Spidey 3 Update
Well, things on the show have been pretty steady. Now that primary photography is over we've been working directly with the Director, Sam, on almost a daily basis to get turnovers prepared for SPI (Sony Pictures Imageworks). A turnover is a shot that needs to be handed over to the vfx company for them to do work on it. Since, these are usually just backplates with nothing apparently going on in the shot, we've been tracking and doing post-viz to add animation and basic vfx to the backplate, so that SPI knows what should be happening in each shot. In many cases, Sam has wanted to make changes to existing previz or we've had to modify it to match the actual backplate. Anyway, I have to admit the work has gotten kinda fun again. There's time to tweak things and there are no middle men to get Sam's approval on shots.
But this is not going to last long, since reshoots are probably going to start in November. Then it's back to overdrive mode! I'll probably be on the show for the rest of the year, as far as I can tell. Sam wanted everyone to have a week off while he was on vacation. But as soon as he left, other people started assigning me more shots to work on that need to be done before he gets back. So, no vacation until next year! Honestly, after this show is over, I just want to take a few months off and recharge....and update my website for one thing....
