Reboot: Character Portrayal

You know what i want to see? The Smallville scenes done right for once. Forget that bastardization that is the Tv series. I want to see how a life in a small city affected Clark's views on the world. I want to see him interacting with Lana and Pete Ross like in Superman for all seasons.

No more some holographic parent brainwashing Clark kent into being Jesus Christ. I want to see Clark chosing to be a hero because he sees the destruction of the Tornado in Smallville and sees he could've done more to protect the people.

That is a defining moment in Superman's life.

Question: Can Superman get exhausted or run out of endurance?

I read this comic, when he had the common cold and he was really tired .

But does he get tired on a regular basis? Could he collapse from exhaustion?

His abilities are powered by the yellow sun...so I guess its plausable that if he were to be out of contact of the sun for enough time, he could get tired and/or weak.

The sun "recharges his battery" so to speak.

"Smallville" started that way, but after a few seasons it lost it's way.

Yes. That's how he was killed by Doomsday. He just exhausted himself battling the monster, and his solar cells weren't able to charge themselves fast enough.

That issue where Superman gets killed is so painful to read now. It's just so corny.

Smallville started with meteor freaks. I don't consider that remotely close to Superman for all seasons at all.

I think a 3rd choice should be a combination of both because there really are 2 Clark Kents, the confident Kent when he is with his loved ones who know who he is i.e. the kents, then the bumbling guy he is when in public to cover his identity.

well i dont want to see bumbling/clutzy clark any more. That take is old and we should see him in a different way. I want to see him be a regular guy while that is still different enough from his superman self.

what was cage's idea?

I read somewhere a long time ago that Cage had the idea of playing Clark Kent with "Southern" accent while Superman would talk with a "regular" American accent. He wanted to contrast Clark and Supes in a way no other actor had done before.

I think its about time we move away from the nerdy shy Clark its really dull now.

thats for the answer, that would be an interesting way to switch up the characters. And looking at it clark should have that southern/western accent anyway since lived his live out west. I agree union jack we dont need to see nerdy/shy/clumbsy clark any more. He should just be a regular guy a bit naive of the big city life but not stupid or a fool.

Louis Lane should be already married to Clark when the movie starts. No more secret love - she should know who he is and what he does and help him do it, I am tired of that old drama. The idea that Louis, a very smart woman, can’t figure it out has always bothered me, especially in the live-action superman films.

Well if its written right the whole clark kent/superman and lois cant figure it out could be done and not make her look like a fool.

In the original films, Lois did figure it out on her own. She had a hunch at the end of STM that Superman was really Clark Kent and in the sequel she was convinced it was true and attempts to expose his secret.

True, but it was still cheesy. I think it would be intressing to have them married rather then have then old drama. I am rather sick of it.

Here's my version of Zod

Zod
Once a rebellious youth who lacked direction and self worth until he was taken under the wing of Jor El. Jor El guided the youth and served as the father figuare Zod never had. He taught him discipline and respect. After Zod joined the Kryptonian military he rose the the rank of general and gained the respect of not only his soilders but of all of Krypton as well. Soon however, like Macbeth, he become obssessed with power and believed that the Elder's of Krypton were leading the planet down a path that would destroy the Kryptonian culture. He considers himself a patroit and defender of his culture and the people of Krypton along with the Superiority of the Kryptonian race. He plotted an coupe to which he'd hope to have an ally in his mentor and friend Jor El . After his plot is foiled and discovered by Jor El he has no choice but to inform the elders. Once Zod and his comrads are sent to the phantom Zone on Jor El's final vote Zod consider's it to be a betrayal of the man who he admired and in a sense aspired to be. Several of Zod's close ally's in the coupe die in the Phantom Zone leaving Ursa and Non the only soilder's who've survived . Once he is freed from the phantom zone his anger at Jor El is not just out of revenge for imprisonment but out of a personal Betrayal.

Thats an interesting approach frodo, I dont know if i would go with it myself. it could work well on screen. how old are you thinking of jorel/zod on krypton stage?

I was thinking Zod would be 28 or 29 with Ursa being around the same age and non being the youngest . Jor El would be in his 40's or 50's . I'd have Zod and his follower's be The Young Turks as opposed to being the same generation as Jor El.

Your welcome:yay:. I'm pretty sure i'm gonna write a trilogy story treatment since I have no idea how to write a script.Lol. It's a question of getting around to it I guess. The 1st part would have Metallo and Morgan Edge, The Second Brainac and the third Zod. I'll probably have Lex as an emerging character through out the three . I have idea's but it's question of getting feedback and staying true to the spirit of the mythology .
