Oh i just ment that as to get people to see them, mainly because people could pay less to rent the movie and watch it from home a lot cheaper. So it seems like with the older movie they would need to entice people to come back and see them again.

I agree. Which is sad. Watching a movie at home and watching it in the theatre are two different things. Its like 3 or 4 bucks to rent a movie and 7 to 9 bucks to go see it. I'd pay the extra cash to see it huge and loud and wide, the way movies were ment to be seen. The best part? There might not be those obnoxiuos kids screwing around in the theatre if it shows movies from before they were born

No more damn remakes!

I really think remakes could be awesome

and it isn't hollywoods influx that makes them bad, its just people not really making a new movie with an old concept they are making a rehased movie of an old concept

I Would love to see a 200 million dollar clash of the titans, I think that would offer a visual experience like nothing we have had yet, if that happens I am 100 percent behind it

I want to see a remake of Day of the Dead, which they are currently making unfortunately everything Ive seen so far of it makes me think its going to be utter crap. Hopefully Diary of the Dead will be better.

You can now add Meatballs, Near Dark, and Dirty Dozen to the list. I had Dirty Dozen in my poll as a dream project. Of the 3 above Dirty Dozen could be freaking a great remake without taking anything away from the original. Near Dark? Meatballs? Not needed.

ComingSoon.net has gotten its hands on a list that is being circulated around major talent agencies in Hollywood which includes all the movies that the studios are making a priority before the impending Writers Guild, Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild strike next year. The list contains a lot of interesting information about upcoming movies and directors that are currently attached. (Caveat emptor: Some of these directors may not have actually signed or agreed to make the movies their next projects.) Here are some highlights followed by the full list!

- Justin Lin will be returning to direct The Fast and the Furious 4.
- Director Brad Silberling (Lemony Snicket) is attached to develop a movie based on the TV show "Land of the Lost."
- Drew Barrymore is slated to direct her first feature, something called Whip It.
- Summit is trying to get rolling on the thriller Need directed by Ryan Murphy, which is to star Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts. (ComingSoon.net spoke to Watts last week and she said that she's still interested.)
- Adaptations of Stephen King's Cell by Eli Roth and Yann Martel's Life of Pi by Jean-Pierre Jeunet also appear on the list, making one think they'll be rolling into production sooner rather than later.
- Guy Ritchie's name is listed next to the Warner Bros. remake of The Dirty Dozen!
- A new directing project for Robert Redford is a movie called Against All Enemies.
- Stephen Sommers is not listed as the director of G.I. Joe even though it was recently announced by Hasbro via Variety.
- George Miller is listed in parentheses for Justice League, so maybe that's not as definite as some sites would like to believe.
- The list confirms that Accepted director Steve Pink will helm Fletch Won for the Weinstein Company.
- Directors Justin Chadwick and Wayne Kramer are listed as possibles for something called Seventh Samurai from the Weinstein Company. Could this be the rumored remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai?
- The Coen Brothers, whose new movie No Country for Old Men comes out later this year and who are finishing up Burn After Reading with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, have a movie listed for Focus Features called The Serious Man.
- Director John Whitesell (Big Momma's House) is listed next to a movie called Meatballs for Lionsgate, which is presumably a remake of the 1979 Bill Murray camp comedy.
- Matthew Vaughn's Thor, which was just announced by Marvel Films, is on the list of a movie that's being fast-tracked before the strike.
- Wolgang Petersen is listed as the director for a movie called Alien Uprising.
- David Dobkin will direct Monster Hunter.

I could see a dirty dozen update, the original is a classic. I do see them doing something like oceans 11 but in a war setting. Thats not necessarily a bad thing.


Meatballs I am indifferent on this one, if its remade I am sure its going to be in the style of a lot of the teen movies we've seen lately and not to the caliber of the original.

I am very interested in the remake of Funny Games. I saw the original about 7 years ago and it blew me away. It will also be a strange experiment to see a director remake his own film epsecially to infiltrate the Hollywood market!......

Blade Runner still holds up well in today's time. It's not exactly an action packed film. It's a killer story though with great acting and directing. It'd be cool if they remade it in 20 years or so with the digital 3d technology.

It's not on the poll, but I would love to finally see a decent movie version of Salem's Lot. It's my absolute favorite Stephen King novel, and it's been screwed up into not just one, but two TV miniseries.

A really cool big-screen version that's actually as scary as the book as would be amazing.
