Red Dwarf

Pretty funny so far, altho they seem to be skipping on details of what they have been doing for 9 years, and what happened to other people

i really feel this is going to be something that works better as a whole rather than in parts

Indeed basically its going to be one episode broken into three, so when they get to the set of corrie things should pick up anyway

it's annoying that it'll work better as one...it means all three willsuck but be watchable and rather good as one

Well that was different, gotta see how the other two specials turn out and also see what happened in the last 9 years e.g. how Rimmer became a hologram again and what happened to everyone else, etc...also I felt the CGI was abit off, I loved old Red Dwarf for it's cheesy models and special effects and it's great writing and laughs, I think that's why I didn't enjoy the last season cause it had too much CGI and none of the great stories or laughs like the past seasons

indeed,

part of the reason why Red Dwarf became so popular is because the cheap sets and live audience filming was done so expertly.

Red Dwarf has never really relied on special effects, its been about the stories and the actors.

I still didn't get the new episode, and how it fits in after season 9!

maybe the next part will clarify!

Well i missed the first episode but I did manage to catch the first 10 mins on Dave-ja-vu and based on that, it doesn't look fantastic. I know it's only the first one and I only saw 10 minutes of it so it might come into it's own in the next 2 eps.. But I dunno.

Naylor has this thing about doing the movie, which with an actual movie budget would be really good but.. trying to make the tv show more movie like, it just doesn't work with Red Dwarf.

Oh and Red Dwarf NEEDS a laughter track.

Yeah the Laughter track is what is making it feel really odd to me, feels lost without it, that and no holly :(

A big improvement oveer the first show. Loved the Blade Runner references

I've got one word for it... lame.

It's just not Red Dwarf at all IMO.. I dunno what made them think it was a good idea. I know Red Dwarf is a comedy but there was always a strong and serious sci-fi element.. but they've turned it into a light hearted, 'dumbed down/kiddy/Doctor Who' kind of sci-fi.. and it's not very funny on top of that! As I said earlier, it also doesn't work without the laughter track imo.

I don't get it.. My biggest problem is the story, it's just not working for me at all but the cast have obviously still got 'it'.. so why couldn't they just do a normal Dwarf series. The stuff they have alluded to with Kochanski etc, why not just do that..

And why cast Sophie Winkleman and make her talk with a crap russain accent? Her normal accent is sexy lol.

just watched the 2nd ep and that was much better, funnier and everything:up:

still not classic but it never will be...

When will you guys learn Red Dwarf was only funny 20 years ago.

Its like you guys wanted this for years and now you don't like it.

Red Dwarf got lame at the end. They lost the magic.

Nar got **** when Rob Grant left

not to me...the first episode was a terrible set up but the 2nd part was awesome, where rimmer killed the other one was funny as hell and when they were talking about why dvd was replaced by video was awesome:up:

i will give you the killing i laughed at that, but i'm not laughing as much as i used to with the show, and i enjoyed aspects of series 8 so that says a lot

i really feel for the plot they thought lets go the easiest clichéd route

kind of a bump has any got good quality versions of the two themes, it's near impossible to find decent ones on the web

i wasn't happy with parts 1 or 2, but i really enjoyed 3 and i thought the final twist was interesting and well done, it ended the series in typical fashion no happy ending no sad ending just an ending

Yeah i liked the episode(s) as a whole if they would have shown it as one big part it would have been great.
The ending was clever and typical Red Dwarf.

Still has a funny feel to it though, must be the REDone Cameras they were using.

Have to say that after watching all the episodes, that was actually a pretty good Dwarf story... a little drawn out, but as black_dust has already said, the ending was clever and typical dwarf.

Plus, AWESOME reference to one of the best episodes in the series.

That was amazing. I'd honestly put Part 3 up there with Dimension Jump and Back to Reality as one of the best ever made. It ended in a way that if they made another series, they could, but if this is the last episode of Red Dwarf ever... I'm very, very satisified.

Totally agree ....

After watching all three parts that was bad on almost every level ...

The loss of the laughter track makes it feel empty and the story was dire.

And when it finally ended they were back on the Dwarf and I actually wanted it to carry on from there.

Agreed with that, I would have liked to have seen Holly in there somewhere and It would have been nice to have the Laughter track but oh well.

liked part 3 alot but still think part two was the best of them all.

and i loved how it was tied to my favourate classic ep:woot:

Well i loved all 3 episodes, did feel strange without a laugh track but the cast have still got it. Strange how it was set after series 9 and 10 so im wondering if they have 9 and 10 planned to explain Kochanskis death and the return of Hologram Rimmer. These episodes were much better then the whole of series 7 and 8.
