The Amazing Spider-Man Review of the script?

What bums me is he said in the comments section don't expect an action packed film. But then again, Batman Begins wasn't "action-packed" it had the right moments of big action, if it's all like Batman Begins, Peter Parker driven, which it's sounding like, we're golden.

He also did mention don't be surprised if the goblin turns into a monster, however, I would imagine he is saying that given this will be more like the ultimate/spectacular spider-man vision, which had both, so who knows.

But, from what he says, it might be fine, but he didn't really give any details, so I'm not going to be jumping on the wagon just yet.

Witty comebacks would be a plus, Gwen Stacy being the first major love will be a plus(Will we see Green Goblin kill her? Will we see Doc Ock kill her father?), and MJ taking a backseat will be a plus, but I am really wanting a villain confirmation, just because I'm hopeful it will be Lizard.

And...he said multiple villains, even regarding a script for only one film. If that's true, then I wouldn't complain at all. A movie can go fine with more than one villain, it just has to have a decent story to do such(i.e., Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). One main villain and one minor villain will be perfect, imo. Or perhaps the minor villain is somebody who becomes a major villain in the second film.

Gwen wasnt the love interest in Ultimate,Peter's GF was MJ.

That reviewer is talking ****,IMO. He is only speaking on the most obvious assumptions mixed in with his love for SSM. Its total BS,at least to me.

Wow so much to respond to. So I will try to respond to the questions that were asked. I didnt post this video on this site because I was not a member of it and I wouldnt know how to. You all have to realize that Vanderbuilt was rehired by sony wayyyyy before the cancellation of spider-man 4 to do a script with a blueprint for a reboot in mind. Sony already had plans to reboot the series right after a fourth movie was made. If you dont believe me then google it and im sure for those of you fans who have been following the news remember the article on it. I totally understand how some of you might not believe me but watch the video prior to my review and notice that I was the very first person to break out the news that spider-man 4 was going to be cancelled, nikki finke from deadline hollywood posted an article about how everyone of us got a letter than there are some issues between sam raimi and the studios with the storyline. Yet meanwhile between the studios and toby they came out and stated that the fourth film is not being cancelled and its a " Holiday Hiatus ". To be perfectly honest, that was a TRUE LIE. Its called hollywood politics. Also the MAIN reason as to why I couldnt give specific details is because I would get into legal issues and that also goes for anyone else in the filming industry. Trust me that some people got tempted to say things because you had your average " Well this man is full of ***** " taunts and before you know it the man spilled the beans to prove his point then later faced the consequences and for what ? To prove a point that he knew something ? Not worth getting into legal disputes or destroy your career just to prove something. You would also be disrespecting sony, marvel, and all of the people who work really hard to make this film. Besides, everyone knows that with script revisions there are ALWAYS changes.Thats why sometimes people keep thier mouths shut because if they get the smallest details wrong, they get crapped on and called a phony. Spider-Man 2 had several script revisions as well as changes in villains. Spider-Man 3 had MAJOR changes and so did spider-man 4. You can see that for yourself because these scripts are availible to the public for the exception of spider-man 4 because its not out yet. I also believe that even James camersons script is also out there. As far as to what Alvin Sargeant and marc webb are doing as of right now or what changes were made, I have no idea. You would have to be an idiot to not follow the simple basic formula's that were the missing links in sam raimi's version. Which is gwen stacy as a first love interest, the whitty comebacks, and the idea that the majority of trouble peter / spider-man gets into is because of his own faults and has to deal with the consequences of it. Maybe they might change it to a love triangle betweem mj and gwen, or maybe they might change it all together. I am hoping that they dont change any of it. I am 100 % postive that the root they are going for the new reboot is completely different from sam raimis version and more like the spectacular and ultimate series. If I am wrong, I will eat the daily bugle paper and video it. Thats how sure I am of it. Thats the one aspect that will not change in the script because its peter parker / Spiderman begins and not a sequel to sam raimis films.

This is **** anyone could have pieced together the minute they announced the reboot. As soon as they said high school angst, anyone and everyone assumed Ultimate with some of the Spectacular series mixed in. The Vanderbilt script was already rumored to be dark and contemporary. I don't know how old this video is, but it was **** I already assumed. Villains we haven't seen before? Gwen and the love interest? Not news. I don't want him getting into trouble by divulging the villains, but it is really not a scoop at this point unless it is casting related or you actually want to reveal the specifics which not even fanboys want to know this early. I don't want to know the villain until the trailer to be honest. Guy is giving himself way too much credit, although some of us were a bit naive with the Holiday break thingy with SM4.

Everything is recycled... we even got a MJ/Gwen triangle in SM3, albeit nothing was fleshed out. Yeah we'll see a couple new villains, but we have basically gotten high school angst. Why they are going back to that this soon is beyond me. You can still reboot without going backwards. The problem with the franchise is that they are too worried about continuity. It's the reason why they rebooted instead of just recasting. You need to forget about that and just make three stand alone movies at different points in Peter's life. You can have reoccurring characters, but don't use the same supporting player in every movie. Do a Gwen movie. Do a MJ movie. Do a Harry movie. Do a Brock movie. Do a primarily Bugle movie. But don't make one of those characters the focal point again for the whole trilogy.

I am not so sure that we will get the green goblin tossing gwen stacy off the bridge scene because thats part of the classic storyline. This new film is on its own ( like spec spider-man and ultimate version ) and dont be suprised if you see normon osborn turn into a monster rather then a suit. This new film wont really be much about the bad guy, it will focus more on peter parkers struggling issues and the consequences of his own actions. Think of it as a smallville live action movie. They dont have enough in thier budget for a micheal bay spider-man action film. You know how you have more drama in smallville and maybe like 5 minutes of action. I mean things might change with script revisions but as far as I know dont expect an action packed movie, I dont know why they are even bothering to make the film in 3D.

The reason why Spidey is so popular is because it has catered to both young males and females. Drawing in more females with the hopes of having enough eye candy for the males to keep their business is a smart move. A franchise like Iron Man doesn't really cater to young females like a Potter or Twilight. As a result, they will probably alienate older viewers, but that is a worthy sacrifice when you are talking about a more lucrative demographic that can be more easily swayed.

When you keep the general moviegoing public in mind, the people aware or interested in Ultimate or Spec Spiderman is miniscule.

everything is gonna be somewhat recycled in a way...cause raimi used alot of stuff for his movies...he just didnt do it right.
maybe they can change that and actually give the story more substance.

I think it would be good Spidey drama if Connors acted like a father figure to Peter,since his Uncle Ben's death,and becomes The Lizard. Its a more realistic approach to why Spider-Man wants to save him.

And all this 'Lizard is a sympathetic villain' talk must end. He's sympathetic in the comics,and thats faithful,unlike Raimi's movies where he could even make the Devil look sympathetic,to everyone's annoyance.

sometimes in 3d movies they do those things that look cool on 3d like something coming at your face, but on 2d version they just look stupid and have absolutely no reason to be in there. Besides I think they should master the making of 3d movies before they start making every movie like that. The reboot of spiderman already has a very big chance to fail so why take the risk?
