I never want to see jaws remade or a movie based on monoply.

I never want to see a live action DB/DBZ movie

The remakes I wouldn't want them to makes is on top off my head, Casablanca, Sunset Blvd, Bergman's films and I'd say the same thing for Kurosawa's films but there's a few remakes of his films that's made already.

Wouldnt it make more sense if you made a thread asking people what remakes they WANT to see made?

any kevin smith or michael mann film remake

I'm pretty sure they already remade 'Casablanca', a made for tv movie though.

This is quite a difficult one, I tend to agree with 'Jaws', but part of me would always be interested in seeing what they did with a remake, i don't think they could do better than Jaws though. They would show the shark, and part of what makes that movie great, is that through smart editing and s/track use, they created an underwater threat in our imaginations that no fake shark could have equalled. A case of 'necessity being the mother of invention' working out well.
I do think that there are certain films that would be pretty much a waste of time re-making, the LOTR trilogy, Star Wars(maybe), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Fight Club, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Taxi Driver, ...as they are pretty much as close to cinema perfection in succeeding in what they set out to do.
and there are certain individual's work that would lose their essential flavour if covered by someone else attempting to replicate that artist's work, like Tarantino's movies, or some of David Lynch's work.
so those are a waste of time too.

Whenever I wonder about them remaking jaws I use deep blue sea as an example of how they would do it with the effects. They would most certainly cgi the shark and make the characters bland and shallow. Theres no way a remake of the could capture the majic of the original.

Back to the future is another on that creeps into my mind of never being remade. The star wars prequels wouldnt be hard to outdo but as long as george is alive they will never bee touched unless he rerererererereleases them with "never before seen footage" and cleaned up effects. Tarantino's films luckily can never bee remade because noone else has that style that quintin has.

I love Seven Samurai but I also enjoyed Samurai Seven (Anime version) and Magnificent 7 was pretty good too.

Movies that shouldn't ever be remade:

Jaws, Shawshank, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Godfather, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz

Well I haven't seen The Magnificent Seven so that explains it, but I heard it's good so that's fine.

I mean in general there's a lot movies that does have remakes so it all boils down to the execution, I mean if it's good then it's fine, if it's bad well too bad. Nobody is forcing me to watch the remake and I'll still have the original movie to enjoy. :)

Videodrome
Dead Ringers

Trick 'r Treat (200?)

The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I don't need to see someone with a hard-on for Tom Bombadil and The Scouring of the Shire try and "do it right" in another 20 years.

Every 20 years we get another King Kong movie.Who cares about a big giant ape.

Gotta agree with you on that one. I love Peter Jackson, but why he felt a need to give us another Kong is beyond me. I know it was his favorite movie when he was a kid. Doesn't mean we needed another one.

Will Smith's Annie remake with his daughter in the lead.

I really hope that live action Voltron never sees the light of day, the same goes for Akira. I find it downright sickening to see anime be made into live action films and they cast the film with actors that bear little to no resemblance to the characters and water down the storyline, thus resulting in a big slap to the face towards any fan of the particular series.

Star Blazers is another movie that doesn't need to be live action.
