I wouldn't mind a villain that doesn't require a massive amount of CGI. I think a villain like Kraven would work since we can get some decent hands-on fight sequences and less "spectacle" like with Electro.

True, though TSSM handled the fights pretty well. I think I would love to see a recreation of the fight where Spider-Man and Kraven are fighting while falling next to the side of a building. So classic and iconic.

The Oscorp angle was a good tool to make things less random, but the writers abused it.

I would like to see new villains as well. The villains that should appear in every incarnation IMO are Green Goblin and Doc Ock. The same way Joker makes an appearance in every Batman reboot.

I would've been okay with a few things, like Ock works at Oscorp like the Ultimates, but it was frakin' overkill that Oscorp was a villain making machine. It really really pissed me off to see the wings / tentacles in there, that takes so much away from Toomes & Octavius. I also agree, no SM series is complete without Goblin or Ock.

Literally everything comes from Oscorp. I think it was a great idea to have Oscorp spawn both Spider-Man and the Lizard in TASM1 and have everything tie together. Peter's father worked for Oscorp, so he paid them a visit, got bit, and met Dr. Connors in the process. Fine. I can also deal with Gwen working there as an intern.

In TASM2, Russian gangsters are just happening to steal an Oscorp truck with plutonium. Max Dillon happens to get saved by Spider-Man right in front of Oscorp--literally RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE OF OSCORP. Aleksei Systevich (spelling?) gets his Rhino costume from Oscorp. The symbiote comes from Oscorp (although that scene was deleted). The tentalces and Vulture wings come from Oscorp. I won't complain about the Goblin suit coming from Oscorp since that's sort of obligatory.

Here's my question: is Oscorp literally just a villain factory? What is their plan anyway? Why does special projects exist? I assume that the company was trying to save Norman Osborn's life and did some cross-species experiments to heal him, but what's the deal with vulture wings or octopus tentacles?

Plot holes aplenty in the movies. Like I said a while ago, these reboot films were not passion projects by Sony. It was a lame attempt to cash in on whatever was popular at the time, in a mad rush to make billions of dollars that just completely backfired on them. While I'm not expecting every CBM to be the most thought-provoking film ever (GOTG proves that they can be great by just being a thrill ride), there needs to be a level of logic and reasoning behind the script.

The first question that comes to mind is: why would they put their only big franchise in the hands of the writers of Transformers 2?

Well, to be fair...TF2 did make an assload of money at the box office, and Spidey is a recognized name in households everywhere, so while not a bright idea, I can get it....if you get a hold of the money-grubbing minds at Sony.

True. But even though TF2 made so much money, it was also a critical failure and was horribly sloppy. But they only care about money so I guess I can see the "logic" in it from their perspective.

I do want to see Venom, but I think they should start off with a completely new villain. The symbiote storyline is something that has to be told over multiple films to be done properly, so while they build up to Venom, they should use other villains in the meantime.

I would really love to see a symbiote Spider-Man fight the S6 before Venom comes in.

I believe it's because of SM3 added with the frustration of wanting to see Marvel's Spidey go in an entirely new direction.

I'd say go with a Gangster/Mob Boss type, main villain
and have them found the creation of Spider Slayers

or maybe show some escalation, start out with some of the known Mob Hench men (like Hammer Head) then upgrade to, the enforcers, in some tech-ed out battle suits... then Spider Slayers

Hammerhead would be different and along with Shocker as muscle or Rhino. Always liked Hammerhead classic foe.

Kingpin/Shocker/Scorpion/Otto Octavius/Jean DeWolff/Alistair Smythe/Daredevil:

-A scene showing the mob doing business at the harbor port.
Richard Fisk is a Captain in Kingpin's mob,and him and his men are seen doing business with the Russian mob there.

-A shootout breaks out and Richard Fisk is shot and is taken to a mob doctor (Otto Otavius).

-Mac Garagan and Jean DeWolff are cops and are the first ones to respond to the shootout at the port.
When they get there they see a car taking off at a great speed.

They follow the car to a shady place.Jean DeWolff tries to talk Mac Gargan out of going in there to confront the mob.

-As the two cops are arguing a limo pulls up in front of the building,and Wilson Fisk gets out of the limo and goes into the building.

-As the two cops make there way in the building they quietly stand outside the room that Wilson Fisk and Dr.Octavius is in as Dr.Octavius is in the middle of surgery trying to save Wilson Fisk's son's life.

