Reeve on The Batman " it’s not part of the extended universe"?? your preference??

Everybody is talking about Batman. That's fine and all. But with these rumors about stand-alone Batman and Joker (?) films, I really, really, really want a standalone Superman trilogy done right.

Come on Mark Waid and Brad Bird! Make it happen.

*Ends rant. Flies away*

EDIT: Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Thank Christ he's cleared it up good and quick!

Moral of the story - don't get your hopes up.

I dunno, seems like damage control to me. I think everyone expected his Batman movie to focus on Batman.

Plus there's that whole issue of Gotham being right next to Metropolis.

I was watching Batman Year One the other day(the animated movie, hence my new avvie), and I noticed Metropolis was very close to Gotham too, lol.

Its a non issue. Superman would respect Batman to deal with his problems, and would not get involved in the street level stuff Batman operates on. Like in the comics.

We don't know when this movie takes place. We already had a WW movie that was set in the past. It could take place before the events of MOS. That would be an easy way to not include the other heroes in your movie.

How it damage control? They announced batman apart of the DCU lineup ages ago. If you read the full wuote he was talking about it being its own film.

Superman being close means noting. Superman has his own business going on judt like the rest of the league membe rs. Superman is in the comics and cartoons too, but he doesn't randomly show up to help unless call to.

It can take place anytime. Superman, flash, WW etc... can do their own thing. They don't have to intervene unless said director wants them too. Just like all Avengers don't show up in iron man movies.

Johns: "hey Matt, you HAVE to mix other JL characters in your Batman movie because Gotham is right next to Metropolis"

Reeves: "...:loco:"

Yeah, I didn't think this would be the case originally, but I'm starting to really buy into that theory that the Reeves Batman trilogy will be all be set in the past, before Man of Steel takes place.

If that is the case, I bet one of the films is going to end up including A Death in the Family in some shape or form in it.

War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is developing a Batman stand alone that, according to sources, will not star Ben Affleck, who plays the caped crusader in the DC Universe movies (Warners and Affleck have denied he is being replaced). The plan is to launch a separate label for these projects to distinguish them from the rest of the DC films. (Warners executives are acutely aware of the risks of audience
confusion.)

Here we go again... ahahaha

I, like A LOT of people, are sick of every week someone has to come out with a "Affleck wont star in the Batman" report.

Unfortunately it's not going away until Justice League is out of theaters. So buckle down. We've got five months to go.

The more this comes up, the less and less it seems like news, even more so after Matt Reeves' tweets. Yeah, people will and probably are quick to say 'But wait, he didn't say Affleck was HIS Batman,' but even Collider is jumping on this again. And this is around the same time we just got the recent interview Affleck and Ezra Miller did for Justice League. It's like a roller coaster. If only the internet would just play it off like when James Cameron downplayed Wonder Woman.

If Matt Reeves' Batman is set in the past with a younger Batman, it kills three birds with one stone:

- It can function as a stand-alone
- It can also function as an entry in the DCEU (Like WW, it simply predates MoS in the timeline)
- You have a perfect excuse to replace Ben Affleck

I think there's far too much smoke over Ben Affleck leaving for it to false. We've heard it consistently over the last several months, and from various sources. Which is why I'm wondering, with one film left on his contract perhaps WB would rather use that for Justice League 2.

THR will never learn. Well I take that back, they learn that their stories with no facts that are proven wrong still get people to read them...beyond that though they never learn ;)

They basically took 2 rumors (Affleck leaving and the DC Alternate Universe) and mashed them together without any evidence or connection. They basically did what the trolls do around here :D

I don't think THR would run with a story unless it had some validity to it.

Some validity is the key word. Because if this was anywhere close to 100% they wouldn't have dropped it on a Friday morning.

Right, but "some validity" is all they really need to report what they reported today. I'm sure they have it on good word that Affleck is considering exiting the project altogether, and frankly I've been expecting him to for a while now. You don't just sit and let this remain in limbo for this long. Something is going on behind the scenes and all signs, at this moment, point to Affleck leaving.

Hey, outlets ran with the narrative that Reeves' film wasn't part of the DCEU, and even after his tweets, some probably still believe it's a separate story. And even then those outlets felt they had it right.

Ryan Gosling or Jake Gyllenhaal for standalone Reeves Batman!!!
