Well thats not good news, I thought the reason production had taken so long was because they took time to get the money but they had it now? Wonder whats going on?

The casting rumors mentioned in that article...bah. This movie does not need Batista.

^It will just be a big guy with few lines who represents a physical challenge for Diesal, that is my guess anyway.

Yeah I like the names they have gotten. Very reminiscent of Pitch Black. Can't wait to hear who they are getting for Boss Johns. Stephen Lang would be awesome.

I wish they would do a nice standalone contained story like Pitch Black, IMO part 2 should have just been the crematoria setting.

I would have made the 2nd movie entirely on there, and then halfway through "necromongers" arrive to kill riddick because he is a furian, however I would have made the necormongers much more inhuman and evil. They wouldnt have gone too far in depth with explaining them and kept them very mysterious. I'd have designed them way different and alien, more like living shadow people.

Katee Sackhoff To Co-Star In ‘Riddick’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday January 9, 2012 @ 3:00pm PST

EXCLUSIVE: Katee Sackhoff is in final negotiations to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel in the untitled Chronicles Of Riddick sequel. In the movie, written and directed by David Twohy, the Battlestar Galactica alumna will play Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick (Diesel). Production on the sequel resumed recently in Montreal after a two-month break due to financing issues. Sackhoff, who had long been rumored for the choice for the role, will segue from Riddick to her new A&E series Longmire. The actress, who co-starred on the final season of 24 and did an arc on CSI, has movies Haunting In Georgia and Evil Sexy Genius coming out later this year. She is with Gersh and Bleu.

^Only ever seen her in The Big Bang Theory, but she seemed pretty good in that, cast seems decent at the very least.

I loved BSG and Katee was so great as Kara Thrace! Can't wait to see her in this film!

I didn't realize this had actually started filming.

Jordi Molla is now in talks to play the main villain as well, he was decent in Bad Boys II and Knight And Day.

I found this.

Nice find. Although it looks much more CoR than PB. Still awesome though. :woot:

Found something myself connected with the above

You keep what you kill. :word:

I still maintain that CoR is one of the finest scifi movies of the past decade and am frothing at the mouth to see more from movie 3.

I thought the TC was ok, but I thought the DC was a big improvement over it, hopefully this time Twohy gets to put out the movie he wants first time. And the movie going back to a R rating will help a lot.

Doesn't sound like it, given the plot of the new
movie.

I think it is alright, some very good parts here and there, but some right embarassing stuff too sometimes, this is the first time I have heard anyone gush with that much praise for it.

I'm not a fan of this series... I liked Pitch Black but I really didn't need to see Riddick's story continue and I thought Chronicles was pretty lame. Regardless of that though, I think the movie was one of several films that hurt Diesel's career... he was HUGE after F&F and xXx, and then he did a slew of projects that seemed to significantly reduced his star power, Chronicles being one of them. Now that he seems to be on an upward trajectory again, it baffles me that he wants to do another Riddick movie. It's like watching someone keep falling back into an abusive relationship. But then, Vin is fond of wifebeaters.

It's not like he is Ridley Scott, going back to long abandoned franchises from the beginning of his career he never thought he would tackle again...Vin always wanted to make a series of Riddick films, it's just taken this long to get the story and funding together, because CoR was a bit of a mis-fire.

Your analogy about going back to a 'wife-beater' is one of the most ridiculous, tasteless, and ott descriptions I have read on this site.

More so than most of your own analogies? F*** sake, lighten up.

Riddick was the character that made Vin Diesal, he wouldnt have got to do the likes of F&F and xXx, so why wouldnt he want to re-visit the character?

Its just like Arnold going back to The Terminator and Sly going back to Rambo and Rocky.

Hilarious post! Pitch Black is an honest to god good movie though and I think that you are underrating it.

I get what you are saying but the sequel really killed the excitement of the character for me. It wasn't awful but it's just so generic and pointless and I honestly don't see why he wants to make another one but kudos to him for getting funding after the well received smash that was Fast Five. I just hope like Fast Five, the new Riddick film brings it on and is successful.

Oh, I really like Pitch Black, don't get me wrong. Despite a limited budget and a fairly standard "we crashlanded on a nightmare planet" sci-fi plot, the film manages to take itself in interesting directions. But even so, it wasn't a movie that I needed a sequel to. Riddick was an interesting character in an ensemble piece, but I don't think there was enough to him to justify building an entire film around him.

I get what you are saying. We pretty much have the same opinion that it took a very cliched and silly horror primise and elevated it by adding unique things and interesting characters that are usually absent from the type of film it was. In hindsight I don't believe that a sequel was needed.

Have you seen the Directors Cut of COR? Its a much better movie than the theatrical cut and brings back some of the Riddick from PB, although he is still watered down from that movie. Give the DC a watch it might change your mind.

At least with this new film they are going back to the gritty style of the first movie.

I have watched the DC and I still think that the movie is only okay. It's not horrible or anything but it's just so shoulder shrugging.