-Richard Fisk dies,and right after Dr.Octavius says I'm sorry there was nothing I could do.
Wilson Fisk grabs Dr.Octavius and lifts him up over his head,and then slams Octavius over his knee breaking Octavius spine.

Then Wilson Fisk starts hammering Octavius with his fists like a ravage ape.Octavius is screaming in pain yelling,I'm sorry Kingpin over and over.

-Mac Gargan shocked when he hears that Wilson Fisk is the Kingpin runs into the room to try and stop Wilson Fisk.

Mac Gargan holding his pistol at the Kingpin yelling for him to stop before he shoots him.

Kingpin stops and looks at Mac Gargan.Mac Gargan tells his partner Jean DeWolff to radio it in.

Jean DeWolff says to Mac Gargan,I'm sorry I can't do that,I tried to talk you out of coming in here as she holds her pistol to Mac Gargan's head.

Kingpin takes Mac Gargan's pistol and knocks him across the room.
Kingpin holds the pistol at Mac Gargan and says to Jean DeWolff,can he be paid off?
DeWolff says not a chance in hell.Kingpin shoots Mac Garagan.

-Thirty minutes later when firetrucks,ambulances,and police show up they find Mac Gargan is still alive.

-Mac Gargan is in a ambulance and keeps chanting,I know who the Kingpin is.

-Daredevil can hear him as the ambulance is driving through the city.Daredevil heads to the hospital.

-At the hospital Mac Gargan is unconscious so Daredevil waits for him to wake up.

-The news is reporting that Mac Gargan is alive but unconscious,and he said he knows who the Kingpin is.Daredevil knows the Kingpin is gonna send someone down to try and take out Gargan.
Spider-Man shows up,because he was thinking the same thing.

-The Shocker shows up to try and kill Gargan,but Spider-Man and Daredevil take him out in a big battle.But before they do the Shocker blasts the oxygen tank that Mac Gargan is hooked up to,and he is blown up.
Everyone thinks Mac Gargan is dead.

-A few years go by,and a new villain (The Scorpion) shows up and kills Jean DeWolff.

-Spider-Man wants vengeance,because Jean DeWolff was his friend.

-At a ceremony Wilson Fisk is cutting the ribbon to open up a children's hospital that he has built.
Spider-Man saves Wilson Fisk's life when the Scorpion shows up and tries to kill Wilson Fisk.

-Spider-Man thinks the Scorpion is pure evil,because the Scorpion already killed a good cop who was his friend,and now the Scorpion is trying to kill Wilson Fisk who is also a great guy who is always helping people.

-But Spider-Man finds out at the end of the movie after he defeats the Scorpion that Jean Dewollf was a dirty cop,that Wilson Fisk is the Kingpin,and that the Scorpion is Mac Gargan who is still alive,and who is actually a good guy.

-Small flashback as the Scorpion explains to Spider-Man how a guy named of Alistair Smythe who is a robotics engineer who was also a victim to the Kingpin gave him a new body.The whole scene looks like the Robocop movie remake where Gargan just has his head,lungs,and trachea.

-Matt Murdock is in court miles away as he hears this confession from Mac Gargan.Daredevil now knows who the Kingpin is.

-The Scorpion is a anti-hero.

They had a perfect adaption in Spider-Man 3 the movie. No one needs to make up for perfection.

You really can do that sorta summary with every character by oversimplifying their characters to their base levels. Some Venom stories portray him as bitter and vengeful, while others show him a little more nuanced.

Also, he hates Carnage initially because he feels responsible for creating a serial killer like him when he really just wants to kill Spider-Man--and anyone who gets in his way.

Also, this is keeping the whole father thing, ex wife, and cancer subplots out of the mix, which did do a good job of adding more depth to his character.

Venom needs to be done sooner than later, and I think Marvel, with their cosmic universe, can do a good job of introducing him. They'd probably do a better job, too.

The last thing we need is a crooked Jean DeWollf. That sounds exactly like the sort of thing Avi would do.


As for Venom, I'm not a huge fan, but still want to see him again because he has to exist in order for Flash to get the suit. If they thread the story out over multiple films (Symbiote on Spidey in one movie, Brock as the villain in the next) Ultimatly, I think it would work best if Brock was the pawn in someone else's game.
