release date announced for Buffy season 8

September 18, 2006 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer is making a comeback. Not in the form of a new TV show or a feature film, but as a comic book. Written by series creator Joss Whedon, with art by Georges Jeanty (American Way), Buffy: Season 8 picks up after the end of the TV series, with Sunnydale destroyed and Buffy in charge on an army of slayers. Of course, the good times never last for Buffy. In the first four-issue story arc, an old menace will resurface, though details on who this might be remain guarded.

I'll give the first issue a shot. Hopefully, without Sarah Michelle Gellar channeling her dissatisfaction with being tied to a lowly cult TV series into the role, Buffy will be much less of a ***** than she was in season 7.

Ugh, season 7 was good Corp, SMG was good in it. You need to reassess it with a repeat viewing

Even if she WAS pissed that season, which I don't think she was, I'm pretty sure I would be pissed too after getting robbed of an emmy nom for at least season 5

I'm pretty sure you're overrreacting. SMG wasn't channeling anything during season 7. It was a natural progression of the character.

Seriously, Buffy season 7 was about war. Buffy had to be a general. She didn't handle it perfectly, she realized that by the end

While Buffy Season Eight sounds good, I'd much rather see Angel Season Six. Having Spike, Angel, and Illyria (barely) survive their encounter with Wolfram & Hart's army by the greatest tactic of all (I/E, killing a bunch of them and running away), and becoming sort of urban vigilantes, taking on both demonic and human crime, would be pretty damn cool.
