Remakes that SHOULD be made.

The movie was horrible and used nothing good from the book. The only noteworthy thing about the mini-series is Pennywise, and even that was toned down significantly.

That and that damn guy with the ponytail and uber-mole on his face.

Tim Curry was great as Pennywise though.

uggh, just reading the wiki description made me sick. and it makes no sense! it would've been more practical for her to give them head.:o

Haha I'll admit that scene should be left out.
But there are so many great scary scenes that would be awesome to see.
The creepy leper homeless guy in the abbandoned house.
The refrigerator full of flying leeches.
Pennywise with razorblade teeth and bleeding gums popping balloons and yelling at the guy while no one else can hear him.

It'd be an awesome movie.:woot:

i was always expecting a sequel to it. i thought tim curry's pennywise was perfect

I wish they would just rerelease some of the older popular films rather than try to redo them.

What studios should do since they waste money and creative skill on remakes anyway, is take some movies that are known for being bad or dissapointing and have a reimagining to improve on wasted potential.

some good classic movies should have an update, but only if they are extremely old and obviously dated.

maybe Nosferatu?

Most of Hollywood is stupid. I don't get the logic behind remaking good films. The only films that should be remade are old ones with good ideas behind them but bad execution. What the hell is the point of remaking a good film!?!

I think it's blasphemy just to MENTION such a thing.

that's all kind of a matter of opinion though, isn't it?

i mean, for sure, some movies will never need to be remade, because it was the actors that made the movies what they were, not the ideas, or action, etc... and performances are pretty timeless, when done right.

the godfather, scarface, revenge of the nerds, movies like that, with no special effects to be updated, that have nothing to be updated, really... those are the only kind of movies that don't need re-imagining. movies like the day the earth stood still, with cheesy 50's acting, bad special effects (by today's standards) etc, could use a nice touch up for modern audiences who otherwise would never even have heard of it.

Scarface will more than likely be remade. It went from a 50's gangster to a 70's drug lord, I'm sure a modern day gang banger version will be done sooner or later. :o

that's true... i always forget that it's a remake to begin with.

and given all of the modern day "rapper's" fascination with the movie... oh god.

[agent smith] it is inevitable [/agent smith]

Although I really like it, X-men 3 could be remade to be a 2 part back to back movie. Completely fleshing out the Phoenix storyline. Part 1 (which would be movie 3) have it about jean coming back and dealing with the new powers, and throwing in the cure subplot, and in the end introduce Dark Phoenix. Part 2 (being the 4th movie coming out a year later) Have cure plot already finished and Dark phoenix take up the entire movie.

Psycho comes to mind. The acting in Hitchcock's original was superb and no effects were necessary yet they remade it and the remake was an atrocity. Probably the most unnecessary remake of all time.

A Ghostbusters remake could be fun with the right cast & updated Special Effects. But it will be very hard to top it & therefore they should not even try it.

Then why even bring it up? Ban him, Ban him now! :cmad:

The casting was just odd for the remake, Anythony Perkins just had this quiet creepyness to him as Norman. Janet Leigh just seemed like an average everyday person (a good thing)

Where as in the remake Vince Vaughn just seemed more like a odd dirty pervert. And Anne Heche just had to much rumors and what not surrounding her personal life that it was hard to take her seriously.

So the psychological element was all lost, I almost wanted to see this black and white again or atleast maybe visually darker. The movie just didnt feel right.

those formentioned ones:
clockwork orange
wizard of oz
gone with the wind
the shining
Jaws
Blade Runner
Terminator*
Conan the barbarian*
ET
Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
*These movies should never be touched, ever especially oz/gone with the wind.

Movies I want to see remade:

The Crow(just I want the series to be reborn),could never replace BL though.
Ultraviolet:had great potential could use better acting/story

The Black Hole: I really enjoyed this movie, wouldnt mind seeing this redone with todays cgi.
Dune: Like to see this redone as well, original was good, but could use a little updateing(other remakes were bad).
LadyHawk: I enjoyed this movie, like to see it touched up,and more stuff done to it. Though rutger haugher(sp) made the movie.
Krull: I enjoyed this movie,I think it could benefit with right director and todays CGI.
Excaliber: This might be one of those 'dont touch' movies, but this could benefit from a remake(though hollywood seems contempt on doin king arthor stories(king author/last legion?).
The Dark Crystal: Could almost put this in the 'do not touch' movies, but I would love to see this with todays CGI.
Tron: I dont remember much of this movie, but it what I do remember was pretty decent.

Thats all I can think of right now, theres plenty of movies that shouldnt be remade and some that should. We all have our opinions, but the one who really counts is Hollywoods as it seems they have no boundries on what movies will and wont be remade..

*really I dont want the Crow to be remade(by my favorite comic movie) I just want them to rehash the movies at least for a couple more(female crow/japenese crow)...

Its a shame that the franchise got worse and worse with each movie, the first one is a classic. There are so many stories that they can still do, hopefully one day we will see another quality crow film made.

No.

Ghostbusters 3 or nothing.

Street Fighter!

Somebody said Magnificent 7:

HECK YEAH!!!!!!!

Great 50 year old movies deserve to be remade, since they're forgotten, but still good, giving you something to build on. I really can't describe how awesome a Magnificent 7 could be... ESPECIALLY if they got 7 guys we all know and love...

I'd say Rear Window but we just got that with Disturbia...which was a great twist to the story.
