Resident Evil 6

It's a franchise that needs a fresh approach, so what better way than to bring in a new dev?

I agree with Wolvie. Some fresh blood might really do the RE franchise some good.

The RE franchise was fine before, now everyone wants to just blow s**t up.

yeah action took to great a role in the franchise. I kind of miss bumbling around the mansion or the police station looking for one goddamn key

I miss the slow creepy music as I wander down a police station hallway. Then turn the corner and almost get bit by a T-Virus zombie. I freak out from getting lunged at, then have to turn and limp away.

Speaking of music, I love the soundtrack to the original games. Did any of you put it on your ipod?

I have a CD they put out with the music from the first bunch of games. It's some great music.

I agree, RE needs to go back to what made RE so great. Scares, paranoia and key puzzles!

Aren't we already doing that in RE5? It's not like handing this game, which might not even be RE6, to a Socom dev team would change things drastically.

Thats what i mean, RE5 has gone off in too far the opposite direction to what made this series so good. I dont have a problem with the dev, whomever it may be. Just get the direction right, which less RE5, more RE(REmake)

Just give my Outbreak with RE5 gameplay and I'll be satisfied. And reduce the ammo amount. The gameplay wasn't the bad part. Just that the rest of the game has become a whole action fest. Especially with the highly intelligent enemies, that use guns and **** as well.

Yes to this. If we had Outbreak with RE5 gameplay or hell even REmake gameplay I'd never stop playing.

Yea im thinking id like an Outbreak styled game. At least give us a large Raccoon City. The only thing i worry about with a large city is will that hurt the horror aspect? I think the first one worked so well because you were in this cramped mansion most of the time. You knew that if something or somethings were to come around the corner, you didnt have much room to maneuver.

Bigger city, more opportunity to get slaughtered. Imagine needing to get to the other side of Raccoon, but the streets are crawling with undead and you don't have enough ammo to take em all out. Brings out a bit of strategy IMO

Good point.

I think a larger environment, but with similar concepts to REmake (less ammo, more strategy involved) could be really terrifying. With a mansion, its claustrophobic, but there are only so many zombies. In a city the size of Raccoon, you essentially have an entire metropolis that wants to eat you. Pretty crazy stuff

I can't wait for this game to be released!

It looks better than RE5!

That was revealed a few weeks ago, there was gameplay footage and everything :P I think it's in the RE series thread

Supposedly there's a fifth campaign yet to be revealed.

I think you play as [BLACKOUT]the giraffe[/BLACKOUT].

Achievements look quite straightforward & fun (unlike RE5).

I can't comment on how good RE games played before RE4, since that was the first I one played. But I for one like the more action oriented gameplay, hey even though RE5 was all explosions, it still had scary moments. I mean, how can you NOT be scared when you run out of ammo going up against one (or TWO) of the Reapers? That always had me in a panic.

There is a difference between being scared and being panicked. Walking through a dilapidated mansion with 9 rounds in a beretta knowing that behind any door could be a grotesque creation that you dont have the ammo to defeat is being scared. Judo kicking africans and running from a bumbling executioner isn't the same feel. There wasn't a single scary moment to be found in RE5, if you found one, I'm sorry your just a p*ssy and thats coming from a self admitted horror wimp.

Iv made my peace with the RE series tho. I know its now an action game and I'm ok with that if they're fun. I enjoyed RE5 even tho i feel its by far the worst RE title. Cant wait for 6

Well, you and I just have two different explanations as to what is scary. I found my self scared at some moments in RE5. I found going against the Reaper on my first time as one hell of a frightening moment.

I don't think it makes me a ***** though thank you very much. -_-

Its taken a couple of years but Im finally playing RE6 and guess what? Its surprisingly not as bad as people have made it out to be. I just beat Leon's first chapter and it was enjoyable enough. People said that his campaign is more like the classic RE games but I don't see it as its still very much a shooter. Well at least in this first chapter there were no puzzles or exploration and it was a linear rush to the next checkpoint, while shooting zombies along the way. Racing through the town did bring deja vu of RE2 and I kind of feel like if they were to ever remake that game, it would be like this.

The partner system seems to work better as well. Helena is not the liability that Sheva was. You don't share ammo and items so there is less management involved. She also seems to have more health so you don't have to watch her as often.

Anyways, I'll continue on with it but so far its not a bad game. Its definitely not like the classic games but it's obviously not trying to be. It is what it is and it does it well enough to entertain

eta: I see this thread hasn't been updated in a while so Im guessing all the RE6 discussion moved to the main thread? I'll take this over there
