Remakes that wouldn't drive you crazy!

Some of these suggestions are absolutely bloody awful, but also completely indicative of the logic that causes all this remake madness - "it's 'outdated', so let's update it, make it hip and now and edgy!"

I completely agree with the suggestion of Van Helsing. That's the type of movie that should be remade - one with a great concept but awful execution.

Definitely. I'd like a movie about Dr. Bram Van Helsing traveling the world battling different Universal Monsters. The movie had a good concept but bloody poor execution. Basically they just tried to fluff it up and make Helsing this action hero and completely missed the mark. Like someone said, they completely ripped off Solomon Kane. Dr. Van Helsing should be more like Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow than Solomon Kane.

Ladyhawk

The synthesizer score just murdered what wouldv'e been a great movie (IMO).

a modern day Jekyll and hide, maybe a Tarzan reboot, an "Alien 3" remake which retcons alien 3, alien resurrection and the two avp films, an all grown up Newt on a blade runner style Earth could be the main character with cameos by Ripley and Hicks.

Daredevil.
Alien3 (& eventually Resurrection)
D*** turtlefocker beat me. A re-make of Alien3 with Hicks & Bishop kicking alien azz would be awesome. Forget the horror crap, all the scary stuff was done in Alien.

chamber-music, I was going with what Infinity 9999x said about taking movies with good premises and try to improve on them. Although I love Event Horizon, it could be improved upon. The concept was a really great idea and it had the potential to be a great movie.

I agree with Fright Night, there's got to be a hotter leading lady than Marcy from Married with Children.

She was kinda cute back then! I do agree, though, A Fright Night remake would hardly be sacrilege.

And it's time for a balls-to-the-wall Golden Child remake! Directed by Guillermo Del Toro!

The Last Dragon - any children of the 80's remember that little gem?

:D

That's what I was thinking when I mentioned it. There are so many movies out there that have great concepts, but execute poorly.

Like I said before, I think the Brother's Grimm had great potential. If I remade it I'd focus a bit more on the spooky aspect and do less of the funny joke stuff. I'd also look into the real basis for some of the legends they explored in real life, then try to work those into the movie as well to make it seem a bit more grounded, but keep the spooky mistic aspect as well.

I also agree that Ghost Rider is definitely in need of a reboot. That movie could have been soooo much better in so many ways. Hopefully in another couple of years a new team will come by and try it.

I think a new Zorro would be good. Not a remake necessarily, but just another sequel to The Mask of Zorro. Pretend that Legend never happened and carry on from there.

Also, since I'm such a big fan of the books, in another 20 years I'd love to see a remake of the Bourne movies, but follow the books more closely. It would be awesome to actually see Carlos on film.

i Would like to be Remake the phatom. its a superhero movie. its really good movie. I wouldn't mind dasiter in time be remake. its time travel movie from the 80's.

IT

I'd kick down the studio door, drop a copy of the book on the yeast roll of an executive's desk and say "Here's my script. We're remaking it. Where's my budget?!"

Thrashin'

Just watched it for the first time. I had high hopes for it because it had a cool premise. Too bad that the director can't direct shait. The acting is piss poor and the action sequences lack the tension and, um, action.

If a remake is ever going to happen; give Josh Brolin a cameo and get RHCP back to do the same scene again they did for the original.

Personally, I'd love to see a more by the book approach to the Wizard of Oz, but it'll never happen.
