryptonian Jesus disguised as a stumbling, bumbling doofus when there is another awesome version of the character out there that has yet to be truly tapped into, a version that alot of fans want to see?

I want him to be cool and Big brotherly around Jimmy. A foil to Lois he uses his sarcastic wit while she plays of him. he should be background but just trying to not to get to notice. He should be a great reporter and goes to Perry to tell his mind on a story but when he gets to heroic he falls or something. He wants to be himself but not to be to notice. Also let him have sex with somebody or something he pines over Lois every movie let him some other her. Like Cat Grant.

I would love this for a way to have the ring searching for it's next owner, towards the beginging of the movie. But I think they should take it a step more. Follow Marvel's lead and at the end of the movie after the credits, have Hal flying through space above the earth and you see a red and blue blur coming from behind him. the blur passes him and stops in front of him. Hal is stuned to see Superman. The Man of Steel smiles and says it is nice to know I am not the only hero on this world now. Maybe one day there will be more of us. Keep up the good work. And Superman flys off, leaving Hall to smile and fly towards the camera as they fade to black.

Agreed that was a meh moment. Nothing to get excited about especially when you knew their was gonna be an Avengers movie anyways.

I just checked on wikipedia about the GL movie and they said Clark Kent will have a cameo. So he will be in the film.

The last i read is that they're still mulling which DC cameos/easter eggs they would be keeping.

I thought much more people would be excited for the idea of Clark Kent's appearance in Green Lantern. Personally i think as long as they can find a good way of incooperating cameos without taking too much away from the story then yes i'm all for cross-pollination of DC's movies.

It's a tough call though for the GL filmmakers to make with the Superman franchise being in such an uncertain state. I'd understand if they decided not to shoot the scene at all to spare the headache.

Clark CAN'T be played as the dimwit he's been presented as in these earlier films. He needs to be a bit of George Reeves, a bit Dean Cain, and a healthy amount of the Clark in S:TAS.

No more nerdy Clark, no more naive Superman.

Unless you're calling for the Hype community to make a prediction, shouldn't this thread be titled 'SHOULD Superman appear in Green Lantern?' ?

And I say he should only appear briefly if at all and I don't really care if Routh plays him or if they get someone else for that cameo. I think a mention or a pic in a newspaper/news show would be enough to cement that Hal, Clark, and Bruce live in the same universe.

Read my posts again. What the hell about them makes you think I'm obsessed with post-crisis? I specifically said that I didn't think Byrnes approach would work.

Because Wikipedia is right 100% of the time? I'll point out at one stage before the Kryptin (the tin box set with 13 or 14 DVD discs i.e. "Ultimate Superman Collection") Wikipedia said "The Science of Superman" was going to be on one of them. It wasn't.
