enough stills...trailer already:cmad: Is it still being distributed by Universal? Doubtful it'll be shown with Savages but I hope they'll have something ready by Bourne Legacy.

Definately watching this. I seem to be one of the few people who enjoyed the sequel to Pitch Black.

No you are not alone. I enjoyed it immensely. The necroarmy, futuristic city, universe design, art direction, crematoria, I liked it all. It completely opened up the Riddick universe and it is still one of my favorite scifi universes. Yeah, it was a completely different direction from pitch black but i dont think that's a bad thing. Its not perfect but I really enjoyed it.

I didn't like CoR, but I was hoping its sequel wouldn't go back to Pitch Black. I was actually hoping it would expand the CoR finale, which was very interesting.

CoR had great world building but Riddick as a character was so flat in it.

It wasn't even his story, if you think about it.

Well it wasn't but it was. I just think Riddick was poorly written in CoR. All of the dark and questionable qualities that made him such a great roguish character in the first film disappeared by CoR.

Think Back to the Future 3, where the protagonist was indeed McFly, but it was Doc's story essentially (and no1 was George McFly's story), that's what I mean about CoR. And you're right, he had no character, he was written to react against the other, more colourful characters in the movie.

Yeah, he was just a vessel for the audience, while he's caught in a much larger story. See, stuff like that can work (usually with a more everyman type) but it wasn't done well there.

Agreed, but the thing is with Pitch Black's Riddick in a story like this we could've gotten something very special and amazing. Oh, well. I'm not crazy about them getting scared and scaling it way down because of CoR reception. Imagine Riddick as king!

Yeah, it's a shame that CoR never reached it potential, and thus, expanding on that 'king' aspect.

But I'm grateful that a Riddick sequel is even coming out in the first place. We're lucky to have this film, and it sounds like it'll be a middle ground between Pitch Black and CoR.

My biggest fear is that they'll try too hard to recall back to Pitch Black without having its own identity. We've seen it before in other franchises when they try to recapture the essence of the original, but failed.

Fingers crossed. The visuals look amazing based on the pics and concept art, though.

If they ever make a new video game (which they should) i think that they should explore the time between CoR and this one, while he was king

Am I the only one who got a 'Conan' vibe when Riddick was crowned king?

No, I got it, too. It had something to with how he sat, imo.
