Wow I somehow completely missed this news yesterday, but I'm down with it, especially after seeing her get casted as Jill Valentine. She's an incredibly talented actress with an exotic/unique look and Im glad to see her getting all these big roles in Hollywood lately because she deserves to break out.

Also not sure about the overly-filled in thick eyebrows that is a common feature today. That will look anachronistic for a sword and sorcery story.

I'm sure she'll just remain in her default voice mode. It's a fantasy series so you're going to see a bunch of different accents anyway.

They are gonna run into this issue, which is that frankly... The chainmail bikini armor/costume is about the ONLY thing anyone knows about the character. But... It is ridiculous too and no amount of costuming finagling will change that. You can make the materials look robust, you can enlarge the coverage, you can add on some other armor/cloting elements but if at the end of the day it's a metal bikini for all intents... It won't come off well unless you are doing something closer to satire or parody. Because ultimately the outfit is designed for one purpose... Titilation. Which can work, but again, probably not in a serious action adventure movie.

Kind of funny to me that some are freaking out over this casting and her not being a red head when Red Sonja has a completely unnatural shade of red hair most of the time and most of the cosplayers are in red wigs!

Hannah John Kamen has a pretty ‘perfect’ comic book look, IMO. Strong brows, light, cat shaped eyes, big lips, strong jaw and cheek bones... She’s the perfect archetype for a female comic character. She’s got a look that would work for a lot of characters.

I quickly did this just to get an idea of what she would look like with reddish hair. It suits her! Looking forward to seeing this.

Well, her being cast in this definitely has my interest. I don’t know anything about the director though. A quick google search shows that they’ve done a fair amount of well-received tv stuff but nothing that remotely seems to involve fantasy/action. Not that that necessarily means they won’t be able to do a good job.

I've never seen the old film but this seems like solid casting to me for a modern take.
